A Sweet Chocolate Treat

Stampin Up Year of Cheer Lindt chocolate treat holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

During our weekend away my friends and I visited the Lindt Chocolate Outlet in Pennsylvania.  I thought I had died and gone to heaven! They had bins and bins with every flavor filling you could imagine.  You could pick and choose to fill a bag with different flavors. My mind was racing …I saw Stampin’ Up! colors everywhere and couldn’t wait to make these adorable mini cracker boxes to color coordinate.

The Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper was the perfect choice for these gold and copper foiled truffles. These are really quick & easy to make with one of my favorite “must have” tools, the Envelope Punch Board.  Susan has been waiting patiently for me to post the measurements for these so Susan, this is for you!!!!

Start with a piece of 4 1/4 x 6 piece of DSP.  Use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool (another favorite well loved tool!!!!) to score along the 6″ side at 1 3/8, 2 3/4, 4 1/8, 5 1/2.  Turn and score (with the 4 1/4″ side across the top) at 1 3/8.  Fold along the score lines.

Next use the Envelope Punch Board and with the short side across the top, line up the DSP at the 1″ mark and punch. *The 1 3/8 score line should be off to the right. You will fold and punch along each score line at the 1″ mark. *You will be punching through two layers each time except the one on the end which will just be one layer.

Next, cut up on the score lines at the bottom to the 1 3/8 score line.  Cut off the small rectangle along the bottom and apply Tear & tape on the end as shown below. Fold and adhere the sides of the box then fold the bottom flaps and adhere with Multipurpose Liquid.

Fill with a chocolate ball, pinch the top to close, then tie with ribbon. This is a quick & easy treat for table favors, coworkers, or to give out as you go through the drive thru to get your cup of coffee, etc. I had so much fun making these to go with all the different chocolate flavors.

Happy Birthday Carl!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  He spoils me 364 days of the year so I am excited to surprise him today! We recently attended a Casino Night fundraiser for my school and had such a great time. Here’s a photo of us from the event.

I thought I would continue the theme for his birthday.  Here’s the card I made for him.

I used several retired stamp sets, dies, and DSP to create this card. I know my husband is going to love it! The red glimmer paper and silver foil really make this card sparkle! Here’s a close up of the “slot machine”. The lever actually pulls down! I fussy cut the cherries from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired).

Some chocolate covered “casino chips” add a sweet treat.

Can you guess his birthday gift? I made these “dice” to go with the card to hold his “chips” and added surprise.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Cube Box idea - Jeanie Stark Stampin Up

The cube box is quick & easy to make with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I started with a piece of 8 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock.  With the long side across the top I scored it at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10.  I scored the short side at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2.

Look at the photo below to see where to cut to make the box. Remove the little rectangle from the bottom of the box and cut up each of the score lines along the bottom. You remove quite a bit from the top of the box just saving one section for the top/lid. Notch the ends to make it easy to close the box.

Apply Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the box. Fold the bottom flaps in and adhere with Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive.  I punched 3/4″ circles and adhered with Multipurpose Glue to the sides of the boxes to look like dice.

For his birthday gift, I booked a weekend getaway at the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino.  I wanted to include a little extra surprise with some “gambling” money. The cube box is a great way to give cash. I folded $ in thirds accordion style and attached with washi tape. The washi tape can be removed without tearing the bills. It is so much fun to pull the top bill and see what looks like a never ending money box!

I hope he’s feeling lucky! I love the way this makes such a fun gift presentation.
