Q is for Quick

Welcome to my ABC Card Series! Throughout this series I’ll be sharing a variety of cards for every occasion from A to Z! Often I need a Quick card last minute before I head out the door! I have several card designs I use when I’m in this situation.  Here’s a quick & easy one to make for any occasion.

Stampin' Up! Quick & Easy corner fold card idea for any occasion - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Choose a piece of DSP and coordinating cardstock. Grab a sentiment stamp for the occasion and cut your paper to these measurements:

  • Card Base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Whisper White Layer to stamp sentiment: 5 1/4 x 4
  • DSP Layer: 5 1/4 x 4  *Fold corner so it is below the sentiment and burnish with bone folder.

Now how easy is that?! Just adhere the layers and let the DSP shine. It showcases both sides of the DSP !  You can quickly add a punched flower or use the Circle Punches (or Layering Framelits) to cut an image from Designer Series Paper. Pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and you’re done! I hope you will go through your stash and grab a piece of DSP to give this design a try!

Stampin Up Beautiful Bouquet and Garden Lane Corner Fold Birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Here’s what often happens at my house.  My husband, son, or daughter ask for a card they need at the last minute. Sound familiar?? Just last week (late in the evening) the night before my daughter flew to Las Vegas (with her Georgia Tech Bridge Club to compete in a tournament), she asked if I could make her some cards for 3 of her teammates who would be celebrating their birthday while in Vegas.  Of course I said yes! (I always say yes even if it means I won’t sleep that night! LOL) I am always thrilled that they want my handmade cards. (I just wish they gave me a little more notice.) For this occasion it was actually an easy project as I was thinking Las Vegas, Bridge Club, cards, 21…Oh yes! I had a quick & easy idea for that! I put her to work.  While she die cut, I stamped and assembled. Here’s the cards we made.

Stampin' Up! Perennial Birthday card idea for masculine 21st birthday - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Great way to use an old deck of cards and she loved them! We actually made 5 cards in 20 minutes.  That has to be a new record for me! How long does it usually take you to make a card? Leave a comment below.  I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Oh Yes these are super!! It is great you and your daughter worked together. The idea is fabulous most often the hardest part. I got sucked into card videos a while back and thought I should complete a card in 20 minutes . . . until I realized the planning that went on behind the video and it is only the assembly being recorded. I was distraught that it would take me two to three hours sometimes. I don’t usually have a finished plan and I keep thinking of new things to do to the card . . . an EF here a heat emboss here, a layer her etc. When I have left-over cards kits from a class, I can complete that is 20 minutes too. Ha. Ha. Ha.
    Have a blessed day.

    1. Oh Nancy, I can guarantee you it is unusual for me to complete a card in 20 minutes! You are so right the decision making is what is the hardest! I hardly ever make just 1 card at a time. I like to play around with different colors, etc. so I usually end up with one I like better. Often I start out with an idea or a card sketch and end up with something totally different when I’m done! I do find the more I create the faster I get. I also have a book where I jot down ideas when I don’t have time to create. Some days ideas are flowing and I can’t create fast enough and then other days I am hard pressed to come up with anything creative! (That’s when I CASE Pinterest! LOL)

  2. Jeanie, I love your birthday cards. What a cute and clever idea!! I’ll bet they were thrilled with cards made especially for them!

  3. I always enjoy your Alphabet Series ! Your “Q” cards are really G for great ! So clever and yet so quick ! I am going to be using your lay out to use up some HOARDED paper !!
Your Vegas cards are just perfect !! So cute !!

    1. Thanks Sonny! I am right there with you paper hoarding! I am getting better about using it up but I still have a lot of retired paper!

  4. Your birthday cards are so super clever and cute!! I am definitely casing them. I have done the same layout with my DSP for quick cards too….love your choices of DSP. Enjoy the day.

  5. Great cards Jeanie!! I especially love the cards you made with your daughter!! So clever! And so personal! I hope she had a great time and she had good cards (for bridge!).

    1. Thanks Mary Anne! I do enjoy when my daughter spends time with me in my craft room! She had a great time in Vegas and came home exhausted!!! She won first place in the partners tournament!

  6. I love all these cute, quick cards. It takes me forever to decide what paper and design to use. I’m happy your giving us some quick ideas. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks Hilda! Stampin’ Up! does most of the decision making for me…..I just look on the back of the DSP pack to see the coordinating colors and pull those to see which color I like best. I’m usually pretty monochromatic in my choices.

  7. Jeanie, Your quick and easy cards are fabulous. Such an easy step to fold over the corner and yield a striking result. Wish I had thought of that, LOL. The cards for the bridge girls are also adorable.

I hate to see you are already on the letter Q as I love your ABC series. You are one uber talented lady.

  8. Well crap, my comment isn’t here. I remember something that I wrote as one of your quirky friends I thought you were the queen of quick cards. Love the corner turned down ones. I always love when both sides are great. I gotta get that medium daisy punch, it looks great on your cards. Plus, the ones you made for your daughter’s friends are great. Who knew you could make cards out of a deck of cards and I bet they loved them the most. She came in first, how cool is that?
