M is for Merry Music and more!

Welcome to my Holiday ABC series. I love Christmas music!  I could listen to Christmas carols year round! Unfortunately I can’t sing. (Many a friend will agree!  LOL)  At least my Pre K students don’t seem to mind.  I may not be able to sing the right notes; however, I create some “notes”. Today’s cards feature the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper. I made a set of note cards for my daughter’s former violin teacher. My daughter visits her when she is home from college and brings her our homemade fudge for Christmas every year. I know she will appreciate these cards (maybe not as much as her favorite fudge but at least these are calorie free).

This is a clean & simple layout and a great way to showcase your favorite DSP. (Don’t forget select DSP is on sale through the end of October…Buy 3, Get 1 FREE! Only a few days left to stock up & save!)

The DSP measures 3×3 and I layered each with a 3 1/4 square of Basic Black cardstock. I used the Pretty Pines Thinlits to cut my boughs from Garden Green, Old Olive, and Real Red cardstock. I adhered these and the Red Ribbon bow with Glue Dots. I stamped the sentiment from Flourishing Phrases in Basic Black and cut it (and the Real Red scallop piece) with the Layering Ovals Framelits. I adhered the sentiment layer to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Quick & easy! What a great gift idea for teachers, hostesses, musicians, etc. You get 4 each of 6 double-sided designs in the pack so there’s plenty of paper to make matching envelopes too!

  1. Love these beautiful card, Jeanie! Now I know how I am going to use this Merry Music paper. This design would be great with a variety of DSPs. As Cynthia said, it is simple and beautiful! Love that combination. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thanks HJ! I actually used this same layout for some “peachy” thank you notes I created a while back for my daughter. It looks different when you change out the DSP. You can use any shaped sentiment layer as I have used circles and even just stamped on the card base. So many possibilities! Have fun!

  2. M is for marvelous melody makers making a statement! Whatever….my friend Pam will love a set of these. She has one of her degrees in music and plays all kinds of instruments. She also loves black and white cards. Somehow I don’t think she would actually send them to people but keep them for herself to display on her mantel or some place. So, I could actually use the thicker greenery stuff to decorate them since I don’t have those thinlets. I gotta ask – did you think the “Just a note” would compete with the DSP if you would have covered the whole card instead of using a 3×3 piece? I am thinking maybe of doing the whole card and then tucking the “just a note” up with the greenery. Maybe I could put them in the 1/2 of the acetate box like you have done previously since I will not include envelopes. But, I will ask her if she would like envelopes later….but like I said I can see her keeping these for herself or maybe sharing one – but I bet she couldn’t choose a favorite either! I am not sure the fudge will win out this time for your daughter’s former teacher! Well done my friend!

    1. Oh Chris, you know me too well! I did play around with a larger sheet of DSP and I liked the look with the snowflakes and notes patterns but, as you suspected, I did feel the sentiment was competing with the music and I didn’t want that. Originally I used a black layer for the sentiment but felt it needed the red to pop. We think alike as I did play around with the greenery coming out from under the sentiment and I actually did that on another card design. So many ideas…never enough time!!! I think anyone would appreciate a set of note cards…not just the musically inclined. I love them and there isn’t a musical bone in my body! LOL

  3. I think this dsp is so special and your cards are also ! What a nice gift for a music teacher .
I think the black and white is so striking . This dsp is timeless ….might be fun to stick back a pack for next year !
