L is for Star of Light

Welcome to my Holiday ABC series. I was asked to design a card using the Star of Light Stamp Set. The request was for a simple card that would be easy to make in bulk.  I love a challenge and this was so much fun! I created two cards so she could have a choice. I like how this request fit right in with my alphabet series…L is for Light. Here’s my first card:

The card base is 4 1/4 x 11 Whisper White scored at 5 1/2. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest by Brandy Cox. I stamped the swirl around the outside of the card in Night of Navy ink.

The image and sentiment are stamped on a piece of 3 x 4 whisper white and layered on a piece of 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 Soft Sky and 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 Night of Navy.  There are so many great sentiments and images in this set! The photopolymer stamps make it is easy to do two-step stamping. I used Soft Sky ink to fill the image and then added a rhinestone and Wink of Stella for a little sparkle. The layered piece is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I love how this stamp set has several sentiments that go together for the front and inside of cards! It was fun to stamp the images on the inside to coordinate.

A simple, clean card that is easy to duplicate! Here’s the matching envelope.

I thought I would add a little sparkle to my next card with some Silver Glimmer Paper. I love Glimmer Paper and every time I use it on a card I wonder why I don’t use it more!

I love Navy and White…so classic! I did the same two step stamping on the layered piece but this time I added the swirl in Soft Sky. The Whisper White piece measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 and the Silver Glimmer Paper is 1/8″ larger. The inside has the same swirl in Soft Sky with the sentiment stamped in Night of Navy.

  1. Both are great but something about the lighter swirls of light and the silver glimmer paper really said, “Pick me!” I am not big into glittery stuff and still do not have the Wink of Stella even. But, in looking at them side by side again it seems the soft sky shows off the star thingy more but then who am I to decide. Love the envelope as well. I am glad I don’t have to chose! “L” was for I like both!

  2. Hi Jeanie,
Both these cards are beautiful. Just the touch of “Religion” for some people. I adore the colors you chose and the amount of white is great. I love them both, but especially the first one, I like the swirls.
    Happy Weekend!
    🙂
