It’s A Pattern Party for the PALS Blog Hop

Welcome to the July 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month we’re having a Pattern Party! Hoppers will feature projects using their favorite Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper and coordinating embellishments. After all, color coordination is a Stampin’ Up! Strength.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

Paper, crafts, and glue are my everyday life! (In addition to stamping, I am a Pre-K teacher.) It was love at first sight when I saw this paper from Pick A Pattern Designer Series Paper!

DSP Pick a Pattern

This was a really easy project to do with some store bought letters! I simply traced my initials (which also stand for my blog, Just Stampin’) and cut them out.  I adhered them to the block letters using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. (I used the bold tip end to spread the glue evenly.) I embellished them with some ribbon and die cuts. The sentiment is from one of my favorite stamp sets, Crafting Forever. I popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This would make a great gift for teachers, friends, family, kids, anyone! Stampin’ Up! has so many patterned papers to choose from! How cute would it be to decorate a child’s name with pattern paper?! My son loved dinosaurs and there is a cool dinosaur pattern in this same paper pack. You could use the camera paper for a scrapbooker or photographer in your life or choose a pattern from the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper Pack for the coffee lover at work or home. You could even let the recipient color their own using the Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper. There’s so many possibilities! Check out this quick video from Stampin’ Up! showcasing some of the different designer series paper.

Your kit arrived yesterday and I’ve had great fun putting it together. Your instructions were impeccable.  Your pictures were beautiful and a big help in putting everything together. Obviously I am very pleased. And I will be ordering again if you have future kits.    Thank you so much,
Deborah M

There’s A New Chick In Town!

We had lots of fun with the chicken stamps from Sale-A-Bration.  Well, at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event last weekend, demonstrators got to see and play with some new products that will be coming out in the annual catalog in June.  Today I am going to share a sneak peek at one of those items, Wood Crate Framelits.  You can make fun packaging for small treats, gifts, and 3 x 3 cards.  I filled my crate with some chocolate chicks. YUM!img_1278

I thought this die made a cute chicken coup.  It was cut from the new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack (which will also be available in the new annual catalog). I can see using this new die to make lots of fun 3D Projects.

This idea was on one of the display boards at the event. Love it!

This die has what I always look for…versatility! I love to make 3D projects and this one will be great for gift giving!  My little “Chicken Coup” is going to my friend who raises chickens.  We are getting together next week to go to the beach for a few days. I can’t wait!

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner…

The other day I offered to send my swap card from the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event to a blog reader. (If you missed that post, you can see it HERE.) Happy Sheep Treat Holder

My daughter is home from college for Spring Break and I’m doing the happy dance!

We had a wonderful weekend!  We had hoped to see the cherry blossoms in D.C.; however, the storm last week made that a bust! So instead we spent the day in Virginia visiting Mount Vernon. (I’ve included some photos from our day at the end of this post.) George Washington may have been right when he said, “No estate in United America is more pleasantly situated than this…” My inspiration for today’s project is from the sheep in this photo I took as we enjoyed a beautiful day touring George Washington’s estate.

I bought some Lindt chocolate sheep at the grocery store awhile ago and knew I wanted to make something with them. There’s nothing like enjoying the simple pleasures of nature to inspire you to keep it simple. So that is just what I did!

My sheep holders are made from a 4 x 2 1/4 piece of Cucumber Crush cardstock.  I scored it at 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2.  I used the smallest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut the hole for the sheep.  I stamped some grass using the Basket Bunch Stamp Set and Cucumber Crush ink.  I folded along the score lines and adhered it with Tear & Tape. I cut the grass using the Basket builder Framelits Dies and adhered that to the back with Tear & Tape. I added some crinkled paper around the sheep. Quick & easy!

These are simply adorable and would make great table favors for Spring or Easter. When my family gets together for the holidays there are 22 or more sitting down to dinner. These treat holders are easy to mass produce.  Instead of scoring each piece individually, start with a piece of 8 x 11 cardstock and use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. With the 8″ side across the top, score at 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2, 4 1/2, 5 3/4, 6 1/4, 7 1/2.  Then cut it in half at 4″.  You will have 2 strips measuring 4 x 11.  Cut each strip at 2 1/4. You will end up with 8 holders from 1 sheet of cardstock.  I love making little treats like these!

Stamp Set: Basket Bunch (143186)  Ink: Cucumber Crush (138324) Paper: Cucumber Crush (138335)  Tools & Accessories: Basket Builder Framelit Dies (143228), Layering Ovals Framelits Dies (141706), Tear & Tape Adhesive (138995)  *You can purchase the Basket Bunch stamp set and Basket Builder Framelits Dies as a bundle (144731) and save 10%!

A Gift that Sparkles & Shines for the PALS Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for December 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects showcase products that can add sparkle and/or shine for a finishing touch. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Give a gift from the heart…a quick & simple handmade scented jar candle

The fresh scent of pine cones add to the Christmas feel during the holidays.  Not only do they smell good, they make pretty decorations and gifts too! I love to give handmade gifts and this DIY Scented Mason Jar Candle has some added “sparkle and shine”.   It’s also really quick and easy to make, inexpensive, and doesn’t use any hazardous chemicals! Simply fill a mason jar with some potpourri (or you could use fresh greens, pine cones, cranberries, and/or fruit slices) , pour in some extra light olive oil, and add a floating wick on top.  How easy is that?!  I purchased a pack of 50 floating wicks from Amazon for $6.00. If you have Amazon prime you can get these delivered fast and have plenty of time to put together beautiful gifts to give this holiday season. (You can make these with different seasonal potpourri for your decor or gifts throughout the year!)

Mason jar filled with potpourri, olive oil, and a floating wick

I added some metallic ribbon from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration catalog to wrap around the jar and add some sparkle.  This gorgeous ribbon is woven with shiny gold or silver accents.  You can get 2 rolls FREE with a $50 purchase (starting Jan. 4th).  One roll is white with silver accents and the other is very vanilla with shiny gold accents.

I used glue dots to attach the pine boughs and berries cut from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.  I also added some mini pinecones to go with the ones real ones that I put inside the jar. (These adorable mini pinecones are retiring so stock up now before they sell out!)

I made a matching 3 x 3 Very Vanilla gift card to go with the jar.  My card is a miniature version of one inspired by Mary Fish.  I heat embossed the sentiment from Christmas Pines with gold embossing powder and then added even more “sparkle” with the clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on top of the word “sparkle”. The DSP from Warmth & Cheer coordinates beautifully with this gift.

3 x 3 gift enclosure card using Warmth & Cheer DSP and Christmas Pines Bundle

This makes a nice gift for hostesses, teachers, hairdressers, friends, etc.  They are easy to transport with the lid on top. (Just use washi tape to attach the floating wick to the top of the jar so it doesn’t get lost in the oil while traveling.) One of the good things about these is they keep well and long. As the oil burns you simply refill with more olive oil.  You can add essential oils for whatever scent you prefer.

I hope you liked today’s project.  Subscribe to my blog for more card and gift giving inspiration.

Watch It Wednesday…Curvy Keepsake Apples

For some reason I had a craving for an apple on my way home from school yesterday. (Hmmm…I wonder if it has anything to do with my projects the last few days?  LOL ) When I got home I decided to make some treat boxes…apple ones of course! I really liked the more realistic look of the apples after I sponged them on my card the other day so I decided to give it a try with the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits.

Here’s a short video from Stampin’ Up! with directions for the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits.

I like to make the most of my paper so here’s how I cut 2 thinlits from a piece of 6 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock.

I sponged my pieces first using Pear Pizzazz and Delightful Dijon ink. Then I adhered them together with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.  I used my bone folder to curve the ends like she did in the video.

I freehand cut the stem from a scrap piece of Early Espresso about 1/2 x 1 1/2.  See the photo below for how I attached the stem with a glue dot so I could open and close the box easily.

Next I stamped the leaves from the Thoughtful Branches stamp set in Old Olive ink and cut them out with the coordinating die.  I attached these to the stem with glue dots.

This makes a nice gift filled with chocolate, caramels, jewelry, etc.  What would you like to receive in the box?  The curvy keepsake box is so versatile…I have used it to make graduation caps, table favors for Thanksgiving (turkeys), Christmas (Santa, ornaments, and reindeer), Easter, etc.  I have got my money’s worth out of this!  It even comes with 3 different tags to use with this or other projects.  Click HERE to go to my online shop and see everything you get.

Look how nice it goes with my other projects this week to make a great gift set.

Did you notice I used the Thoughtful Branches Bundle on all three of these projects?…the stamped tree and sentiment on the card, the stamped and cut out trunk on the Post-It note holder, and the stamped and cut out leaves on the curvy keepsake apple box.  Today is the LAST DAY this set is available.  I hope you got yours!  You don’t want to regret letting this set pass you by.

I made these apples for 2 eighth grade students who are going to help me out and set up the gym in the mornings for my little ones.  We don’t have a separate play area to leave everything out so we need to store the bikes, etc. in closets and take everything in and out daily.  My students learn quickly how to  clean up and put it back away so the big kids can use the gym after us. 🙂  I like to make little treats like these to give our helpers each year so they keep coming back. I think these will start the year off just right!

Thanks for stopping by!  Tomorrow is September 1st which means you can start shopping from the new holiday catalog. Lots of new ideas, stamp sets, designer series paper, and embellishments to choose from!  If you are not currently working with another demonstrator and would like a catalog, I’d be happy to send you one.
