2018 Color Revamp

Color Revamp

The spice of life is variety, and that’s especially true in the world of color. Stampin’ Up! makes a point to keep an eye on color trends across different markets and industries. When they see changes happening, they review our color spectrum to ensure that we remain consistently on top of the trends. This brings us to the 2018 Color Revamp!

There are still four color collections, each with ten colors. There is also a new color group called Basics which includes 3 colors:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White.Stampin Up Color Collections - For ideas, ordering and more visit www.juststampin.com Jeanie Stark StampinUpThere are no changes to the In Color program. Every year we will continue to introduce five new In Colors that will be available for the ensuing two years.

In addition, the 2016-2018 In Colors are retiring:www.juststampin.com

*Please note that while Flirty Flamingo is retiring as an In Color, it will continue to be available as part of our core color collection.

In addition to new colors, Stampin’ Up! also redesigned our ink pads. The case is a new, more intuitive design and they’ve improved the formula of the ink, as well! (*FYI…You certainly do not need to replace all your current ink pads.  The new ink pads will just be a little different design and slightly different size.  They are slimmer and stackable. You will be able to purchase just the new colors without having to buy them all.) Here’s a look at the new stamp case.

New Classic Ink Pad

I  got my preorder the other day and I absolutely love the new colors!!! I can’t even pick a new favorite just yet (though they had me at Merlot)! I know my daughter is going to be thrilled with 2 new purples! Is there a new color that you are excited about? The new colors will be available in the 2018 Annual Catalog (available June 1st).  Would you like to get your hands on these colors before then?  Check back later this week to find out how! Or you could always sign up to be a demonstrator and preorder the new stuff for yourself! Contact me for more information!

Have a great day! It’s like the first day of school for me all over again. I’ve been unable to work for the last 3 months; however, after much Physical Therapy, I will be heading back into the classroom half days for now.  I can’t wait to see my kids again!!!

Retiring In Colors and more!

I am just returning from Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage convention in Hartford, Conn.  I had a blast!  It was so much fun getting together with my stamping friends!  Six of us rented a house just outside Hartford so we could extend our stay and have some stamping fun.  We didn’t get much sleep and I laughed so hard my sides hurt! I have so much to share with you in the weeks ahead but first I want to make sure you don’t miss out on some important information…

*The retirement list is coming out today, April 9th at 1PM (MT).  Be sure to check back! You can click on SHOP Stampin’ Up! from my blog (~3 PM EST) and then click on the retirement list. Items sell out fast once they release the list so if there is something you want, don’t wait! We will be saying good bye to the 2016 -2018 In Colors. I really love these colors!!! In Color Combinations

Do you need some color inspiration? Stampin’ Up! created this cool chart showing many different color combinations using the new 2017 – 2019 In Colors.  Just click on the chart below for a larger view and print ready copy.

2017incolorcombinations

Let’s get some inspirational chatter going…What’s your favorite color combination? You can probably guess mine by the number of cards I’ve made using it…yellow and black with white or vanilla. (Throw in some red accent pillows and you have my bedroom decor. LOL)  I am also a huge fan of classic navy and white…which works well with just about any accent color (including my favorite, yellow). I find I tend to grab for the same colors again and again so I’m trying to challenge myself to try some different color combinations. Let’s inspire each other with some new color combinations to try! Leave a comment with your favorite color combinations.

Have a great weekend!

A Mini Treat Bag for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #4

Stampin Up Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die gift card holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

img_4096

It’s Thursday so that means it’s time to play Tic Tac Toe!  I am so excited to be the designer for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  Of course my Tic Tac Toe Challenge is an abc board.  I hope you will pick 3 and play along! We have extended the contest until Tuesday at noon (CST) to enter. You do not need a blog to play along. Click HERE for all the details. Here’s this week’s challenge board.

TTTC004

I used all 9 elements on my project this week. Can you find them?

Stampin Up Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die gift card holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die to make a gift card holder. I embossed the bag using the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The DSP is from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. Happy Birthday is heat embossed using Dapper Denim Ink , VersaMark, and Clear Embossing Powder. (I love this shade of blue.) I colored the flowers using my blender pen and In Color Inks in Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist. I added a Perfect White Accent to my ribbon.

The mini treat bag is so easy to make using the dies.  Check out this short video to see how to put it together as well as some of the different projects you can make using these dies.

I love the versatility of these dies! Know what else I LOVE…the new 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Layered Leaves!!! You can create deep, dimensional embossed impressions so quick & easy.  It is a little different process to emboss because it is a thick folder. You need to spritz the paper first with water to get a deep impression.  Here’s a quick (3 min.) video explaining how it works and how to make your embossing “sandwich”.

I love the final results and can see using this embossing folder again and again.  It really adds a quick & easy WOW to any project!

Stampin Up Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die gift card holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Stamp Set: Label Me Pretty  Ink: Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, VersaMark  Papers: Lemon Lime Twist, Dapper Denim, Shimmery White, Whisper White, Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper  Tools & Accessories: Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies, Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Pretty Label Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Spritzer, Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon, Dapper Denim Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Dapper Denim Baker’s Twine, Perfect White Accent, Tear & Tape, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Hole Punch

I hope you will play along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge. It is really easy and fun to do!  I had never done a challenge before the TTTC and couldn’t believe how easy it is to create by simply choosing the elements from the challenge board. I knew I wanted to use the In Colors so I pulled the In Color DSP and Dapper Denim (for blue) and decided that I liked Lemon Lime Twist with the blue. I decided to include “gift” from the board and I immediately thought of a gift card holder. All I had to do was choose a stamp set and cardstock and let the items dictate what I create.  It is a fun way to make something different.  I am amazed at how quick & easy it is to come up with an idea when you have the items right in front of you. I did not start out intending to use all 9 elements but it just came together once I started to create using the different elements in front of me. Give it a try! Click HERE to see what the design team and others created this week.

You can purchase any of the products I used for this project by visiting my Stampin’ Up! website. To get a FREE thank you gift, simply enter the host code at checkout when shopping online.

Celebrate with Make a Medallion

img_0709

I can’t believe I waited until the last day of Sale-A-Bration to ink up the Make a Medallion Stamp Set!  I had so much fun layering these stamps with different color combinations.  Because this is a photopolymer stamp set, it is so easy to get perfect placement with each layer.  I used the In Colors cardstock and ribbon with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folder… I love the debossed impression you get.  This card is really quick and easy to put together.  I started with a Whisper White card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 scored at 4 1/4.  I embossed my In Color layer which measures 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered that to the card base.  The stamped layer is a 2 7/8 square which is layered on a 3 x 3 piece of coordinating cardstock and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Here are my color combinations:

img_0713

Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron

img_0712

Dapper Denim and Bermuda Bay

img_0710

Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry

img_0714

Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder

img_0711

Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie

Do you have a favorite color combination?  Check out this video from Stampin’ Up showing some different ways to layer with this stamp set.

As you can see from the video there are so many different ways to combine the stamps in this set! I didn’t even use the sentiments that fit nicely in the medallion! I like the way this stamp set looks with the Lovely Lace embossing folder which I used to decorate my envelopes.

img_0717

Happy Sheep Treat Holder

My daughter is home from college for Spring Break and I’m doing the happy dance!

We had a wonderful weekend!  We had hoped to see the cherry blossoms in D.C.; however, the storm last week made that a bust! So instead we spent the day in Virginia visiting Mount Vernon. (I’ve included some photos from our day at the end of this post.) George Washington may have been right when he said, “No estate in United America is more pleasantly situated than this…” My inspiration for today’s project is from the sheep in this photo I took as we enjoyed a beautiful day touring George Washington’s estate.

img_0348

I bought some Lindt chocolate sheep at the grocery store awhile ago and knew I wanted to make something with them. There’s nothing like enjoying the simple pleasures of nature to inspire you to keep it simple. So that is just what I did!

img_0442

My sheep holders are made from a 4 x 2 1/4 piece of Cucumber Crush cardstock.  I scored it at 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2.  I used the smallest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut the hole for the sheep.  I stamped some grass using the Basket Bunch Stamp Set and Cucumber Crush ink.  I folded along the score lines and adhered it with Tear & Tape. I cut the grass using the Basket builder Framelits Dies and adhered that to the back with Tear & Tape. I added some crinkled paper around the sheep. Quick & easy!

These are simply adorable and would make great table favors for Spring or Easter. When my family gets together for the holidays there are 22 or more sitting down to dinner. These treat holders are easy to mass produce.  Instead of scoring each piece individually, start with a piece of 8 x 11 cardstock and use the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. With the 8″ side across the top, score at 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 3 1/2, 4 1/2, 5 3/4, 6 1/4, 7 1/2.  Then cut it in half at 4″.  You will have 2 strips measuring 4 x 11.  Cut each strip at 2 1/4. You will end up with 8 holders from 1 sheet of cardstock.  I love making little treats like these!

P.S. One of my sheep has strayed…I am hoping it will brighten the day of one of my blog readers (AKA The Sheep Herder) who recently had knee surgery. I’m hoping Mary Ann has a speedy recovery and will be doing the happy dance just like the sheep in the video!

A Desk Calendar

Stampin Up In Color desk calendars using Perfectly Wrapped stamp set and Blossom Bunch Punch - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I made 50 of these desk calendars for the World Card Making Day swap in Atlanta last weekend.  I had so much fun swapping and wanted to give something they could enjoy all year long to remind them of our “Happy Day”.  If you follow my blog you know that I sell my cards at a local shop to help raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.  If you would like more information about these desk calendars please email me (j.stark@myactv.net).   These would make great gifts for teachers, hairdressers, coworkers, or just about anyone. Just a little reminder to make each day a “Happy Day”.

Here’s a close up of each of the colors.

R is for Ribbon

Welcome to my ABC’s of Stampin’ series. Today I am showcasing some of the gorgeous ribbon from Stampin’ Up! I absolutely LOVE how the ribbon coordinates with the paper and ink! The 2016-2018 In Color Ruched Ribbon is some of my favorite ribbon ever!! (I am already on my second rolls!!) If you have never tried Stampin’ Up ribbon before here is your chance!  I am offering a Ribbon Share to give you a sampling at a reasonable rate. You can order either set or both.  You will get 2 yards of each of the 5 colors in the set (10 yards) for $10.  Specify if you want 2015-2017 In Color  5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon or 2016-2018 In Color  3/8″ Ruched Ribbon.  If you want both sets the cost is $20.

Your ribbon will come on these cute little “spools” wrapped in a clear envelope.  If you purchase both sets I will send you 2 yards of Whisper White Organza Ribbon FREE as my Back to School Special. Do you remember when I shared how to dye the organza ribbon?  You can see that post HERE.

Here are some recent cards and projects I’ve made using these ribbons. Relax and enjoy the replay. (You can click on any photo to see that post.)

Now that you have had time to reflect on the ribbon projects, you will want to respond by emailing me your ribbon order (j.stark@myactv.net). Put Ribbon Share in the subject.  I will reply to let you know I received your order.  Orders will be sent out in October.

Hope you have a Relaxing day!

P.S. I am so laughing at myself right now as I just noticed something ridiculous in my post.  I could remedy it, but I’d rather have a little fun…see if you can find my error and report in the comments. I will pick a random winner to receive 2 yards of Organza Ribbon. ( I really did not plan this!!)
