Thank You Gifts with Sentimental Swirls & Pretty Pillow Box Dies

I love to make little gifts for my customers. I’m finally catching up with thank you cards and gifts and mailed them out this week. I love how they turned out!
Stampin' Up! Sentimental Swirls and Pillow Box Dies customer gifts - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
You can create adorable gift and treat packaging with the Pretty Pillow Box Dies. I was thrilled this die set carried over from the Holiday Mini Catalog. You won’t find them in the current catalogs; however, they are available in my online store. The die set includes dies to cut a pillow box that you can assemble and fill with small treats or gifts. You can use the embellishment pieces to dress up your pillow box, create 3D flowers by layering and offsetting the petal images, and cut out tags and labels for your box.

I love the assortment of dies in this set and can’t wait to play with all of them! For today’s project I went “outside the box” and used the large pillow box die to create a pocket to hold a letter opener (from Amazon) that I thought my customers would use and appreciate.

Here’s the details:

  • Cut the pillow box die from 5 1/2 x 6 piece of cardstock.
  • Stamp swirly flourish image (from Sentimental Swirls Stamp Set )with Versamark ink (for a tone on tone look). See below.
  • Fold and burnish along the bottom only to create the pocket.
  • Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the sides. Fold to adhere and create the pocket.
  • Stamp flower image from Sentimental Swirls Stamp Set using Black Memento Ink on Basic White cardstock and color with Stampin’ Blends. Punch flowers using Flowers & Leaves Punch.
  • Adhere flower to pocket holder with Mini Glue Dots. Color Rhinetone Basic Jewels with Stampin’ Blends and adhere to center of flower.
  •  Place gift in pocket. *Could also hold a Ghirardelli chocolate.

I love to make my cards and gifts coordinate. Here’s a look at the coordinating cards.
Stampin' Up! Sentimental Swirls In Color all occasion card ideas - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
This card idea from Sam Donald (Pootles.co.uk) uses her million dollar sales achievement stamp set, Sentimental Swirls. I love a versatile stamp set and this one really hits the mark! The stamp set includes a variety of all-occasion greetings and a large swirly flourish that can be decorated with the included flowers, birds, butterflies, and leaves images. It coordinates with Flowers & Leaves Punch (that I used today) and the Strawberry Builder Punch (which can be used to punch the smaller flower).  Here’s a look at the stamp set.

I used Stampin’ Blends to color the flowers, punched them out using the Flowers & Leaves Punch and adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots. I colored the Rhinestone Basic Jewels with Stampin’ Blends to match.

  1. Love all your creations! So glad I found your blog and check to see what you have made regularly. Been stamping since 2000.

  2. I began stamping about 15 years ago because I was invited to a House Party at a friend’s house. A SU demonstrator came and 6 of us attended. We made 3 cards and a 3D candy holder. The next day I called the demonstrator and told her I decided to order a “few” items and she guided me as to what items would be perfect for me to get started making cards. The rest is history. I still enjoy the process.

  3. Oh Jeanie, this project is so delightful! This is so, a me project. But, I have resisted both the cute die set and that stamp set. Maybe a birthday splurge? Maybe 18 years ago for SU products. I went to a neighbor’s house for a demo. Man, there was a ton of food there and lots of couples. There were Mennonites. We had fun making some stuff. Then, a few months later a friend convinced me to go to a class with her and I was really hooked then! But, I used to make little note cards and tags for ages before that. I had a delightful Christmas pig stamp I bought when we lived in Houston and the rest is history. Everyone thought since I was from Iowa I liked pigs so the stamp was my signature with gifts. I cut up manilla folders for my tags. My SU anniversary as a demo is 5 years this month. Wow, we both have birthdays this month and SU anniversaries!

  4. Love your creations! Hard to pick a favorite as I love the spring colors. Such a cute project.
I just looked at the first stamp set I ever bought from Stampin’ Up and it has a copyright date of 1998. Of course, I could never part with my first stamp set, so that would be around 24 years ago! I had always loved paper crafting, so when I was invited to a home stamping party I was hooked.

  5. This is really a cute set used in the way you did.
I have been stamping for many years like 30+, started way back when we used an Iron to heat
for embossing, too cheap to buy the heating tool!! Have been enjoying it ever since. Was a demonstrator but stepping down now. Still do purchase things from others.

  6. Found your blog through Mary Fish’s Weekly Wow picks. What a clever use of the pillow box die. I have been stamping since 2004. I mainly make birthday and holiday cards for my seven grandchildren!

  7. I have been stamping for 37 years and have quite a collection of supplies! Every year I say I’m not going to buy as much…and then there are so many cute sets, die cuts, designer series paper. I never felt creative enough to be a demonstrator so I enjoy the blogs to get ideas from.

  8. Jeanie, I have been stamping for approximately 6 years and just recently stepped down from being an demonstrator. I love SU and I love following your blog, so I decided to order the cute pillow box die from you. Thanks for being such a terrific demonstrator for Stampin Up!

  9. I’ve been stamping for 12 years and am a hobby demonstrator with SU. I found you through Mary Fish’s Weekly WOW Picks. This is a cute idea using the pillowbox die. Would you share where you found the mini cutters?

  10. Your project is adorable! I attended a stampin up party in 2006 and was hooked. I became a hobby demonstrator 5 years ago.

  11. It has been nine years for me as well. I still love it and continue to be inspired by your creations!
