Alternative Halloween Treat

Happy Hallows Eve! I have always loved Halloween! I enjoyed the whole process, from deciding what to wear, to getting together with friends to go out on a school night (which was something we were not usually allowed to do), to exchanging our treats when we got back home. When my kids were little I loved making their costumes each year, having Halloween parties, and creating special treats for the neighborhood kids. I still enjoy seeing the costumes each year though it doesn’t seem like it’s as big a deal as it was in the past. This year I made some treats for our local Hospice House to put on the lunch trays. These fruit cups were quick & easy to create!

I used a black Sharpie marker to draw/color a pumpkin face on peach fruit cups. Then I stamped Happy Halloween in black ink, punched it out with the 1 3/4 circle punch and adhered to the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some garden green leaves cut from the Painted Pumpkin Dies.

This is a great candy alternative and something you can make and pack in your kids/grandkids lunches. (You could do this with jello cups as well!) I loved doing these for my own kids as well as my preschool students.

I hope this Rewind & Redo series has reminded you that every card does not have to be a new idea! If I make a card that I really love, I’ll often use the same layout again. I’ll change the stamp set, swap out the colors, and/or use different patterned paper, but the basic design stays the same.
