A Simple Sunday Project…Let’s Color!

I can’t believe after just 4 days back to school and I was down for the count!  It’s no fun being sick!  If this was a test for my husband and his vows “through sickness and health”, he passed with flying colors!  He took such good care of me and even brought me flowers.  I must have been pretty pitiful the past couple of days! I am happy to be feeling better and couldn’t wait to get back stamping! Have you noticed how coloring books are the big trend now?  Research has shown there are many benefits to coloring so I decided to make some fun covers for those composition books that seem to be on every kids back to school supply list.  Wouldn’t it be more interesting if the covers looked like this? It would be a fun creative project to do with kids and let them stamp and color their notebooks.

I bought these marble bound composition books on sale for .50 each!  I cut a piece of whisper white cardstock 9 3/4 x 6 3/4 and stamped all over with Basic Black ink.

I used the Birthday Blooms and Vintage Leaves stamp sets.  I glued the cardstock to the cover with Tombow Multipurpose Glue then trimmed the corners.  I added ribbon to the flower notebook and the new Warmth & Cheer Designer Washi Tape to the Vintage Leaves notebook.  It’s as quick & simple as that.  Include some colored pencils and it makes a great gift for someone young or old!

I keep a journal for my blog with ideas, sketches, etc. and this works great! I’m sure you can think of a dozen or more uses too!

The other day I shared the mini composition books which I decorated with Designer Series Paper.  If you missed that post you can see it HERE.

I hope you enjoyed my Back to School projects this past week. I am excited about what I’ve planned for the month ahead…The ABC’s of Stampin’!  (What can I say, I’m a teacher!) Whether you are a newbie to stamping or a seasoned stamper, I’m sure there will be something for you.  I learn new things everyday! I hope to inspire you along the way with some fun cards, projects, and tips as well as some exclusive special offers!  Be sure to check back each day!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. This is a great idea for covering these notebooks to follow the current fad of adult coloring books, but they could be geared for children just as easily. Thanks for the great tip. I’m looking forward to your ABC’s of stamping to see what new things I can learn. Glad you are feeling better.
