Building A Sailboat for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #209

This week at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I am the featured designer. Here is the challenge board I created.

I started out intending to create a simple card going across the top row with: Decorate Envelope, Patterned Paper, Any Shape. Well, as is usually the case when I’m creating, my project evolves and changes throughout the process.

It’s still a pretty simple card; however, it has several layers and lots of texture! My card has 8 of the 9 elements from the challenge board so I decided I needed to go “all in” and created an origami sailboat to coordinate (Anything But A Card). I had so much fun creating these sailboats I ended up making a whole fleet. (LOL)

I used 3″, 4″, and 5″ squares of DSP to create these. I love the mini 3″ version but the only place I could fit a lifesaver was in between the sail. (LOL) The simple sailboat makes Tic Tac Toe all by itself going down the middle: Patterned Paper, Free, Anything But A Card! How cool is that?!

This card and sailboat is for a friend of mine who loves sailing! She recently had a double lung transplant and is doing remarkably well!! It’s really a miracle to behold! I thought the “lifesavers” were a fitting treat to put in the sailboats. She is looking forward to sailing again once she’s fully recovered. For now we can enjoy watching the Friday night sailing races along the shore.

Here are the details if you would like to create this card.

Card Base – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4  (Thick Basic White)
Layer 1 – 3 3/4 x 5  (Poppy Parade)
Layer 2 – 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 (Blueberry Bushel Glorious Gingham DSP)
Layer 3 – 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 banner (Poppy Parade)
Layer 4 – 2 x 4 1/4 strip (Poppy Parade)
Layer 5 – 1 7/8 x 4 1/4 striped DSP (Boho Blue from In Color DSP Assortment)
Layer 6 – 2 1/2″ Stitched Circle cut from Stylish Shapes (Blueberry Bushel)
Layer 7 – 2 3/8″ Punched Circle embossed with waves (Boho Blue)
Sailboat-Punched with Sailboat Builder Punch in Basic White and Pecan Pie
Sail is stamped with sentiment from Go To Greetings in Blueberry Bushel ink.
I used Thick Bakers Twine to create the nautical knot along the top of the banner.
Banner, strip across the middle, and Circle Layer are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cheerful Daisies for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #207

It’s Tic Tac Toe Thursday!  I love creating using  elements from the Tic Tac Toe Challenge. Today’s card is buzzing spring with Cheerful Daisies.Stampin' Up! Cheerful Daisies birthday card idea- Jeanie Stark StampinUp
This week’s board was designed by my friend Rosanne. I created Tic Tac Toe three different ways using all but two of the elements. Can you figure out which ones I’m missing?

Today’s card is a pocket card with a hidden message. It’s a fun surprise!

You could easily put a gift card or monetary gift in the pocket. I didn’t stamp a sentiment on the inside of my card as I often like to add a handwritten note.

Here are the details if you would like to make this card.

Card Base – 4 1/4  x 11 scored at 5 1/2  (Crushed Curry)
Layer 1 – 4 x 5 1/4 (Garden Green)
Layer 2 – 3 3/4 x 5 (Basic White)
DSP and cardstock diagonal pieces – 3 3/4 x 3 cut at a diagonal
Pocket insert – 2 1/2 x 3 3/4 (Basic White), 2 3/4 x 4 (Crushed Curry)
Inside- 4 x 5 1/4 (Basic White), 1/4 x 4 (Garden Green). 3/4 x 4 DSP
Scraps of Basic White to stamp and die cut flowers
Cut the Basic White layer with the Stitched With Whimsy Dies and stamp the sentiment in the center. Emboss the diagonal layer then apply adhesive to the sides and bottom of the diagonal pieces and adhere to the Whisper White layer. *Make sure you do not add adhesive on the diagonal so you can insert the flowers in the pocket. Adhere this layer to the Garden Green then adhere to the card base. Tie a bow with ribbon and adhere with a Mini Glue Dot.
Stamp and die cut the flowers for the pocket insert and inside layer. Add cardstock and DSP strips to the envelope and trim.

Love Cats for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #205

It’s Thursday and you know what that means…It’s time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge! I chose to make a slimline card this week using the Love Cats Stamp Set.
Stampin' Up! Love Cats slimline card idea-Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Here’s this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board that provided the inspiration.www.tictactoechallnge.com
I chose to go down the left side with slimline. three, cute.
Did you notice my elements of 3? (3 hearts and 3 different pieces/patterns of DSP)
The Love Cats stamp set has three “paw-sitively”  irresistible felines that are “purr-fect” for the cute element on my card! Take a look at this set which is retiring soon.

I used another cat image on the inside of my card. (I could/should add the third cat at the bottom.)
