A Sneak Peek at Painted Harvest for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #11

When my son was little we planted sunflowers. All summer long he watched them grow and got so excited the taller they grew. He couldn’t wait to get dressed, run outside, and stand beside the sunflowers to see how tall they were in comparison to himself. He would report daily and tell me it was as tall as his “boo boo”, up to his knees… on up until they were over his head.

I noticed these sunflowers in my neighborhood the other day and they made me smile as I was reminded of that summer garden.

I was inspired to create today’s card using the new Painted Harvest Stamp Set which will be available in the new Holiday Catalog starting Sept. 1. It will be available as a bundle with the new leaf punch (Love it!!!). This is my favorite bundle in the new catty! It could have something to do with the wonderful memories it evokes or just the beautiful images you get with the two-step stamping.

I used elements from this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board to create this card. I choose 3 in a row across the middle: flower, thank you, angled. It also works diagonally: yellow, thank you, leaf. Here’s this week’s challenge board.

My card base is Garden Green embossed with the Layered Leaves Textured Impression Embossing Folder. I added a 1 1/2 x 5 strip of DSP from the new Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and some Jute Twine (Avail. Sept. 1).

I love all the texture on this card! I used So Saffron and Crushed Curry ink for the two-step stamping on my sunflower. I added Early Espresso ink to the center and while it was still wet I took my blender pen and just pulled out some color from the center to highlight the petals. I popped up the stamped layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I am going to put this card in the mail to my son. He is so happy in his new job and I'm so thankful I got to spend time with him this summer. I think he will get a kick out of this old photo.

I stamped the flower again on the inside where I will write a personal note.

It’s Thursday so that means it’s time to play Tic Tac Toe! I am so excited to be the designer for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge. Of course my Tic Tac Toe Challenge is an abc board. I used all 9 elements on my project this week. Can you find them?

I used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die to make a gift card holder. I embossed the bag using the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The DSP is from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. Happy Birthday is heat embossed using Dapper Denim Ink , VersaMark, and Clear Embossing Powder. (I love this shade of blue.) I colored the flowers using my blender pen and In Color Inks in Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist. I added a Perfect White Accent to my ribbon.

The mini treat bag is so easy to make using the dies. Check out this short video to see how to put it together as well as some of the different projects you can make using these dies.

I love the versatility of these dies! Know what else I LOVE…the new 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Layered Leaves!!! You can create deep, dimensional embossed impressions so quick & easy. It is a little different process to emboss because it is a thick folder. You need to spritz the paper first with water to get a deep impression. Here’s a quick (3 min.) video explaining how it works and how to make your embossing “sandwich”.

I love the final results and can see using this embossing folder again and again. It really adds a quick & easy WOW to any project!

I hope you will play along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge. It is really easy and fun to do! I had never done a challenge before the TTTC and couldn’t believe how easy it is to create by simply choosing the elements from the challenge board. I knew I wanted to use the In Colors so I pulled the In Color DSP and Dapper Denim (for blue) and decided that I liked Lemon Lime Twist with the blue. I decided to include “gift” from the board and I immediately thought of a gift card holder. All I had to do was choose a stamp set and cardstock and let the items dictate what I create. It is a fun way to make something different. I am amazed at how quick & easy it is to come up with an idea when you have the items right in front of you. I did not start out intending to use all 9 elements but it just came together once I started to create using the different elements in front of me. Give it a try! I am so excited and quite humbled to be part of the design team for this new challenge that starts today! It is really simple and fun to do and I hope you’ll play along! Here’s the challenge board for this week that was created by the very talented Peggy Noe.

Pick 3 boxes in a row across, down, or diagonal and create using those elements. I chose the row across the middle for this simple gate fold card.

The star of this card is the beautiful new Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! I love the contrast of colors with the black background. I cut a 1 1/4 x 11 piece of vellum for the belly band. I wanted to add a bit of texture so I embossed it with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder. The Lovely Words Thinlits Dies has 3 dies to choose from for a variety of cards or projects.

The inside sentiment makes a bold statement from the Big on Birthdays Stamp Set.

This card is simple and quick! I started with a piece of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 cardstock and scored it at 2 1/8 from each side. The DSP strips measure 2 x 5 3/8. The inside panel is 4 x 5 1/4 and the vellum belly band measures 1 1/4 x 11. I love fun fold cards and the gatefold is one of my favorites.
