Sweet Strawberry Berry Basket

The Sweet Strawberry Bundle is one of My Favorite Things in the new Mini Catalog. I paired it with one of my favorite Sale-A-Bration items, the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper, to create this berry basket for gift giving.

I love to make homemade strawberry jam. This past year was different (to say the least!) and I didn’t get to pick strawberries and make homemade jam like I normally would. I really like the Stonewall Kitchen products (Red Pepper Jelly is my favorite) so I decided to try their Strawberry Jam and it did not disappoint. I usually give my homemade jam to friends and family so I created this cute strawberry basket to hold this jar of jam.

It pairs perfectly with the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set and Strawberry Builder Punch. This set was one of the first sets I purchased from the new Mini Catalog (January – June 2021).

I used the stamp set and coordinating punch to create the tag for the top of my jam jar.

I cut out a Basic White circle using the Stitched Shapes Dies then stamped the strawberry vine image in Garden Green ink. I colored the leaves with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. The strawberry outline image is stamped in Poppy Parade ink then stamped again with the filler image and punched out using the Strawberry Builder Punch. I stamped the stem on Granny Apple Green cardstock with Garden Green ink and punched it out. Strawberry flowers are white with a yellow center and a touch of green. I punched the flower, used the Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend to draw some lines in the center, and added a bumblebee dot from the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots. The circle tag is adhered to the top of the jar with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I wrapped it all up in a cellophane bag with some Granny Apple Green ribbon. This makes a great hostess gift or a little something to brighten someone’s day. You could also give with some bread, bagels, or crackers as a housewarming gift.

Stampin' Up! Spotlighting technique thank you card idea with Forever Greenery and Stitched Rectangle Dies - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Today’s card showcases the “Spotlighting” technique. It is similar to Double Time Stamping except it is done using designer series paper instead of stamping on cardstock. Spotlighting is a quick & easy technique achieved with layering dies. I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies but you can use any Layering Dies to achieve this look. I would like to give a shout out and special thanks to Linda Heller for this technique reminder! I used one of my favorite suites in the new annual catalog, Forever Greenery.

One of my favorite things when creating is to use every scrap of DSP. This is a personal challenge of mine and I love it when there is no waste! This card meets the challenge!

Here’s the details:

Measurements

Garden Green: 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 for card base, 3 x 4 1/4 to cut Stitched Rectangle Die, 1/4 x 6 strip for envelope flap
DSP (Forever Greenery): 6 x 6 cut in to 3 pieces – 2 x 6, 4 x 5 1/4, 3/4 x 4
Whisper White: 4 x 5 1/4 (inside piece) scrap to stamp and cut with Stitched Oval
Old Olive: 3 x 4 to cut with Forever Flourishing Dies
Ribbon and Trim: 5″ (Pretty Peacock/Old Olive Reversible Ribbon), 9″ Gold Metallic Trim (from Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack)

Directions

Fold and burnish the card base.
Use Layering Rectangle Dies to center and cut 4 x 5 1/4 DSP with smaller of the dies. Use larger of the dies to cut Garden Green cardstock.
Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 DSP to the card base.
Adhere the die cut DSP to the die cut cardstock layer. Wrap ribbon around and secure on back then adhere to card base making sure to line up the design so it looks like one continuous piece of DSP.
Stamp sentiment on Whisper White scrap and cut with oval from Stitched Shapes Dies. Adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Cut Old Olive cardstock with Forever Flourishing die and Adhere with mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Make a triple bow with Gold Metallic Trim and adhere with a Glue dot.
Adhere the Whisper White and DSP strip to the inside of the card. There’s plenty of room to stamp a sentiment or add a hand written message.
Adhere Garden Green Strip and 2 x 6 DSP to envelope flap and trim to fit.

I made this card for my friend and neighbor! I usually fill the urns in front of our house with Kimberly Ferns. (*They don’t need as much water as Boston Ferns and stay healthy and full all summer long!) My friend noticed my empty pots this year and picked up some ferns for me and delivered them to my doorstep! She totally made my day! How perfect is this DSP as a thank you card for her?!

Measurements

Card Base (Pretty Peacock): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
Forever Greenery DSP: 3 1/2 x 5 1/2, 2 1/4 x 6 (for envelope flap)
Whisper White: 1 1/2 x 4 1/2 strip to stamp and cut with Ornate Layers Dies, 4 x 5 1/4 for the inside, scrap to stamp and cut greenery from Forever Flourishing Dies
Old Olive: scrap to cut greenery from Forever Flourishing Dies
Vellum: 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 to cut Stitched Circle Die

Directions

Fold and burnish the card base.
Layer the ribbons and adhere to the bottom of the DSP. Wrap and secure on back. (*I’d like to give a shout out and thanks to Mary Fish for sharing this layering idea.)
Adhere the DSP and ribbon layers to the card base.
Cut Vellum with largest Stitched Circle Die.
Stamp the sentiment from the Forever Fern Stamp Set in Pretty Peacock Ink. Cut with Ornate Layers Dies and adhere over Vellum circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp greenery in Pretty Peacock. Cut stamped image and Old Olive with Forever Flourishing Dies.
Adhere die cuts and gold accents (from Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty Paper).
Make a double bow with Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon and attach to card with a Glue Dot.
Adhere DSP to the envelope flap and trim.
