I am excited to share my card for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge. This week’s board was designed by my talented friend, Susan Itell.
It’s all about shapes for me this week. I chose the far left row going down: rectangle, circle, square. I created this fun fold birthday card.
I made a square card. The DSP has circle designs which I used to cut a rectangle to layer on the front. The sentiment is stamped on a square piece of cardstock cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. How easy it that to pick 3 and play along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge?! I hope you will join the fun!
This fun fold is a double Z fold design. Here’s how I made it…
I started with 2 strips of cardstock. The base piece is cut at 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 and scored at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4. The top strip with the sentiment is cut at 7 x 2 3/4 and scored at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4. The DSP layers for the base measure 1 7/8 x 4 (on front) and 4 x 4 (back right). The senitments are stamped on a 2 1/2″ square and 1 7/8 x 2 1/2. The last piece of DSP measures 1 7/8 x 2 1/2.
Apply glue to the back of the smaller strip (behind the DSP section only) and adhere to the center of the DSP on the card base.
Open the smaller Z fold to the right and close the front of the card base with the DSP panel. Apply glue just along the edges as shown and fold to close and adhere.
I added a bow from the 2017-2019 In Color Bitty Bows and some Pearl Basic Jewels.
The DSP from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper coordinates together nicely. Here’s a view of what the opened card looks like from above. I like this fun fold!
This card fits in a standard envelope or you could make a custom envelope using the Envelope Punch Board. What a great fold! I love the way it opens up. The colors are so vibrant and the “happy birthday” font is a perfect fit! Enjoy your day, Jeanie.
I love these cards and have made a few myself. The colors here really pop and I think it would be great for a male as well. Nicely done!
How gorgeous! How clever using the big dotted paper for the circle! How about I CASE this? Well, not today but I will be as this is stunning and I have everything but maybe not the Dapper Denim ink. Don’t know why I started with the “How” today. You definitely put the Happy in Happy Birthday with this card!
I was hoping someone was gonna pick that column! Love what you did. Took me a second to find the circle part but here I was looking only for cutout shapes! Funny what we imagine in our minds.
Love the fun fold and your take on the sketch! Really cute! TFS.
Oh! Thank you so very much for sharing this double z card tutorial! It’s so well done and your pictures are quite helpful. I can’t wait to try out this design. You and your paper crafting talents made my day!!!
Love your idea for this card.
Thank you for the instructions, so nice to have someone give us exactly how to make. thanks again Fran
May I please ask what size is this card? And what does it say on the inside? And what are the dimensions of the Folds?
Hi Lisa! The card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 for a square card. All the dimensions to make it are in the blog post above. Photos of the inside sentiments as well.
