E is for Early Espresso

Stampin' Up! ABC Color Series - visit juststampin.com for color inspiration and color combinations from A to Z - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Welcome to my ABC Color Series! Stampin’ Up! offers so many great color choices!  I love to combine different colors and patterns and hope to inspire you with some fun color combinations throughout this series. Today’s project features a color I don’t use very often, Early Espresso. Early Espresso is part of Stampin’ Up!’s Neutrals Collection. Today’s card combines Early Espresso with Real Red and Granny Apple Green…colors we find in nature.

Stampin' Up! Apple Harvest Get well card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I used my Stampin’ Blends to color the apples from the Apple Harvest Stamp Set. I cut the image out with the Scalloped Contours Die then decided to trim off the scallop edges. (If you own the Stitched Rectangle Dies you could use those to achieve the same effect.) I love the texture you get with embossing folders. The Basics 3D Embossing Folders are not found in the catalog.  They are an online exclusive and I love all 3 of them! I used the dots for this card. This card has several layers.

Supplies/ Measurements:

Card Base (Real Red): 5 ½ x 8 ½ score @ 4 ¼
Layer 1 (Basic White cardstock): 4 x 5 ¼
Layer 2 (Real Red Cardstock): 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 embossed with Basic Dots Embossing Folder
Layer 3 (Early Espresso cardstock): 3 x 4 1/4
Layer 4 (Basic White): 3 1/2 x 5 cut with Scalloped Contours Die
Layer 5 (Basic White): scrap to stamp sentiment and cut with Stylish Shapes Die
Inside Layer (Basic White): 4 x 5 1/4

Directions:

  1. Fold and burnish card base along score line.
  2. Adhere red embossed layer to Basic White then to card base.
  3. Stamp sentiment on Basic white with Memento Black Ink and color with Stampin’ Blends. Cut with Scalloped Contours Die. Cut off scallops with Paper Trimmer.
  4. Adhere to Early Espresso as shown. Adhere Early Espresso to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp sentiment in Early Espresso and cut with Stylish Shapes Die. Trim ends as shown. Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Make a double bow with twine and adhere with Mini Glue Dot.
  7. Adhere white layer inside card. Stamp sentiment or add handwritten note.
  8. Adhere 1/4 x 6 Early Espresso strip and 2 x 6 DSP strip to envelope flap and trim to fit.

  1. Eagerly awaiting the alphabet series and you did not disappoint with early expression. The apples are so lifelike. Just a great card. I remember your post a few years ago with your Apple picking. I love honeycrisp ones with opal, gala, and fuiji right behind. Great job as always.

  2. Great card. The red makes the other colors pop. Embossing a great add. Thanks for sharing
