Sunshine Wishes Gift Card Holder

My husband asked me to make a card for him for a coworker who is battling cancer.  He wanted it to hold a gift card to a restaurant.

This is my go to card “formula” for a quick & easy gift card holder:

Card base: 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 2 and 5 1/2.

Inside layer for sentiment: 4 x 5 1/4

DSP Layers:  4 x 3 1/4 (front), 4 x 1 3/4 (gift pocket), and 4 x 2 (inside).

I used the 2017- 2019 In Color, Powder Pink, and the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. The Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies had the perfect word die to go with the Support Ribbon Framelits. I used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to adhere a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to foam then cut it out with the die and glued it to the front panel. (*You can get a similar effect by cutting the die several times and gluing them together.)

I love all the different designs in the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Pack. They all work together.  I used 2 designs on the card and another one on the envelope.

You could easily adapt this card for any gift giving occasion by changing the DSP and the sentiment.  Great for birthdays, holidays, graduations, etc.

More Get Well Wishes

I am truly blessed with wonderful friends and family! Yesterday I shared some of the cards I received after I dislocated and fractured my elbow. (If you missed yesterday’s cards you can see them HERE.)  It’s been 3 long weeks and I am making progress; however, I still don’t have the strength in my arm to be able to create. (I have tried!!) This is the longest stretch I’ve gone without creating! For now, I have more beautiful cards that I received to share with you. I hope they brighten your day!

Sister Corda Blog Candy

Today is Sister Corda’s birthday.  It breaks my heart that she passed away 3 days ago. I had planned to share her birthday card today; however, I am going to share some blog candy in her honor instead. img_9443

If you know me or follow my blog, you have heard about Sister Corda. She was an amazing woman in so many ways! At 90 years old she was my oldest “Paper Pumpkin Player”, still made her delicious homemade candy to give to others, volunteered each week at the homeless shelter, helped out in my Pre K classroom, walked daily, and was completely devoted to her faith. She taught for many years and made a difference in so many lives! If you couldn’t remember something, you’d ask Sister Corda…she had a mind like a steel trap!

I had the pleasure of introducing Sister Corda to card making. I still remember the excitement and joy on her face when she made her first card. She continued to have just as much joy with each and every card she made.  She followed my blog daily (and would have something to say if I missed a day or two).  Often she would be waiting in my classroom in the morning with a list of items she needed or to show me something she created. Just recently she was so excited to start stamping her handmade Christmas cards and wanted a Wink of Stella brush.  I made this little bag (adapted from Pootles) to put it in to gift to her but never had the chance to give it to her before she went to the hospital.

We all have people who come in and out of our lives and some make a difference. Sister Corda has been a huge blessing in my life! Leave me a comment with the name of someone who has been a blessing in your life.  I will choose a random winner to send this gift bag with the Wink of Stella.

Sister Corda also enjoyed my “Just Stamping Card Kit and 3D Project Buffet To Go” kits and each month she would tell me to “put her on the list”.  In her honor I will be gifting one of my project kits each month.  Everyone who places an order for the kit will have their name in a drawing and one lucky recipient with receive “Sister Corda’s kit” for FREE. This month I am offering a special “Holiday Edition” of my monthly kit to go.  For details and ordering information click HERE. I will draw a winner prior to sending Paypal invoices (on the 26th) and let one lucky recipient know they are receiving their kit for FREE this month.

Sister Corda was truly an inspirational woman. She had such an impact on me and my family. My friend Paula said it best, “How lucky are we to have been blessed with the opportunity to witness complete devotion and love by a person who touched each of our hearts in a very personal way.”  Sister Corda would have been 91 years old today.  Here’s a few photos from her 90th birthday celebration at my home last year.
