A Pocketful of Happiness

Welcome to my 12 Days of Giveaways! Let’s start right off with today’s winner….Congratulations to Deanette! Email me (j.stark@myactv.net) your address and I’ll put a kit in the mail for you to make the votive candle boxes! I am having so much fun sending little gifts in the mail and I love reading all the comments! There’s still many gifts to go in my 12 Days of Giveaways!  All you have to do is leave a comment on my blog for a chance to win each day! Today’s project is one I recently sent to everyone who took advantage of my Free Shipping offer (through Cyber Monday). I hope they like their “pocketful of happiness”.

Stampin' Up! Pocketful of Happiness In Color note card / gift card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I knew I wanted to use the Pocket Dies.  The die makes the perfect pocket to slide in a gift card, cash, or in this case a check (to cover the cost of their shipping charges). The Pocketful of Happiness Stamp Set coordinates with the dies and is one of my absolute favorites from the annual catalog! I have used it for so many birthday and thank you cards. It has great sentiments I use all the time!

You can color the images with blends, markers, watercolor pencils, etc. I was inspired by Erica Cerwin’s tone on tone card and adapted it for my note cards. I loved making these cards using the different patterns in the 6 x 6 In Color DSP.

Stampin' Up! Pocketful of Happiness In Color note card / gift card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

These are really quick & easy to make! The DSP measures 3 x 4 1/2  and is adhered to a cardstock layer that is 1/8 larger. Stamp the pocket image in the same color ink as the cardstock and cut with the die.  Fold and burnish the score lines and add adhesive to the folded flaps (I recommend Tear & Tape or Liquid Glue). Add Wink of Stella to the dove and a couple pearls on the flowers. I used the Delightful Tag Topper to punch a 2 x 3 1/4 piece of Whisper White cardstock to put in the pocket (along with the check). A simple knot with the Scalloped Linen Ribbon adds a nice touch and makes it easy to pull out the stamped note. Inside the card I stamped the pretty floral image at the top and added a sticky note to write a personal message.  That way they can remove the sticky note and reuse the card to send to someone else! Pretty clever don’t you think?!

These make great birthday cards if you want to give cash or a gift card! Stamp the birthday sentiment from the set and you are done! Who wouldn’t love a pocketful of happiness like that?! Here’s some of the other ones I made using more In Colors!

How perfect is that floral image for the envelope?! Do you have a favorite In Color or DSP pattern? Leave me a comment and you could be the next winner in my 12 Days of Giveaways! The ladies at the post office are getting in on the fun as much as I am!  They want to know what’s in the envelopes I’m mailing out each day! They feel the envelopes and try to guess! LOL I’m lucky I live so close as I spend a lot of time there!!

Have a great day!

  1. I love these pockets full of love! The projects are all so beautiful. I think I need to make several as Christmas thank you’s for people like my UPS guy who goes WAY out of his way for me and the never-ending parade of Stampin’Up! deliveries that he handles! These cards are made all the more special with our current DSP packs. I am totally taken with the subtles and the current in-color packs. They are just so versatile. Thanks for sharing such creative ideas.

  2. This card using “A Pocketful of Happiness” is a true winner in my book. I have the retired stamp set “Pocketful of Sunshine” and will try to replicate what you did. The SU colors, stamp set and ribbon truly “dress this up”. I can see SO many reasons to make this card over and over again.

  3. I love the way you used this awesome stamp set and Die! I have totally forgotten about buying this when the new catalog came out! I am going to try using your inspiration cards and make some into Christmas gift card holders!
Thank you so much for sharing!

  4. Having a much better day today. Mike is doing much better today though there is the issue of the blood clot in his lung. Then to open your blog post with these wonderful pocket cards. Love these. Favorite, well I guess I have to choose Rocco rose for the gingham background. I think my next would be the terra cotta one. But, they are all wonderful. Thanks for brightening my day.

  5. I didn’t look twice at this stamp set in the catalog, but this card showed me just what a mistake that was! I love the tone on tone on it. Stunning.

  6. I love the way you used the pockets and the image on the envelope. For FSP, I think my favorite is the Bird Ballad DSP! I have birds outside my kitchen window, so the paper makes me think of them!

  7. WOW Jeanie, Now I want this stamp set and dies. I am enjoying your posts so much. I hope you enjoy doing them.
    Have a blessed day. 🙂

    1. (Hope this reply doesn’t post twice.) I had a P.S. I love the sticky note idea and yes is was very, very clever. 🙂

  8. This is a set that I totally overlooked! The cards you made with it are gorgeous. I am thinking that I know what to order next!

  9. I love these pocket cards! I also didn’t notice this set in the catalog. I hope I have enough money to buy at least the stamp set next year. I especially love the one in the Rococo Rose. And I really love all the scalloped linen ribbons. I am signing up for your emails so I can see them every time you post, ’cause sometimes I forget to look. I really enjoy your blog.
    Thanks!

  10. With your project today, you have encouraged me to purchase this stamp set and dies. Yay!
    Thank you for sharing!

  11. Cute pocket card! I love the checked paper (is it gingham? not sure of the right term) in those DSP In Color packs the best, but they are all pretty and fun!

  12. Well, how cute are these cards ! I really do not believe I have seen anybody show a card with this set kinda like the blue ,but I always love gingham so it is a hard choice . .
These pocket cards are perfect for money or gift cards . Guess this set goes on my ” to order wish list”
Prayers to Chris R. and Mike !!
