Happy Birthday Carl!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  He spoils me 364 days of the year so I am excited to surprise him today! We recently attended a Casino Night fundraiser for my school and had such a great time. Here’s a photo of us from the event.

I thought I would continue the theme for his birthday.  Here’s the card I made for him.

Stampin Up birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used several retired stamp sets, dies, and DSP to create this card. I know my husband is going to love it! The red glimmer paper and silver foil really make this card sparkle! Here’s a close up of the “slot machine”. The lever actually pulls down! I fussy cut the cherries from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired).

Some chocolate covered “casino chips” add a sweet treat.

Can you guess his birthday gift? I made these “dice” to go with the card to hold his “chips” and added surprise.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Cube Box idea - Jeanie Stark Stampin Up

The cube box is quick & easy to make with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I started with a piece of 8 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock.  With the long side across the top I scored it at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10.  I scored the short side at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2.

Look at the photo below to see where to cut to make the box. Remove the little rectangle from the bottom of the box and cut up each of the score lines along the bottom. You remove quite a bit from the top of the box just saving one section for the top/lid. Notch the ends to make it easy to close the box.

Apply Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the box. Fold the bottom flaps in and adhere with Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive.  I punched 3/4″ circles and adhered with Multipurpose Glue to the sides of the boxes to look like dice.

For his birthday gift, I booked a weekend getaway at the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino.  I wanted to include a little extra surprise with some “gambling” money. The cube box is a great way to give cash. I folded $ in thirds accordion style and attached with washi tape. The washi tape can be removed without tearing the bills. It is so much fun to pull the top bill and see what looks like a never ending money box!

I hope he’s feeling lucky! I love the way this makes such a fun gift presentation.

With Love for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #12

Treat box made with Stampin Up Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, Wood Crates Framelits, and Labels to Love Stamp Set. For details and more visit my blog, www.juststampin.com

I left a piece of my heart in Georgia earlier this week.  I am finally home after moving my daughter back to college, watching the eclipse, and dealing with 16 hours of traffic, construction, and several accidents on the drive home! I need some stamping therapy!

I made this little box for my daughter. I tucked it in with her stuff for her to find after we left.

I’ve made little boxes like this before. They can hold a Rocher chocolate or in this case, a big Hershey kiss! You can click HERE to see the previous post with the measurements and tutorial. I changed it up a bit this time and punched two holes at the top to thread the ribbon through to tie a bow. You could just as easily add a library clip or binder clip.

I chose elements from this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board.  I hope you will pick 3 and play!  I went down the left column: love, gold, die cut.

The beautiful gold foil paper is from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, the heart die cut is from the Wood Crate Framelits, and the sentiment is from the new Labels to Love Stamp Set (available Sept. 1).

This stamp set coordinates with another new item in the Holiday Catalog, the Everyday Label Punch.  I love the versatility of this stamp set. You can make cards and treat holders for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Valentines, or any occasion (using the blank label)! I used the little “Made with Love” sentiment on my box.

A Treat Holder for any Occasion

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my blog!  If you missed that post you want to check it out  HERE and leave a comment for a chance to win some blog candy. My very first blog post was a treat holder for the Fourth of July and I promised I would share what I made for this year’s cookout.

Stampin Up candy treat holder. Quick & Simple treat box. For directions and more visit juststampin.com

These are really quick and easy to make and the best part is all you have to do is change the paper and die and you can have a treat holder for any occasion. I’m thinking a pumpkin for Halloween, leaves for Thanksgiving, a  pine tree (or today’s star in some glimmer paper) for Christmas, hearts for Valentine’s Day…you get the idea.  Here’s the details how to make these sweet and simple treat holders…

Start with a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 cardstock. (You can make 4 treat holders from 1 sheet of cardstock.) Score the short side at 1″ and 3 1/4″. Score the long side at 2 1/4″ and 3 1/4″.

Fold and crease along the score lines. With the long side facing you, cut up to the 1″ score line on both sides. Notch the center pieces so it will fold easily.

img_4346

Add Tear & Tape or Fast Fuse as shown. You want to secure the tabs first then adhere the front flaps back.

How easy is that?! Then just decorate your treat holder as desired. I used the star die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and added a Metallic Enamel Star in the center. The 3′ x 6″ Gusseted Cellophane Bags were the perfect size to fill with some patriotic Hershey Kisses.  I tied the bags with Pacific Point 1/4″ Stitched-Edge Ribbon. Here’s the different color combinations I made.

Every year I make the same cake for our cookout…it’s a simple jello poke cake with whip cream on top and decorated to look like a flag. It’s yummy!

Both the cake and the treat holders were a big hit! I hope you were able to celebrate the holiday with family & friends! Do you have special holiday food or traditions? I would love for you to leave a comment below.
