S is for Snowman

Welcome to my ABC Holiday 2019 Series! Throughout this series I have been sharing all kinds of cards, gifts, and ideas to help make your holidays as easy as ABC! The Snowman Season Stamp Set (Say that fast 3 times! LOL) and coordinating Snowman Builder Punch  make it quick & easy to create fun projects. Snowmen make winter fun! Take a look at this cute bundle.

I told myself I didn’t need this set because I had the Spirited Snowman stamp set from last year (which I also love)! However, I caved in and decided you can never have too many snowmen because these are just too stinkin’ cute! (Plus I love having the punch to coordinate!) This set has everything you need from fun snowmen, great sentiments for the front and inside, and all kinds of possibilities for different projects! I love that it has the to/from for tags too! This stamp set reminded me of a series of books about snowmen by Caralyn and Mark Buehner. One of my favorite books in the series is Snowmen at Night.

Snowmen At Night

This delightful, magical tale solves the mystery of what snowmen do at night. My kids enjoyed this story and would look at the book over and over again to find the hidden objects in every scene. It’s just one of those fun stories that appeal to all ages! I love to give books as gifts for kids (and adults too).  I always like to give something to go with the book/story. One of the activities the snowmen do in the story is drink hot chocolate. I made this simple slider card to hold a cocoa mix to give with the book.

This is a simple project to make. You could use DSP or cardstock to make the slider. I wanted mine to coordinate with the book so I chose to go with the Seaside Spray cardstock. It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 and is scored at 2 1/4 and 6.  I created a snowy background with the snowflakes stamp. I inked it up with VersaMark then heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder for a subtle shiny background. I folded along the score lines and added a piece of Tear & Tape to close it on the back. I used the Detailed Trio Punch to punch a hole at the top to thread the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon. You slide the cocoa mix inside the card and tie a bow at the top.  You just pull up the ribbon to get the mix.

You could easily adapt this with soup mix for a get well card or candy bars for special treats. Slider cards are quick & easy to make and fun to receive!

I stamped the snowman in Memento Black Ink and colored with my Stampin’ Blends. I cut the snowman and sentiment with the Stitched Shapes Dies and layered each with a scalloped border cut from Silver Glimmer Paper. I adhered the snowman and the sentiment to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I couldn’t resist adding the tiny snowballs from the Let It Snow Embellishment Kit.

If you have kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews to buy for this year, I recommend this book (available from Amazon) and fun treat. You could even give with a “Build A Snowman Kit” (a top hat, carrot nose, and scarf). If you have more than 1 child per family there are other great books in the series (Snowmen at Christmas, Snowmen at Work, Snowmen At Play, Snowmen All Year). Give one to each child along with a cocoa slider card and enjoy reading together!

Have a great day!
