Stampin' Up! ABC Color Series - visit juststampin.com for color inspiration and color combinations from A to Z - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Welcome to my ABC Color Series! Stampin’ Up! offers so many great color choices!  I love to combine different colors and patterns and hope to inspire you with some fun color combinations throughout this series. Today’s projects feature my favorite shade of green, Granny Apple Green. Take a look at how it compares with some other greens.

While I do like and use all of these shades of greens, one of my favorite color combinations is Granny Apple Green with Blueberry Bushel. I created two cards showcasing this color combination.

I rarely make just one card at a time as I like to try different products and techniques. The measurements are the same for both cards; however, I used different color card bases as well as different embossing folders. I also tried different techniques to color the leaves and flowers on these cards. Here are the details:

Measurements:

  • Card Base: 7 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • Designer Series Paper: 2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Cardstock layer: 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed
  • Basic White: ~3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ cut with Scalloped Contour Die
  • Basic White: scrap to stamp and punch flowers with Petal Park Builder Punch
  • Inside Cardstock layer: 3″ x 4″
  • Basic White inside: 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • DSP envelope: 2 x 6
  • Cardstock strip for envelope: 1/4 x 6

My first card starts with a Granny Apple Green card base. I used the Flowers 3D embossing folder from the Basic Pack (online exclusive) for the background. I stamped the outline of the leaves in Granny Apple Green then stamped off before stamping the inside. (*I tried stamping without stamping off it was just too dark for the look I wanted.) I stamped the flowers with Blueberry Bushel ink and rather than stamp the inside stamp I chose to color in with the Blender Pen to create the lighter color. It picks up the ink from the outline.

I use my Bone Folder to curl the flowers under then curl the ends up before adhering the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s my second card:

This card starts with a Blueberry Bushel card base. The Granny Apple Green layer is embossed with the Elegant Eucalyptus 3D Embossing Folder. The leaves are stamped in Granny Apple Green then colored in with the Granny Apple Green Blends. The flowers are stamped in Blueberry Bushel like the first card only this time I used Wink of Stella to color in. It picks up the ink color and adds. little shimmer which I like. (It’s hard to see in the photos.) I also added sone White Classic Matte Dots in the center of the flowers.

Both of these cards feature the Petal Park Stamp Set, Petal Builder Punch, and Scalloped Contours Dies. The designer Series paper is a sneak peek at one of the new holiday paper packs that will be available starting tomorrow (Sept. 6th), Merry Bold & Bright 12×12 Designer Series Paper. I absolutely love the bright and bold patterns!

There are so many fun color combinations you can choose with this paper pack.  I love the stripe pattern I used on today’s cards. I chose to highlight Granny Apple Green with Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lime Twist.

I love how the DSP you see on the front of the card is actually adhered on the inside. *The inside sentiment is from Good Feelings.

E is for Early Espresso

Stampin' Up! ABC Color Series - visit juststampin.com for color inspiration and color combinations from A to Z - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Welcome to my ABC Color Series! Stampin’ Up! offers so many great color choices!  I love to combine different colors and patterns and hope to inspire you with some fun color combinations throughout this series. Today’s project features a color I don’t use very often, Early Espresso. Early Espresso is part of Stampin’ Up!’s Neutrals Collection. Today’s card combines Early Espresso with Real Red and Granny Apple Green…colors we find in nature.

Stampin' Up! Apple Harvest Get well card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I used my Stampin’ Blends to color the apples from the Apple Harvest Stamp Set. I cut the image out with the Scalloped Contours Die then decided to trim off the scallop edges. (If you own the Stitched Rectangle Dies you could use those to achieve the same effect.) I love the texture you get with embossing folders. The Basics 3D Embossing Folders are not found in the catalog.  They are an online exclusive and I love all 3 of them! I used the dots for this card. This card has several layers.

Supplies/ Measurements:

Card Base (Real Red): 5 ½ x 8 ½ score @ 4 ¼
Layer 1 (Basic White cardstock): 4 x 5 ¼
Layer 2 (Real Red Cardstock): 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 embossed with Basic Dots Embossing Folder
Layer 3 (Early Espresso cardstock): 3 x 4 1/4
Layer 4 (Basic White): 3 1/2 x 5 cut with Scalloped Contours Die
Layer 5 (Basic White): scrap to stamp sentiment and cut with Stylish Shapes Die
Inside Layer (Basic White): 4 x 5 1/4

Directions:

  1. Fold and burnish card base along score line.
  2. Adhere red embossed layer to Basic White then to card base.
  3. Stamp sentiment on Basic white with Memento Black Ink and color with Stampin’ Blends. Cut with Scalloped Contours Die. Cut off scallops with Paper Trimmer.
  4. Adhere to Early Espresso as shown. Adhere Early Espresso to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp sentiment in Early Espresso and cut with Stylish Shapes Die. Trim ends as shown. Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  6. Make a double bow with twine and adhere with Mini Glue Dot.
  7. Adhere white layer inside card. Stamp sentiment or add handwritten note.
  8. Adhere 1/4 x 6 Early Espresso strip and 2 x 6 DSP strip to envelope flap and trim to fit.

Ombre Gift Bags for the Pals Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “2021-2023 New In-Colors.” We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. Then, at the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.Stampin' Up! Flowers of Friendship Ombre Gift Bag ideas using the 2021-2023 In Colors and Scalloped Contour Dies - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I love the gorgeous new Ombre Gift Bags which come in each of the new 2021-2023 In Colors! You can use these for treat or gift bags. I decorated my bags using the Scalloped Contour Dies and Flowers of Friendship Bundle.Stampin' Up! Flowers of Friendship Bundle -visit juststampin.com for inspiration and ordering information - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The Flowers of Friendship Bundle includes the Flowers of Friendship Stamp Set and the Flowers & Leaves Punch. The flower imagery of the set mixes simplicity and elegance. It’s perfect for different coloring and stamping techniques. The punch includes flowers and leaf shapes that you can use as you please. Mix them together or layer them up to create a variety of flowers that will embellish any of your projects. You save 10% when your purchase the bundle. The Scalloped Contour Dies are my favorite new dies! (They are part of the Color & Contour Bundle or can be purchase separately.)

The scalloped edge borders in this set range in size, allowing you to decorate a card front or create scalloped labels for your sentiments. They’re fun to layer too! I will be sharing more projects with these dies!

I’m sure you can figure out how I decorated these bags but here’s a few tips. I inked the flower image in Evening Evergreen then masked the flowers (you can use tape, or post it notes to cover the flowers) before stamping on Basic White.
Stampin' Up! Flowers of Friendship stamp set using the masking technique - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Next I cut it out using the Scalloped Contour Die. I used the Soft Succulent Blends to color in the leaves. Each of the flowers were stamped then punched with the Flowers & Leaves Punch. (*I cut my cardstock to 1 3/4″ strips to make it easier to slide in and punch without a lot of wasted cardstock.)

To add a little depth to the flowers I used my stylus to roll the center of the flower to curl the petals. You could also use a bone folder to curl the ends but for smaller flowers I find this technique easier without creasing the cardstock.

The flowers were adhered with a Mini Glue Dot and I added In Color Jewels to the center of each for a little bling. The In Color Ribbon adds the finishing touch! (This ribbon is gorgeous and so easy to work with to tie a bow without adding bulk!) I popped up the scalloped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Here’s a look at each one.

Previously I shared a “sweet” In Color card introducing the new colors as well as the 2021-2023 In Color comparisons and more. You can get all the inside “scoop” HERE.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on June 9th with “Fun Ways to Use Your Stampin’ Up! Products.” Participants showcase at least one of their favorite product tips. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.
