Today is Sister Corda’s birthday. It breaks my heart that she passed away 3 days ago. I had planned to share her birthday card today; however, I am going to share some blog candy in her honor instead. 
If you know me or follow my blog, you have heard about Sister Corda. She was an amazing woman in so many ways! At 90 years old she was my oldest “Paper Pumpkin Player”, still made her delicious homemade candy to give to others, volunteered each week at the homeless shelter, helped out in my Pre K classroom, walked daily, and was completely devoted to her faith. She taught for many years and made a difference in so many lives! If you couldn’t remember something, you’d ask Sister Corda…she had a mind like a steel trap!
I had the pleasure of introducing Sister Corda to card making. I still remember the excitement and joy on her face when she made her first card. She continued to have just as much joy with each and every card she made. She followed my blog daily (and would have something to say if I missed a day or two). Often she would be waiting in my classroom in the morning with a list of items she needed or to show me something she created. Just recently she was so excited to start stamping her handmade Christmas cards and wanted a Wink of Stella brush. I made this little bag (adapted from Pootles) to put it in to gift to her but never had the chance to give it to her before she went to the hospital.

Sister Corda was truly an inspirational woman. She had such an impact on me and my family. My friend Paula said it best, “How lucky are we to have been blessed with the opportunity to witness complete devotion and love by a person who touched each of our hearts in a very personal way.” Sister Corda would have been 91 years old today. Hi Jeanie, so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. I have many people that are blessing in my life. My parents are huge blessings to me. They have always been there for me. As they age it is now my turn to take care of them. As Thanksgiving approaches I always think about all my Blessings and people that are important in my life. So sorry ! But ….it was her time to go to heaven I guess ….we never know ,but she was here for a very long time and brought blessings to so many . What wonderful memories you have of that sweet angel !

Sr. Corda was indeed a special blessing in your life and you were a blessing in her life. Her spirit still lives on in you and the people whose lives she touched. Two friends from childhood have been blessings in my life and I am so grateful for having them.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Bev came into my life when I was a teacher. When I became a principal she was my special needs teacher and then my counsellor in the school. We rn half marathons together ,each morning before school we would run 5 km and on the weekends we would do our long runs , saying a rosary aloud along the way, past all sorts of people praying aloud. She is now an angel therapist and a pastoral counsellor. We meet up tho or threee times a year now that I am retired while she works from home a sa greif counsellor. She lives the motto of mother teresa, do great things with love, from transporting cancer patients to their appointments to helping the needy. While at school she always knew of the children who needed clothes etc and would drop off a bag of clothes , food ,whatever is needed. She walks the talk of loving your neighbour. You were blessed to have Suster Corda in your life just as I am to have Bev in mine
Jeanne, I am so sorry for the loss if your dear friend but so glad for Sister Corda who has passed to Eternal Life in Heaven!! (Do you think there is stamping in heaven? There’s gotta be since it gives us such joy here on earth).
I lost my dear MIL Ellen last March. She did not stamp herself but was my biggest fan. Now as I make my Christmas cards I keep thinking, Ellen would love this one. I sure miss her but know she is still with me.

One of the most amazing woman in my life was my mother-in-law, Mamie. I never had a relationship with my own mother. Mom, as I called her, welcomed me into her family.
She treated me just
Like one of her daughters. She taught me how to me how to crochet, to make cinnamon rolls (which my husband loves), and how to garden. But most of all she taught me how to love.
I used to call her everyday and we would just chat. I miss her and think of her everyday.
My sentiments exactly. My mil also treated me as a daughter and because of her example, that’s how I treat my dil. Now I have a wonderful relationship with her too. When your child gets married, their spouse becomes your child too. (Jeanne, sorry to go off topic here, but I really related to what Kathy said)
Jeanie, You are the blessing in my life. I will never forget how we met; then again, I may never recover from that incident. You have brought me a lifetime of joy, laughter, caring, and understanding. You have the rare gift of turning dark days into days filled with light.

Reading this made me cry! I’m so sorry for your loss of this beautiful person. Reading your post- the thought of so many came into my mind as I’ve been blessed. One blessing in particular- my best friend Dawn. She is a beacon of light and is there for so many in their time of need- fixing & serving food for 400+ people, gifting craft supplies to those who can’t afford it, helping others create, etc. I could go on & on. Truly a remarkable person. I’m sorry for your loss friend.
Jeanie, this post really touched my heart. So very sorry for the loss of a very special lady who was such a great friend. My grandparents on my mom’s side are in their early 90s. I always loved coloring with grandma when I was a kid. I always loved coloring and crafts. I have many special blessings in my life and I am very thankful for my stamping friends, as they are some of the most special blessings.
I remember you writing about Sister Corda on your blog often and am so sorry to hear of her passing. She’ll have a big celebration today, even as we shed tears for your loss. I have a group of girl friends–my GNO group–who are special to me and one of those in particular is special as I know she’s always there for me no matter what. Sending hugs to you.

I, too, am sorry for not only your loss as well as the world’s loss of your dear sweet Sister Corda. You are a true testament of her blessings. You were blessed to have her in your life and I am sure she felt the same about you and your family. Oh the memories you will have for many years to come and to look back on.
I was blessed after my parents died to have a couple and their daughter relocate to my home town. They basically came with just what would fit in their car. He had been in prison for “cooking his books” of his little glass company is what Fred told me. They migrated to our church somehow. Our minister called me one day and asked if there was anything they could use at the house still as they needed basically everything. They were in a temporary shelter at first until they were able to rent a house with no furniture. Boy, did I! They picked a table and chairs, beds, dressers, a couch etc. Plus, what food was still good with a shelf life or frozen. Pots, pans, etc as well as the toaster, can opener, and dishes. She spent a dollar at the Salvation Army when they moved to town for a cup so she could drink tea out of. She about collapsed when in the kitchen Naomi found a whole set of dishes that matched that little cup she bought! Talk about overjoyed. In the next year they spent a lot of time with me as Mike was working out of town during the week days. Naomi was going through the bathroom and found 1/2 full containers of deodorant and knew people in the shelters who could use it as well as 1/2 bars of soap etc. She put another family in touch with me who needed a really firm couch for the mother with back problems to sleep on. I gave her a 6 foot wall hanging that matched it and talk about overjoyed! They hugged Mike and Fred when they took it to their little apartment. They were eating off of some Styrofoam plates that you could tell had been washed numerous times as well as plastic forks etc. We had received a really expensive 2 place setting of dishes for our wedding that we could not afford to buy more. So, I gave them those. Anyway, Fred and Naomi and their daughter shared a lot with me and were always there to help out with any little thing I needed. They landed jobs and saved their money. Then, one day they announced they needed to go back to the Seattle area as her mom was not well. They took all the furniture I had given them and other stuff and had a huge garage sale and gave some stuff to more people who just didn’t have stuff. Then, after a tearful goodbye they left. They said they would never contact us and I should not try to find them. They thanked God that Mike and I were there when they needed help as well as our minister. None of us have heard from them since and I hope they are doing well where ever they are. I just can’t tell you how much joy they brought to us and what lessons they taught us about life.
OK enough, I have to go blow my nose and wipe my eyes. You know I don’t have the Wink of Stella and every time I see one and once I get one, I will think of Sister Corda and you as well as my little family I helped.
I remember seeing Sister Corda on your blog and I thought how special that you had a 90 year old woman who had gotten the Stamping bug! I really didn’t know the special connection you shared but I am very touched by your friendship!! I, too have lost a very special lady so I know the sadness you feel! Rest assured that you brought much joy into her life!
