Impossible Fun Fold Card Tutorial

Yesterday I shared a fun fold card called the “Impossible Card Fold”.  I’m here to show you it’s anything but impossible! It’s super simple and fun to make. Here’s another look at my card.

Stampin Up Free As a Bird Fun Fold All Occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Here’s the details how to make it…

  1. 1.Start with a piece of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card stock.
  2. With the 4 1/4″ side at the top of the score board, score at 2 1/8.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Impossible fun fold card tutorial - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

2. With the 5 1/2″ side at the top, score at 2 3/4″ just to the score line across the middle.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Impossible fun fold card tutorial - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

3.  Flip so the other 5 1/2″ side is at the top and score at 1″ and 4 1/2″ just to the middle score line.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Impossible fun fold card tutorial - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

4. Cut along the score lines on the 5 1/2″ side from the top to the middle score line and from the bottom to the middle score line. (*Don’t cut the middle score line.)

5. Now comes the fun part! Hold one side (I held the left side) and flip the other side back and then fold the center piece forward. It’s that simple!!!!!

To decorate, I cut 2 pieces of DSP 2 x 2 5/8 and 2 pieces 7/8 x 2. The stamped banner piece measures 3/4 x 4 1/4 and the layer measures 7/8 x 4 1/4. I put both banner pieces together and slid them in the top of the Everyday Label Punch. *Make sure it’s centered before punching. Offset the top layer before adhering.  Stamp sentiment and punch a hole with the 1/8 ” Handheld Circle Punch. (A shout out to Linda Heller for this cool punch trick!!!)

Take a 6″ piece of ribbon and fold in half.  Thread through the hole then slip the ends through the loop. Adhere across the front of the card.  Trim ends of the ribbon.

Stampin Up Free As a Bird Impossible Fun Fold All Occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I fussy cut the flower from a scrap of DSP and adhered with a glue dot. I stamped the birds on Whisper White with Soft Suede ink and let dry before coloring with my Stampin’ Blends. I cut it out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies and adhered to the card. This card folds flat and fits in Stampin’ Up!’s standard medium envelopes. I decorated the envelope flap with the same beautiful Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

I hope you will give this fun fold a try now that you see it’s NOT “Impossible” at all!!!!

Simply Scored Fun Fold for the Pals Blog Hop

2019 April Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ May  Blog Hop. We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects with “More Than One Score.” You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I love fun fold cards! I have been wanting to make this one for some time now but, the name, “Impossible Fold”, sounded intimidating.  Let me just say, this card is anything but impossible!  In fact, it is a really simple fun fold to make!

Stampin Up Free As a Bird Fun Fold All Occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used the Free As a Bird Stamp Set and and Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper which will be available in the new annual catalog when it debuts June 4th. Demonstrators were able to see and play with new products at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event.  This suite was used for one of the make ‘n take projects.  I like to challenge myself and use the make ‘n take products to make something a little different.

This fun fold starts with a piece of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 cardstock.  A few simple scores (4 to be exact) turns what would be a flat card in to a cool pop up!

Stampin Up Impossible Fun Fold Card base - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I will share the full color tutorial with directions and measurements on my blog tomorrow.  Make sure you subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out! Here’s a look at the side view.

Stampin Up Free As a Bird Impossible Fun Fold All Occasion card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love the new scalloped lace trim too! (I’ll share how I made the fun banner tomorrow.) I had fun coloring the birds with the Stampin’ Blends. You could just as easily watercolor with ink or use Stampin’ Up!’s watercolor pencils. Just think of all the color possibilities for these cute little birds!

This fun fold card would look great propped up on a desk or bookcase.  Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for the photo tutorial so you can make one for someone special!

Stampin Up Year of Cheer and Merry Little Labels gift box idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

‘Tis the season of giving! I love to create my own packaging for gifts and when it comes to giving monetary gifts (which seems to be the preference for teenagers and young adults)  it’s fun to add a little surprise element. Hopefully this little box does just that! This “never ending money box” is fun and easy to make with just a few supplies…Simply Scored Scoring Tool, adhesive, and washi tape (and $ of course).  You can embellish the box as much or as little as you like.  Pretty ribbon and a tag do the trick !

Stampin Up Year of Cheer and Merry Little Labels gift box idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

My son and two nephews are going up north skiing and snowboarding after Christmas so I know they can use a little extra cash.  I thought the gorgeous snowflake paper and sentiment from Merry Little Labels would be perfect for their boxes. It certainly doesn’t look like your typical monetary gift. Take a peek inside…

Washi Tape holds the bills together and you just fold in thirds accordion style to make it look like a lot more $.  I heat embossed the label with Silver Embossing Powder and punched another label using the Silver Glimmer Paper. You can use these boxes for more than just money! I used the Large Letters Framelits to monogram my other box. You could fit jewelry, small candles, etc. in the box.

Stampin Up Year of Cheer and Merry Little Labels gift box idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

There’s so many possibilities for how you can decorate these boxes. Yesterday I shared a fun set of “dice” boxes I created for my husband’s birthday. They look totally different from today’s boxes yet they were made the same way.

Click HERE for measurements and directions to make the cube box.

Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on December 13, 2017. Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. Don’t forget to leave us a comment. We really like that.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Carl!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  He spoils me 364 days of the year so I am excited to surprise him today! We recently attended a Casino Night fundraiser for my school and had such a great time. Here’s a photo of us from the event.

casino night me and carl

I thought I would continue the theme for his birthday.  Here’s the card I made for him.

Stampin Up birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used several retired stamp sets, dies, and DSP to create this card. I know my husband is going to love it! The red glimmer paper and silver foil really make this card sparkle! Here’s a close up of the “slot machine”. The lever actually pulls down! I fussy cut the cherries from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired).

Stampin Up Simply Socred slot machine birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Some chocolate covered “casino chips” add a sweet treat.

Stampin Up birthday card slot machine idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Can you guess his birthday gift? I made these “dice” to go with the card to hold his “chips” and added surprise.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Cube Box idea - Jeanie Stark Stampin Up

The cube box is quick & easy to make with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I started with a piece of 8 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock.  With the long side across the top I scored it at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10.  I scored the short side at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2.

Look at the photo below to see where to cut to make the box. Remove the little rectangle from the bottom of the box and cut up each of the score lines along the bottom. You remove quite a bit from the top of the box just saving one section for the top/lid. Notch the ends to make it easy to close the box.

Visual for Cube Box made with Stampin Up Simply Scored tool - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Apply Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the box. Fold the bottom flaps in and adhere with Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive.  I punched 3/4″ circles and adhered with Multipurpose Glue to the sides of the boxes to look like dice.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Cube Box idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

For his birthday gift, I booked a weekend getaway at the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino.  I wanted to include a little extra surprise with some “gambling” money. The cube box is a great way to give cash. I folded $ in thirds accordion style and attached with washi tape. The washi tape can be removed without tearing the bills. It is so much fun to pull the top bill and see what looks like a never ending money box!

I hope he’s feeling lucky! I love the way this makes such a fun gift presentation.

With Love for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #12

Treat box made with Stampin Up Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, Wood Crates Framelits, and Labels to Love Stamp Set. For details and more visit my blog, www.juststampin.com

I left a piece of my heart in Georgia earlier this week.  I am finally home after moving my daughter back to college, watching the eclipse, and dealing with 16 hours of traffic, construction, and several accidents on the drive home! I need some stamping therapy!

I made this little box for my daughter. I tucked it in with her stuff for her to find after we left.

Treat box made with Stampin Up Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, Wood Crates Framelits, and Labels to Love Stamp Set. For details and more visit my blog, www.juststampin.com

I’ve made little boxes like this before. They can hold a Rocher chocolate or in this case, a big Hershey kiss! You can click HERE to see the previous post with the measurements and tutorial. I changed it up a bit this time and punched two holes at the top to thread the ribbon through to tie a bow. You could just as easily add a library clip or binder clip.

I chose elements from this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board.  I hope you will pick 3 and play!  I went down the left column: love, gold, die cut.

img_5970

The beautiful gold foil paper is from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, the heart die cut is from the Wood Crate Framelits, and the sentiment is from the new Labels to Love Stamp Set (available Sept. 1).

This stamp set coordinates with another new item in the Holiday Catalog, the Everyday Label Punch.  I love the versatility of this stamp set. You can make cards and treat holders for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Valentines, or any occasion (using the blank label)! I used the little “Made with Love” sentiment on my box.

A Treat Holder for any Occasion

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my blog!  If you missed that post you want to check it out  HERE and leave a comment for a chance to win some blog candy. My very first blog post was a treat holder for the Fourth of July and I promised I would share what I made for this year’s cookout.

Stampin Up candy treat holder. Quick & Simple treat box. For directions and more visit juststampin.com

These are really quick and easy to make and the best part is all you have to do is change the paper and die and you can have a treat holder for any occasion. I’m thinking a pumpkin for Halloween, leaves for Thanksgiving, a  pine tree (or today’s star in some glimmer paper) for Christmas, hearts for Valentine’s Day…you get the idea.  Here’s the details how to make these sweet and simple treat holders…

Start with a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 cardstock. (You can make 4 treat holders from 1 sheet of cardstock.) Score the short side at 1″ and 3 1/4″. Score the long side at 2 1/4″ and 3 1/4″.

Fold and crease along the score lines. With the long side facing you, cut up to the 1″ score line on both sides. Notch the center pieces so it will fold easily.

img_4346

Add Tear & Tape or Fast Fuse as shown. You want to secure the tabs first then adhere the front flaps back.

How easy is that?! Then just decorate your treat holder as desired. I used the star die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and added a Metallic Enamel Star in the center. The 3′ x 6″ Gusseted Cellophane Bags were the perfect size to fill with some patriotic Hershey Kisses.  I tied the bags with Pacific Point 1/4″ Stitched-Edge Ribbon. Here’s the different color combinations I made.

Every year I make the same cake for our cookout…it’s a simple jello poke cake with whip cream on top and decorated to look like a flag. It’s yummy!

Both the cake and the treat holders were a big hit! I hope you were able to celebrate the holiday with family & friends! Do you have special holiday food or traditions? I would love for you to leave a comment below.

Let’s Celebrate

I had an amazing fun filled weekend at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event in Richmond, Virginia! I will be sharing sneak peeks with you just as soon as I can. (Check back this afternoon for a sneak peek at this month’s Paper Pumpkin!)

What I can share with you is the card I made for the card swap. Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators love to share cards and projects to inspire you and each other.  Here are the cards I made.

img_1201

I love to make fun fold cards!  This one is a free standing triple panel card and not only is it really quite easy to make, it’s also useful for many different occasions…birthday, anniversary, graduation, retirement, new baby, or any event you want to celebrate.  I made 50 of these (the day before I left). When I make multiple cards I do it assembly line style. I cut everything, then score, emboss, stamp, and finally assemble. Most of the time I use the Stampin’ Trimmer to score my cards. However, for this project I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and quickly scored 26 pieces of cardstock.

img_0902

My cardstock measures 8 1/4 x 11.  With the 8 1/4″ length across the top, I scored it at 1 1/4, 2 1/4, 6, and 7.  ThenI  cut it in half to make 2 pieces measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/4.  I folded the sides back and forth along the score lines to create the panels then I embossed the ends using the Confetti Embossing Folder. I used the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Dies (and the Precision Base Plate) to cut the center panel from a piece of 3 1/2 x 5 1/4 piece of whisper white. I stamped the sentiment and banner from the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set using Night of Navy ink. (The photopolymer stamps make it so easy to see exactly where you are stamping.) I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to punch the balloons from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack as well as Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay cardstock.  I attached the balloons using Multipurpose Liquid Glue then adhered the center piece to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used a glue dot to attach the bow.  (I wish I had a picture of me making the bows and attaching the Stampin’ Dimensionals in the back seat of the car during the drive to Richmond Friday afternoon. Nothing like last minute! LOL)

Here’s a look at the finished projects.  Which color do you prefer?

The cards fold flat and fit in a standard envelope.  I packaged each in a clear envelope for swapping.

The inspiration for my card today came from the beautiful spring wreath my sister made me for my birthday.  We celebrated a little early this year and I couldn’t wait to hang it on my front door.

I love the way she personalized my wreath with the big monogrammed letter.  To recreate this beautiful wreath, I used the Large Letter Framelits to cut the letter S from Daffodil Delight cardstock. I stamped the wreath from Wondrous Wreath in Old Olive and then turned it slightly and stamped it again without reinking. I cut it out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. I punched flowers from Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight cardstock using the Tree Builder Punch and Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  I curled the flowers using the end of my stylus to give them some dimension. I added a little Pear Pizzazz ink to the center of the yellow flowers using my blender pen.  I used the Everyday Jar Framelits to cut some stems from Always Artichoke and Old Olive  cardstock to add some more greenery to my wreath.  I popped up the wreath and monogram with Stampin’ Dimensionals and attached the greenery and flowers with glue dots.img_0087

My sister has made me several wreaths before and every year a bird builds a nest in our wreath and lays eggs. This wreath came complete with a bird and eggs so perhaps we will get to use our front door this year.  I made my nest with linen thread and just wrapped it around my finger and attached it with glue dots.  The “eggs” are punched from the Tree Builder Punch.  I tucked the tips of the “leaves” into the nest so you just see the rounded end.  I used Melon Mambo Thick Bakers Twine and Old Olive Bakers Twine to make my bow and attached it with a glue dot.

My card base is a 4 1/4″ square from Sahara Sand cardstock.  I cut a 4″ square and scored it at 1/2″ on all four sides using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I like the way the scoring highlights and frames the wreath.  I used the Envelope Punch Board to make a matching custom envelope for my card. The Envelope Punch Board (133774) is one of my favorite tools and it’s a bargain for just $20! Not only is is so easy to use to make custom envelopes but it also makes great treat holders and other 3D items. Check out this video and see just how easy it is to use!

Another favorite of mine is embossing folders…they make it quick and easy to add depth and texture.  I used the Floral Affection Embossing Folder to add some texture and fun to the envelope flap.

Happy New Year!

img_7991
Start a new family tradition!

A friend of mine posted this idea on Facebook and I knew this was something I could do and enjoy with my family. It’s quick & easy!  I decided to spruce up my jar to make it part of my decor so I could set it out and be reminded to do it throughout the year.

I had a Longaberger mason jar in my pantry and decided to use that.  I love and use Longaberger baskets throughout my home and craft space to keep things organized. My husband buys the tree trimming basket for me every year and I put those on a tree in our kitchen for the holidays. You can see in the photos that I chose the colors for my jar and paper holder to match the table runner and curtains in my kitchen.

My Longaberger basket tree.  I fill the baskets with candy for the holidays.

I made a belly band for the mason jar using a 2 inch strip of soft suede cardstock. I used the Scalloped Tag Topper to punch each end and threaded mint macaron mini striped ribbon through the ends and tied a bow. I heat embossed the sentiment from Paisleys and Posies with clear embossing powder.  To emboss any color all you have to do is ink your stamp in VersaMark first, then ink it in whatever color you want and stamp it on your cardstock. Add clear embossing powder and heat it.  I used mint macaron ink for the sentiment.  I used the Layering Circles Framelits to cut a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock for the lid.  I stamped the flower from Flower Shop Stamp Set with soft suede ink and punched it out with the pansy punch.  I also punched a mint macaron flower and attached both to the top of my jar with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I can’t wait to start adding wonderful memories to the jar!

I found a pad of paper in my desk drawer that was the perfect size to fit in a business card holder.  You can click HERE for directions how to make the business card holder.  You can easily cut copy paper to size (2 x 3 1/2) to fit in the holder or just use any little paper pack.

IMG_8281

I used soft suede cardstock and ink for my paper holder along with the same mint macaron ribbon I used on my jar.  I love how the flower from Flower Shop Stamp Set matches the flower in my material.  I punched the flower out with the pansy punch and attached it with a dimensional.  I used the date stamp on the rotary punch from the December Paper Pumpkin kit to stamp my paper.

I am going to send my daughter back to college with some of these papers in a stamped envelope for her to write on and then send home when she has them completed.  I am hoping I can get my son and husband to add their good blessings to the jar too! What fun this will be to share a year from now.

I am not one to make new year resolutions.  Mainly because I never seem to be able to keep them. This is something I know I can do and I love that it is a wonderful way to reflect upon and remember the many blessings. I hope this has inspired you to use what colors you have to create one for yourself or as a gift. If you would like to purchase any of the products I used you can Click HERE to shop my online store.

Last night we rang in the new year doing something we’d never done before. We usually travel over the holidays and visit family in Massachusetts.  This year our plans changed and we stayed home. We decided to check out the local celebration that has become a New Year’s Eve tradition in our small town. New York City may have the ball dropping at midnight but, here in Hagerstown, Maryland we have a Donut Drop.  A local family owned business, Krumpe’s, makes the most delicious donuts and they gave away 6,000 free donuts last night to everyone who assembled downtown to watch the annual Donut Drop countdown. I am all about trying new things and we had a fun time with my daughter and her friend.

Thanks for stopping by!  I wish you and your family a happy, healthy New Year filled with many blessings!

A Blessing Box

img_6827
A Fold-over Box using the card base and contents from the October 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit

Yesterday I shared some of the alternative ideas my Paper Pumpkin Players made with the October 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit. I promised I would share with you today how to make the fold-over box using one of the cards in the kit.  I have made lots of these boxes in the past using a piece of 4 1/4 x 7 1/2 card stock.  I really like how the cards in the kit are colored on the outside and whisper white on the inside. The card in the kit comes prescored so first you need to cut 1 inch from the card base so it measures 4 1/4 x 7 1/2.  With the long side across the top (make sure the prescored line is at the 4 1/4″ mark), score at 1, 3 1/4, and 6 1/2.  (*If you were making this with a piece of card stock you would also need to score at 4 1/4. The card in the Paper Pumpkin kit is already scored at 4 1/4.)  Then with the short side across the top, score at 1 and 4 1/2.

Cut up to the scored lines along the long side using your paper snips. Notch each of the 6 tabs and add tear & tape (or other strong adhesive) on each of the notched pieces.

Adhere the notched to the rectangle pieces to form the box.

You can decorate your box top as desired and add a small gift (jewelry 🙂 ), candy, etc.

Every year I make a Blessing Mix for Thanksgiving and this box is the perfect size to use as table favors or gifts.  I typed the “recipe” and cut them apart. It fits nicely in the bottom of the box with the blessing mix on top.
