A Sweet Chocolate Treat

Stampin Up Year of Cheer Lindt chocolate treat holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

During our weekend away my friends and I visited the Lindt Chocolate Outlet in Pennsylvania.  I thought I had died and gone to heaven! They had bins and bins with every flavor filling you could imagine.  You could pick and choose to fill a bag with different flavors. My mind was racing …I saw Stampin’ Up! colors everywhere and couldn’t wait to make these adorable mini cracker boxes to color coordinate.

The Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper was the perfect choice for these gold and copper foiled truffles. These are really quick & easy to make with one of my favorite “must have” tools, the Envelope Punch Board.  Susan has been waiting patiently for me to post the measurements for these so Susan, this is for you!!!!

Start with a piece of 4 1/4 x 6 piece of DSP.  Use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool (another favorite well loved tool!!!!) to score along the 6″ side at 1 3/8, 2 3/4, 4 1/8, 5 1/2.  Turn and score (with the 4 1/4″ side across the top) at 1 3/8.  Fold along the score lines.

Next use the Envelope Punch Board and with the short side across the top, line up the DSP at the 1″ mark and punch. *The 1 3/8 score line should be off to the right. You will fold and punch along each score line at the 1″ mark. *You will be punching through two layers each time except the one on the end which will just be one layer.

Next, cut up on the score lines at the bottom to the 1 3/8 score line.  Cut off the small rectangle along the bottom and apply Tear & tape on the end as shown below. Fold and adhere the sides of the box then fold the bottom flaps and adhere with Multipurpose Liquid.

Fill with a chocolate ball, pinch the top to close, then tie with ribbon. This is a quick & easy treat for table favors, coworkers, or to give out as you go through the drive thru to get your cup of coffee, etc. I had so much fun making these to go with all the different chocolate flavors.

  1. YIPPEE…YIPPEE….I have not even read this post but I know that I am going to go right now and MAKE SOME….

THANK YOO…THANK YOU my friend….you ARE the best and I just love when you enable me to make something……I have been on the edge of my seat for this one!!!

    1. We need to package up that chocolate before we eat it all! I see another road trip in the near future! Think how pretty they will look for Valentine’s Day with new Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper! Ooh…..I may have to go make one now just to see!!!!! Especially with the adorable little heart sentiments and dies!!! WOW!!!!

  2. Wow these look great and so do the candies. I love Lindt candiies… I didn’t realize there was an outlet in PA.. my kind of place..

Thanks for sharing these adorable packages..

  3. Another Pennsylvanian looking for that outlet. I am near Russell Stover at Cabella’s. Lovely little treat bag. Thanks.

  4. Obviously I need to plan a trip to Pennsylvania. I mean I can visit two places that would qualify as my own personal Nirvanas, the Hershey’s plant and the Lindt’s Outlet. I get giddy just thinking about it. Your mini-crackers are simply adorable.

    1. Thank you! We think alike! Both places have samples! The Hershey factory takes you on a (free) little ride to see how chocolate is made. Many, many years ago (when I was a kid) you actually saw the chocolate being made but now it is just a simulation. I remember being in awe of all that chocolate! And of course the ride ends inside the candy store (which is still a WOW!).

  5. Oh My Goodies!! just the tutorial I need for small treats for a church function coming up. tsmfs

  6. I am drooling just thinking about the outlet place – I definitely would think I had died and gone to heaven! Samples? You know I will be making these treat holders for sure-they are gorgeous and look like so much fun to make and to receive (hint)! Luckily when in San Francisco we went to the Ghiradeli factory and they the shop part was closing for the day in about 15 minutes so I didn’t have much time to sample much and to buy much. That is my story and I am sticking to it!

    1. They were very generous with their samples! I loved that you could buy as many of each as you wanted and fill your own bag instead of how they sell it in the store. Plus it was MUCH cheaper to buy in quantity. We went in together to get 5 bags…it was buy 3, get 2 FREE. We saved $10 a bag! I may have to stop again on our way out of town as we will go right by the exit…hopefully during hours of operation! I need 50 for my table favors for CHristmas Eve so I sealed the bag until I finish my favors (otherwise there would be none left to fill the favors)! LOL

  7. Jeanie these are adorable! I’m definitely going to make some. I love the idea of giving them out as a RAK!
