From the Heart

Stampin Up Petal Palette washi tape card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love Stampin’ Up! The products are top notch, the color coordination and tools make it easy to create beautiful projects, and the company’s “Statement of the Heart” sums it up beautifully!

Stampin’ Up! Statement of the Heart:
“To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments…in this we make a difference.”
I was inspired to make this card for team members to let them know how much I enjoy being on this journey with them. I used the Petal Palette stamp set and some washi tape to create this clean and simple card.
Stampin Up Petal Palette washi tape card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
This is one of those simple “formula cards” that I have used before.  Simply change out the washi tape and use whatever focal point you want.  Here I used a die cut heart from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits but I also made the birthday card (pictured below) which I shared previously. It has a bow made with the Bow Builder Punch.  *You can click on the image below to see the original post with all the details and tips to make the washi tape card and other projects.

F is for Family

Welcome to my ABC Holiday Series! Holidays are all about celebrating different occasions with family and friends! Many people send family photo cards for the holidays. I like to take a photo and add a personal touch to make my own holiday cards for family and friends. I send a lot of cards so I need it to be simple and this gate fold card with a belly band is just that…quick & easy!

Stampin Up Snowflake Sentiments Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love to make fun fold cards and the gate fold is one of the easiest! The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 2 1/8 on each end. I used Whisper White as my card base and added (2) 2 x 5 1/2 strips of Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I wanted to get the most cuts from my 12 x 12 DSP so I added some silver washi tape from the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape down the sides. You could use silver foil or just leave it white.  I like the added sparkle to tie in with the DSP and other silver elements.

The belly band is my favorite part! I cut a 3 x 10 Night of Navy cardstock and wrapped it around my card (creasing it as I went) and secured the ends with Fast Fuse on the back. I stamped my sentiment from the Snowflake Sentiments Stamp Set on Whisper White using Night of Navy ink. (I love this sentiment for a photo card!)  I cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and layered it on a silver foil circle I cut using the Layering Circles Framelits. I use my shape framelits all the time!  (These are on my list of favorite things!) I wrapped some Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon (LOVE THIS!) around my belly band and tied a bow. The ribbon makes the card in my opinion! I added a glue dot under the ribbon to keep it secure.

Stampin Up Snowflake Sentiments Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

It is easy to just slide the belly band off to open the card.

Stampin Up Snowflake Sentiments Christmas card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I like that the gate fold card allows you to display the card so you can see the photo on the inside.  You can stamp a sentiment on the side or add a handwritten note.

With my children in two different states it gets harder and harder to get everyone together.  (The photo was taken during our summer vacation.)  I am looking forward to the holidays this year! We will be traveling to Massachusetts to celebrate with all 25 family members.  YEA!!!

Here are a few more Christmas photo card ideas from previous years.

I made a fold over flap for this photo collage I had printed at CVS. (Talk about quick & easy!!) Click on the image to see the original post with directions.

I used My Paper Pumpkin kit (and refill kits) to make this photo card a few years ago.

A Sneak Peek at Year of Cheer

Joy card made using products from the Stampin Up Year of Cheer Suite. For inspiration and more visit

The Year of Cheer Suite has gorgeous Specialty Designer Series Paper, foil snowflakes, washi tape, embellishments, and more to spread cheer throughout the year. Check out this video for a sneak peek at the products and sample projects you can make!

The stamp set in this suite, Cheers to the Year, is so versatile! You can use it for wintry projects as well as wedding. The round designs coordinate with the Layering Circles Framelits Dies and can add a special touch to a card for any occasion.

I cut one of the foil snowflakes to place behind the banner on my card.  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver and added a silver embellishment with some baker’s twine. The foil designs in the Year of Cheer Specialty Series Designer Series Paper take center stage. I added a strip of washi tape on each end. This simple card is featured on page 36 in the Holiday Catalog along with other great projects ideas.

Yesterday was our last day in Atlanta. We spent the day enjoying the beautiful Botanical Gardens. It’s hard to leave but knowing my daughter is so happy here makes it a little easier.  I wish her a “Year of Cheer” with much Joy in her life! She certainly brings joy to ours!!! Here’s a few photos from our time in Atlanta.

All moved in to a new dorm for another year!
Beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline from the new dining hall.
Roommates reunited!
Having fun at the Botanical Gardens.

We put our time in the hotel to good use! It was a family affair assembling the swatch books!

My husband and I are headed to South Carolina today for the big solar eclipse viewing.

Have a great day!

More Birthday Fun!

I absolutely LOVED reading the comments the other day with stories of your birthday memories. Thank you so much for sharing!!!  It just reaffirms my feelings on “gifts”…it’s not what you get, it’s who you spend your time with! My husband and I like to give our children a “birthday experience” each year.  Fads come and go but memories last a lifetime! And when you give an experience, everyone enjoys the gift! Many family vacations have been someone’s “gift”.

Speaking of gifts…Sharing handmade kindness is a gift from the heart! When someone takes the time to write a note inside a card and/or make a card, it is a “gift” in and of itself! I treasure the handwritten notes and cards from my kids over the years as well as those I’ve received from friends and family. I bet you do too!

The other day I shared some of the beautiful birthday cards I received.  You can see that post HERE.  Yesterday my blog was “hacked” by my daughter.  If you missed her post and the card she made for me, click HERE. Today I have a few more cards to share with you from some of my very talented stamping friends…

Nancy heat embossed this card and even punched the envelope flap. I love the extra protective piece she added to protect the card.  How clever!

Chris R.’s card is striking in black and pink with washi tape!

Chris did something I have never done before and I love it!  She stamped the inside on DSP.  I love her envelope too!

Ramsey added sparkle inside and out!

Ramsey knows I love adventures! It just so happens I am going on one today with my friend and upline, Susan Itell. We are taking a road trip and will be joining our friend, Roseanne, for an afternoon crafting adventure somewhere in Delaware.

It’s time to announce the winner of the birthday blog candy…Linda Schilling!

random birthday winner

How funny that she was # 13…here’s her comment:

  • Sounds like you did have a happy birthday I “held my breath” all day when I turned 13 on Friday the thirteenth – but nothing bad happened. Best birthdays are shared with family doing nothing really special except being together. Having grandkids makes it even sweeter

Linda, it looks like #13 is pretty lucky! Please email me ( your address and I will send my birthday party favors to you.

Have a wonderful day!

W is for Washi Tape

Welcome to my ABC’s of Stampin’ series.  Today we’re going to have some fun with Washi Tape. There are so many different ways you can use washi tape.  I will cover just a few different ideas today. Yesterday I posted this light up card made with vellum and a battery operated votive candle.  You can see that post here. I covered the candle for the card in matching washi tape from the Affectionately Yours Designer Washi Tape. It has copper in it just like the Designer Series Paper I used.

If you follow my blog, you know how I like everything to match. I think it makes a nice presentation especially when giving as a gift.  Here is a matching gift tag and birthday card made with the Floral Boutique Designer Washi Tape.  There are so many possiblities!  I even made 2 different gift tags to choose from. The sentiment is from Birthday Banners and the banner on the tag is cut from the Bunch of Banners Framelits Dies.

Stampin Up birthday card and tag idea using washi tape - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love this washi tape card.  I CASed the card design from Pinterest ( and made it in the classic navy and white.  I use a cutting mat with grids to help keep the washi tape straight when sticking it on the cardstock.  It is easy to lift off and just fold the ends back for a nice clean edge.

Stampin Up Bow Builder Punch Birthday card idea using washi tape - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The washi tape makes quick and easy birthday candles.  I used the Festive Flower Builder Punch to make the flames and the Bow Builder Punch to make the bow.

You can also make quick & easy tags with dies.  Here I placed washi tape from Candy Cane Lane Designer Washi Tape on to my cardstock then cut it out with an ornament from the Delicate Ornament Thinlits. I added some Candy Cane Lane Baker’s Twine and it’s ready for you to write on the back or just stamp to: and from: using the Candy Cane Christmas Stamp Set.

This next project is a great one to do with kids to make thank you notes for Christmas.  I used the Warmth & Cheer Designer Washi Tape for this project.  The sentiment is from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set. You can even use washi tape on the envelopes!

This next card was sent to me from my upline, Susan Itell.  She used Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape on this card.

As you can see there are lots of ways to use washi tape and lots of choices too!  Click Here to see all the different Designer Washi Tape. I store my washi tape in a clear container intended for eye glasses that I purchased from Amazon.  I like that I can see exactly what I have so I’ll remember to use it.

Sometimes I cut my envelopes down if I make a square card.  Washi tape works great to seal the sides. Here’s a card I shared previously where I showed how I did that.  You can click on the photo to see the post with all the details.

Yesterday I shared that I was having visitors for lunch and some stamping fun. Here’s a picture of me with Ramsey and Susan…The Three Stampateers!  LOL

The “Three Stampateers”

Here’s my Back to School Special for today…With the purchase of $25 or more from my online store I will send you a roll of washi tape so you can have some fun and start creating. Be sure to enter the Hostess Code 7CNZAUYM when you check out. (I’ve included a visual below.)

A Simple Sunday Project…Let’s Color!

I can’t believe after just 4 days back to school and I was down for the count!  It’s no fun being sick!  If this was a test for my husband and his vows “through sickness and health”, he passed with flying colors!  He took such good care of me and even brought me flowers.  I must have been pretty pitiful the past couple of days! I am happy to be feeling better and couldn’t wait to get back stamping! Have you noticed how coloring books are the big trend now?  Research has shown there are many benefits to coloring so I decided to make some fun covers for those composition books that seem to be on every kids back to school supply list.  Wouldn’t it be more interesting if the covers looked like this? It would be a fun creative project to do with kids and let them stamp and color their notebooks.

Stampin Up Birthday Blooms and Vintage Leaves stamped notebooks - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Stamped Notebook Covers

I bought these marble bound composition books on sale for .50 each!  I cut a piece of whisper white cardstock 9 3/4 x 6 3/4 and stamped all over with Basic Black ink.

I used the Birthday Blooms and Vintage Leaves stamp sets.  I glued the cardstock to the cover with Tombow Multipurpose Glue then trimmed the corners.  I added ribbon to the flower notebook and the new Warmth & Cheer Designer Washi Tape to the Vintage Leaves notebook.  It’s as quick & simple as that.  Include some colored pencils and it makes a great gift for someone young or old!

I keep a journal for my blog with ideas, sketches, etc. and this works great! I’m sure you can think of a dozen or more uses too!

The other day I shared the mini composition books which I decorated with Designer Series Paper.  If you missed that post you can see it HERE.

I hope you enjoyed my Back to School projects this past week. I am excited about what I’ve planned for the month ahead…The ABC’s of Stampin’!  (What can I say, I’m a teacher!) Whether you are a newbie to stamping or a seasoned stamper, I’m sure there will be something for you.  I learn new things everyday! I hope to inspire you along the way with some fun cards, projects, and tips as well as some exclusive special offers!  Be sure to check back each day!

Have a wonderful day!

Thursday Treat…Jar of Love

Can you guess who I made this for? If you guessed my daughter, you would be right!  I had this packed away in my suitcase waiting to give it to her today. This is the day she has been preparing for…she moves in to her dorm and is an official college student!  I filled this jar with hugs and kisses to leave with her as we head back to our hotel. She already knows how much we love her but, it’s always nice to have a “sweet” reminder.  And let’s face it…this stamp set and matching framelits are just so stinkin’ cute I couldn’t wait to try them out.  LOL  I think it makes a cute tag for a jar!

I used momento black, smokey slate, and night of navy inks to stamp the jar, handles, and lid on whisper white cardstock.  I stamped the hearts in melon mambo ink then stamped the sentiment on top in night of navy.  I cut all 3 pieces out with the matching framelits using the Big Shot. I glued the pieces together and attached it to the jar with night of navy solid bakers twine.  It was easy to decorate the lid on the jar.  I used the Layering Circles Framelits to cut the perfect size circle out of some Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I attached it to the lid with glue dots then wrapped the rim with the Floral Boutique Designer Washi Tape.  Think of all the fun gifts you can put in a jar for fun holiday gifts!  My mind is spinning!  There are 3 different size jars in the stamp set with lots of extras to decorate.  I used the middle sized jar for my tag today.

My daughter isn’t the only one getting a special treat because I am giving away some “blog candy” to a lucky winner! Just leave me a comment with the total number of candy you think are in the jar.  You have until 9 PM (EST) on Sunday evening to leave a comment. (Limit 1 guess per person.) The person who comes closest will receive a special stampin’ treat from me… I will send you some handmade cards and matching envelopes. I will post the winner after I get back home on Monday.

Have a wonderful day!
