R is for Reindeer

Welcome to my ABC Holiday 2019 Series! Throughout this series I have been sharing all kinds of cards, gifts, and ideas to help make your holidays as easy as ABC! It doesn’t matter how old my kids or I get; every Christmas Eve I have to read the Night Before Christmas.  I just love the part where Santa calls his reindeer by name. I have two cards to share with you today featuring (yet to be named) reindeer.

Stampin' Up! Tidings All Around and Detailed Deer Christmas wreath card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

These cards showcase the Tidings All Around Bundle which I am featuring this  month in my FREE tutorials. I offer 3 exclusive tutorials each month with a minimum $40 or more online order. Today is the perfect day to place an order as Stampin’ Up! is having a 24-Hour Flash sale with over 50 stamp sets on sale for 15% off! (*See below for more details.) I have been playing with the wreath die all month long and it is so versatile. (I will link to my previous projects below.) First, I want to share some tips with today’s cards.  If you look closely you will notice that both cards are pretty much the same except for the card orientation and different colors.

Here’s the details:

Materials & Measurements

  • Pretty Peacock card base: 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2,   2 pieces 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 to stamp & cut  wreaths, 1/4 strip for envelope
  • Shaded Spruce card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4,  2 pieces 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 to stamp & cut  wreaths, 1/4 strip for envelope
  • Very Vanilla: 2 cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″ for front and inside of card, scrap to stamp sentiment on plaid card
  • DSP:  2 pieces 3/4 x 4, and either 3/4 x 4 3/8 or 3/4 x 5 3/4  for envelope
  • Gold or Copper Foil: 3 1/2 x 4 to cut reindeer
  • Copper Trim or Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon to tie bow
  • Very Vanilla Classic Weave Ribbon to cut Merry Christmas for sentiment on copper card

Stampin' Up! Tidings All Around and Detailed Deer Christmas wreath card idea with Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This card uses the Wrapped in Plaid 6 x 6 Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the classic Christmas plaids with gold foil accents. I stamped the wreath from Tidings All Around on Shaded Spruce cardstock with Shaded Spruce ink and cut it out with the All-Around Wreath Dies.  I also cut the “leafy” wreath in Shaded Spruce too and layered it behind the the stamped wreath.  I cut the reindeer out in Gold Foil to go with the gold foil in the DSP.  The wreath and reindeer are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Tidings All Around and Detailed Deer Christmas wreath card idea with Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The sentiment is from Tidings All Around and stamped in Golden Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink and popped up with dimensionals.  I combined two different sentiments to get Merry Christmas.  I “masked” the part of each sentiment that I didn’t want by inking the sentiment first, then putting a piece of tape over the part I didn’t want to stamp on the paper.  I find this much easier and quicker than masking techniques where you have to stamp then cut out the part you don’t want and cover it up on your cardstock.  Sometimes I even just use a sticky note to cover the part I don’t want or put the sticky note on my paper so the inked part I don’t want is on the sticky note. It really depends on how close the sentiments are to each other which method I use. Other times I may use a Stampin’ Write Marker to just ink the part of the sentiment I want. (*If you try masking with markers make sure your stamp is clean and dry from residue.)

I added matching DSP and a strip of cardstock to the front of the envelope.  I love this added touch and always finish my envelopes to coordinate.

The next card is made the same with just a few changes.

Stampin' Up! Tidings All Around and Detailed Deer Christmas wreath card idea with Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This card is vertical instead of horizontal which gives it a different look don’t you think? Also, I used VersaMark Ink and Copper Embossing Powder to heat emboss the wreath design. The reindeer for this card is cut from Copper Foil to coordinate with the copper in the DSP. Instead of stamping a sentiment I cut the ribbon from the Brightly Gleaming Suite and used that as the sentiment. (*Tip: TO keep it from fraying I used Tear& Tape on the back and didn’t remove the backing.  I just added dimensionals on top of the Tear & Tape.) I love the added texture from the copper embossing powder and classic woven ribbon.

Stampin' Up! Tidings All Around and Detailed Deer Christmas wreath card idea with Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

TO decorate the coordinating envelope for this card I put the DSP strip across the bottom of the envelope on the front. There are so many ways to dress up an envelope!

So which reindeer card do you prefer, Plaid with Gold Foil or Brightly Gleaming with Copper Foil? Do you usually make horizontal or vertical cards? I love hearing from you so I hope you will leave a comment below and let me know which one you like!

Have I convinced you that you need the All-Around Wreath Dies? They are so versatile and coordinate with the Tidings All Around stamp set and the Seasonal Wreaths stamp set.  Here’s some other projects I’ve shared previously using these products. Q is for Quick Gift Ideas

Welcome to my ABC Holiday 2019 Series! Throughout this series I have been sharing all kinds of cards, gifts, and ideas to help make your holidays as easy as ABC! Today is all about Quick & easy gift giving!

Stampin’ Up! offers several products to make gift giving Quick & easy. If you are anything like me there are times when you need a last minute gift.  I keep some of my favorite quick & easy gift making products on hand so I am always ready.  Two of my favorite products for quick holiday gifts are the copper tins and the mini gold pizza boxes (these come in white also).

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Copper Tin and Perfectly Plaid Pizza Box Gift Ideas for Christmas - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

Both of these products are food safe which make them great for homemade goodies. You can also fit 3 x 3 note cards inside which can be used for gift enclosures or tags. What a great holiday helper gift idea for a busy coworker, friend, or hairdresser!

The Wrapped in Plaid 6 x 6 Specialty Designer Series Paper has gold foil accents on classic Christmas plaid designs which look great with the gold box. I punched the tree from a 3 1/4″ square of Shaded Spruce cardstock using the Pine Tree Punch. I adhered it to to a piece of 3 x 3 DSP and then to top of the box. I stamped the tree image from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink and adhered it to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Shaded Spruce ribbon with gold stripe is the perfect accent. It’s quick & easy to just wrap around the box and tie a bow.

My husband makes delicious fudge every year for the holidays and the mini pizza boxes are great for gifting individual sweet treats.  I plan to give this to my daughter’s former violin teacher.  She loves my husband’s fudge and we bring her some every year. Her husband passed away a few years ago and she enjoys it when Ariane visits her when she’s home for the holidays.  This gift box coordinates with the card I shared the other day which makes a nice gift presentation. (*You can click HERE for the directions to make the card if you missed that post.)

My second quick & easy gift uses the Copper Tins. I used these copper tins last year to hold my homemade cinnamon candy I make for my family and friends. The tins were a big hit last year so I thought I would update the look with the gorgeous Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper. This DSP has copper accents which coordinate well with the tins.

I cut the DSP at 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 and adhered it to a 3 x 3 piece of copper foil and attached it to the tin. I punched the ornaments using the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack and adhered them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Delicata Celestial Copper Ink. If you would like to see the copper tins (and some other gift ideas) I made last year click HERE.

E is for Everything Festive

Welcome to my ABC Holiday 2019 Series! Throughout this series I will be sharing all kinds of cards, gifts, and ideas to help make your holidays as easy as ABC! The Everything Festive Stamp Set will make sure you’re not at a loss for words. Celebrate Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day all with one stamp set!
Stampin' Up! Everything Festive stamp set - for inspiration and ordering information visit juststampin.com - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

You can use the Timeless Label Punch, Stitched Nested Dies, or the different Layering Shapes Dies to highlight the sentiments on your projects.  I created four cards to share with you using the Everything Festive Stamp Set and Scalloped Note Cards & Envelopes.

Stampin' Up! Everything Festive Holiday card ideas using Scalloped Note Cards & envelopes - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used several common elements on each of these cards. The sentiments are from the Everything Festive stamp set, heat embossed and cut with the Layering Ovals Dies. I wanted to use the layered scallop around the sentiment to tie it in with the scalloped note cards & envelopes. Each card has a 1 1/2″ strip of Designer Series Paper layered with Foil or Glimmer Paper. The inside of the card has a 1/2″ strip of the DSP with a 1/4″ strip of the same foil or glimmer paper. I had so much fun decorating the envelopes too! Here’s a picture of each card and coordinating envelope.

Stampin' Up! Everything Festive and Feels Like Frost Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This card uses the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper, and Silver Embossing Powder. I heat embossed the envelope with snowflakes from the Seasonal Wreaths Stamp Set.

I couldn’t resist making another card with this gorgeous DSP from Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s layered with copper foil. The sentiment is heat embossed with copper embossing powder. Here’s a peek at how I layered the bottom of the card on the inside.

The repeated layers ties it all together and the envelope gives a sneak peek at what’s inside.

Stampin' Up! Everything Festive Halloween card idea using Scalloped Note Cards & envelopes and Monster Bash Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

This is my favorite one! I just love the little spider on the envelope! My friend, Rosanne Mulhern (heartfeltstamping.com), was visiting for the weekend and she suggested adding the spider. We always have so much fun stamping together and bouncing ideas off each other. The DSP is from Monster Bash and the sentiment on the inside is from the Wonderfully Wicked Stamp Set. (The spider is from the coordinating Wicked Dies. *These are available as a bundle.)

My last card is intended for Valentine’s Day; however, this sentiment could be used for any time of the year!

Stampin' Up! Everything Festive Valentine card idea using Scalloped Note Card and Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I stamped the sentiment for this one in Real Red Ink then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. The red & white striped DSP is from the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper and layered with Red Glimmer Paper. I added a red glimmer heart on the envelope with a glue dot.  It is punched from the Every Season Punch Pack.  I used the coordinating stamp set, To Every Season,  for the inside sentiment. (The stamp set and set of 4 punches are available as a bundle too!)

I stamped the sentiment off to the side so I could write a personal message.

I just love how the Scalloped Note Cards & Envelopes were the perfect colors for my seasonal holiday cards! The note cards & envelopes come in a set of 20 (5 each of 4 colors: Balmy Blue, Old Olive, Powder Pink, Terracotta Tile). You can see more ideas for these note cards HERE.

Which card is your favorite?
