My daughter is home from college for Spring Break and I’m doing the happy dance!
We had a wonderful weekend! We had hoped to see the cherry blossoms in D.C.; however, the storm last week made that a bust! So instead we spent the day in Virginia visiting Mount Vernon. (I’ve included some photos from our day at the end of this post.) George Washington may have been right when he said, “No estate in United America is more pleasantly situated than this…” My inspiration for today’s project is from the sheep in this photo I took as we enjoyed a beautiful day touring George Washington’s estate.
I bought some Lindt chocolate sheep at the grocery store awhile ago and knew I wanted to make something with them. There’s nothing like enjoying the simple pleasures of nature to inspire you to keep it simple. So that is just what I did!
My sheep holders are made from a 4 x 2 1/4 piece of Cucumber Crush cardstock. I scored it at 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2. I used the smallest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut the hole for the sheep. I stamped some grass using the Basket Bunch Stamp Set and Cucumber Crush ink. I folded along the score lines and adhered it with Tear & Tape. I cut the grass using the Basket builder Framelits Dies and adhered that to the back with Tear & Tape. I added some crinkled paper around the sheep. Quick & easy!
These are simply adorable and would make great table favors for Spring or Easter. When my family gets together for the holidays there are 22 or more sitting down to dinner. These treat holders are easy to mass produce. Instead of scoring each piece individually, start with a piece of 8 x 11 cardstock and use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. With the 8″ side across the top, score at 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2, 4 1/2, 5 3/4, 6 1/4, 7 1/2. Then cut it in half at 4″. You will have 2 strips measuring 4 x 11. Cut each strip at 2 1/4. You will end up with 8 holders from 1 sheet of cardstock. I love making little treats like these!

Hi Jeanie, Well Lindt’s are my favorite chocolates, the dark chocolates. I love Irish Step Dancing. I love sheep as an avid crocheter, I appreciate their wool . . . so I guess this is a triple great post. Again, you make them so easy, scoring the whole CS first. Super great hint.

Hi Nancy! I enjoy watching the process of wool to yarn. I grew up in Massachusetts and took many a field trip to Plymouth and Sturbridge. I also love to go back in time to Colonial Williamsburg. Ewe the best! I had not seen the sheep and I even looked at the Lindt bunnies today while shopping. Probably just as well as I would have been baaaaad and ate it!
