A Magical Birthday

Stampin Up Magical Mermaid and Star of Light 3 x 3 heat embossed birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

My daughter is turning 21 next week! We like to give birthday “experiences” and this year we surprised her with an early celebration.  We sent her the confirmation for her plane ticket for Fall break however; instead of a ticket to fly home, we sent her a ticket to Orlando!  She did not know that was her destination until she went online to check in 24 hours in advance and thought her dad had messed up the flight.  LOL  Needless to say, she was thrilled when she found out she was going to Universal Studios (the Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and we would be meeting her there.  We are HUGE Harry Potter fans and I can still remember reading aloud all seven books to her. Our son lives in Massachusetts and he took off from work and flew in to surprise her. We had a wonderful time!

We had a few other surprises for her too!
Stampin Up Broadway Bound 21st birthday gift card holder and mini pizza box game idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I found a “golden snitch” bracelet and made a special holder (which could also be used to hold a gift card).
Stampin Up Detailed With Love and Broadway Bound 21st birthday gift card holder - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love that you pull the ribbon to reveal the gift/card inside.

Details:
4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Gold Foil scored at 1 1/2 and 4. Punch a hole in the center using 1/4″ circle punch. Adhere with tear & tape on back.
Cut ~12″ ribbon and loop around cardstock (Gold Glimmer Paper) and slide inside.
Insert ribbon through hole and tie a knot.
Decorate front as desired.  I used Broadway Bound DSP and Gold Metallic Ribbon.
Pull ribbon to view/open.

We love to play family games and I found this fun idea on Pinterest.

I printed the cards on Whisper White cardstock and cut them out.  They were the perfect size to fit in a Stampin’ Up! Mini Pizza Box!

  2. Hi Jeanie, Great, super post. I love the gold for such a special occasion. Your pictures are great. I love the HP game and will definitely be making a few for Christmas. Thanks so much.

  3. Happy 21st to your daughter! What a great, fun surprise. I love the game and gift card holder.

My hubs and I celebrated our 40th anniversary last year and we asked our children if they wanted to do a trip with us to celebrate (I was thinking an island). Hubs and children (all in their 30’s) picked Universal Harry Potter World and we had the best time and made awesome memories. I am sure you are doing the same right now. Enjoy💜

  4. What fun. Happy birthday to your daughter. I love the idea of birthday experiences. It will be hard to top this one. I need to check out the Harry Potter game as my bedtime in Virginia loves anything to do with that subject.

  5. OMG, Jeanie, what a fabulous birthday experience for your whole family!! And the game is spectacular. Am CASEing for sure for my nieces and some of my GS. Love the glitz of the pull holder and the game box. Perfection, as ever!

  6. Amazing idea and my 21 year old would have thought she died went to heaven! Wish I could swing something similar for her college grad gift!

  7. I’m interested in instructions for the Harry Potter game. Are there instructions available?
