Why Handmade Cards Make People Feel Extra Special

Meaningful connections with others can lead to a longer life, according to research cited by Stanford Medicine. They can also strengthen your immune system, lower levels of anxiety and depression, and lead to higher self-esteem. But you don’t need a scientific study to know that connecting with people just feels good.

Sending someone a card is a great way to reach out, and sending a handmade card makes the recipient feel extra special. A handmade card signals that you care about the person enough to spend time creating something just for them. It’s an added element that shows you care—especially when it comes with a sincere and personalized message from you written on the inside of the card.

My project for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge is a clean & simple card with a sneak peek at a gorgeous new Designer Series Paper, Garden Walk (available Sept. 6).

Here’s this week’s inspiration board.
I went across the bottom with Free, Leaves, CAS (Clean and Simple) Design. I also made Tic Tac Toe going down the middle with Frame It, Gold or Silver, and Leaves. This card came together fast!

Measurements:

Card Base (Basic White Thick): 5-1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Cardstock Layer (Poppy Parade): 4 1/4″ x 3
DSP (Garden Walk): 4″ x 2 3/4″, 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, 1/2″ x 6″ & 2″ x 6″ (envelope)
Scrap (Mossy Meadow): to punch stem from Bough Punch & 1 3/4″ Circle Punch
Scrap (Basic White) to stamp and die cut (Stylish Shapes) sentiment
Gold Twine (Simply Elegant Trim): ~5″ for bow

I also created this book style gift box for a team member who recently promoted. (She is a former librarian and loves books as much as I do!)

The ribbon is another sneak peek and I love it! It’s Calypso Coral Braided Linen Trim and it’s so easy to work with! It makes a nice “bookmark” (paired with a retired gold tassel) for my little box. *This project makes Tic Tac Toe on it’s own going down the middle.

I love the color combination used for these projects.
