Feeling Crabby?…Seas The Day!

Yesterday didn’t start out so well.  I was really disappointed because my plans (that I had put a lot of time and effort into preparing for) got cancelled. So when my friend Paula called to say she was picking up crabs for dinner and asked if I wanted to come, I decided to “Seas the Day”! I needed a quick hostess gift to bring so I made this simple wine tag.

Simple wine tag using Stampin Up So Many Shells and By the Seashore Stamp sets, Seaside Embossing Folder, and Color Theory DSP. For more ideas and to order Stampin Up product, visit my blog www.juststampin.com

It doesn’t get much easier or quicker that this!  I cut a 2 1/2 x 6 piece of Color Theory DSP and stamped the sentiment from So Many Shells using Night of Navy ink. I ran it through the Big Shot with the Seaside Embossing Folder then punched a circle from the top with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. The crab is from a retired stamp set (By the Seashore); however, it will remain in my collection forever.  (I live in Maryland and I love the beach and seafood!) The technique I used to color the crab can be done with other stamps. I simply stamped the image then, while the ink was still wet, I used the blender pen to color it in a little. All I had to do was cut it out and adhere to the tag! No fuss, quick & easy!

It was the perfect gift to bring to our crab feast! Look at all those crabs! YUM!

This was just 1 of 3 platters full!  This crew couldn’t even eat them all!

We had such a fun evening! When one door closes, another opens! I hope you “Seas the Day” and have a wonderful weekend! Cheers!

  1. Great idea with the wine tag; perfect hostess gift! I’ll never let go of my sea-themed stamps either, Funny what ones speak to us over and over. Thanks for the great inspiration with the embossing folder, too. Glad your day had a positive ending.

    1. I have lots of “sea themed” stamp sets and still use them all the time! If I can’t be at the beach, I can play with my shells and sand. LOL I feel like I just took it for granted growing up and never realized how much I need the beach until I am not near it!

  2. I see you had Maryland crabs and California wine! Good choice!! 🙂 Thanks for the tag reminder – always a cute addition to the wine bottle!

  3. So glad it brightened your day, and ours too!! Thanks for the wine and beautiful tag, and chauffeuring the Sisters so they could join too! You made it special….

  4. Cute idea! I had some wonderful crab cakes in D.C. once that sounds really good now. Crabs are ok but too much work for me to eat! Hey, I am lazy, I will admit it! The wine tag is so cute and so well done. Love it. I wished I still drank wine at times – so many choices. So glad you ended up having a great time since your plans fell through. I will keep your idea in mind for the future! Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one.

  5. If I invite you to my house, will you bring a gift like that?! Love the tag. Need to make up a few to have on hand for those last minute invites!
