A Little Something to Brighten Your Day

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Box of Sunshine stamp set with Daisy punch and Flowers for Every Season lip balm holder - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I can’t seem to stop playing with the Paper Pumpkin Box of Sunshine kit! I have made a bunch of sunshine boxes and one of the things I put in them was lip balm! I made fun holders for the tic tacs and hand sanitizers I put in the boxes (you can view those HERE) and decided to make something for the lip balm too! Here’s the one I made using the contents of the kit with some Poppy Parade cardstock and gingham ribbon.

I cut up one of the card fronts for the sentiment piece on the inside. I was able to make four of these from one card front. One of the things I love about my Paper Pumpkin kits is once I’ve used all the contents I still have the stamp set (and ink spot) to use again and again. I love the sentiments and the sun image that was included in the June kit! I attempted to make the sun like the die cuts in the kit so I sponged crushed curry and poppy parade ink on whisper white card stock with my sponge daubers.  Then I heat embossed the sun using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder and fussy cut it out. *Here’s cool tip for fussy cutting the sun… Cut or punch a circle around the sun then use your scissors to snip around the rays. Quick & easy!

I love the collection of stamps from my Paper Pumpkin kits. I keep a 3 ring binder as a reference showing the stamps included in each kit.  It’s easy to flip through when I’m looking for a sentiment or image. It makes it quick to find exactly what I need.

Normally I would punch or use a die to cut the sentiment out but I decided to go with fussy cutting around the words and I really like how it turned out! I think it adds a little more interest and highlights this wonderful sentiment.  I hope it makes the recipient want to open it up to see what’s inside!

I had so much fun making these for my friends & family that I ordered a bunch more lip balm from Amazon to make these for the residents at our local nursing home. I wanted to do something special for them during this pandemic. I was concerned about giving them candy, etc. due to different allergies and knew that lip balm is something they can all use. I made different colors to coordinate with the lip balm. (It’s all about the presentation! LOL) Here’s a look at each of the different patterns I used from the Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper.

Here’s the details…*You can make 3 from each sheet of cardstock and 4 from each 6 x 6 piece of DSP!

Measurements

  • Cardstock (Bumblebee or Blushing Bride): 3 x 6 scored at 1 mark before 2 3/4 and 1  mark before 3 3/8 (2 11/16 and 3 5/16), scrap to stamp and cut sentiment
  • DSP (Flowers For Every Season): 2 1/2 x 2 3/4
  • Whisper White: 1 3/4 x 2 3/4 (for inside), scrap to punch 2 daisies and sentiment
  • Bumblebee: scrap to punch 1/2″ circle
  • Ribbon : 4″

Directions

  1. Fold the cardstock on one of the score lines then make 2 cuts up to the second score line.
  2. Open and fold the cardstock like a book.  The middle section pops forward like a step on the inside to hold the chapstick.
  3. Adhere the DSP to the front. Close the card and punch through all layers with the Detailed Trio Punch.
  4. Stamp sentiment in coordinating ink, fussy cut and adhere to the front.
  5. Punch 2 daisies using the medium daisy punch. Offset and adhere together. Punch 1/2 circle from Bumblebee cardstock and adhere to the center. Attach daisy to the card with Stampin’ Dimensional.
  6. Stamp sentiment on Whisper White cardstock and adhere inside. Add the chapstick.
  7. Thread ribbon through the hole and tie a simple knot. savingpng-1

A Mini Treat Bag for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #4

Stampin Up Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die gift card holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

img_4096

It’s Thursday so that means it’s time to play Tic Tac Toe!  I am so excited to be the designer for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  Of course my Tic Tac Toe Challenge is an abc board.  I hope you will pick 3 and play along! We have extended the contest until Tuesday at noon (CST) to enter. You do not need a blog to play along. Click HERE for all the details. Here’s this week’s challenge board.

TTTC004

I used all 9 elements on my project this week. Can you find them?

Stampin Up Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die gift card holder idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die to make a gift card holder. I embossed the bag using the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The DSP is from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack. Happy Birthday is heat embossed using Dapper Denim Ink , VersaMark, and Clear Embossing Powder. (I love this shade of blue.) I colored the flowers using my blender pen and In Color Inks in Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist. I added a Perfect White Accent to my ribbon.

The mini treat bag is so easy to make using the dies.  Check out this short video to see how to put it together as well as some of the different projects you can make using these dies.

I love the versatility of these dies! Know what else I LOVE…the new 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Layered Leaves!!! You can create deep, dimensional embossed impressions so quick & easy.  It is a little different process to emboss because it is a thick folder. You need to spritz the paper first with water to get a deep impression.  Here’s a quick (3 min.) video explaining how it works and how to make your embossing “sandwich”.

I love the final results and can see using this embossing folder again and again.  It really adds a quick & easy WOW to any project!

Stamp Set: Label Me Pretty  Ink: Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, VersaMark  Papers: Lemon Lime Twist, Dapper Denim, Shimmery White, Whisper White, Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper  Tools & Accessories: Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies, Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Pretty Label Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Spritzer, Lemon Lime Twist Finely Woven Ribbon, Dapper Denim Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Dapper Denim Baker’s Twine, Perfect White Accent, Tear & Tape, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Hole Punch

I hope you will play along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge. It is really easy and fun to do!  I had never done a challenge before the TTTC and couldn’t believe how easy it is to create by simply choosing the elements from the challenge board. I knew I wanted to use the In Colors so I pulled the In Color DSP and Dapper Denim (for blue) and decided that I liked Lemon Lime Twist with the blue. I decided to include “gift” from the board and I immediately thought of a gift card holder. All I had to do was choose a stamp set and cardstock and let the items dictate what I create.  It is a fun way to make something different.  I am amazed at how quick & easy it is to come up with an idea when you have the items right in front of you. I did not start out intending to use all 9 elements but it just came together once I started to create using the different elements in front of me. Give it a try! Click HERE to see what the design team and others created this week.

You can purchase any of the products I used for this project by visiting my Stampin’ Up! website. To get a FREE thank you gift, simply enter the host code at checkout when shopping online.

How would you like some In Color Ribbon for FREE? You can get samples of either (or both) of the In Color Ribbons for FREE this month with an online order of $50 or more. Plus you will qualify for my free monthly card kit! Click HERE to shop!

G is for Gate Fold Cards

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series.  Today I am showcasing the Gate fold.  I think this is one of the easiest fun fold cards to make. I made a variety of cards for you today using the new 2017-2019 In Colors.

Stampin Up Floral Phrases and Fresh Florals In Color Gate Fold card ideas - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love how this fun fold showcases the designer series paper.  I mixed and matched the patterns in the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack to make a set of cards to give as  a gift. I also wanted to show several different ways to use ribbon on your cards.  I love how the Stampin’ Up! ribbon matches the cardstock and ink colors. I think ribbon adds a nice element of texture to a card.  This new 1/2″ In Color Ribbon is finely woven and very easy to manipulate. I will be offering a ribbon share for the In Color ribbons as well as some of the other ribbon in the new catalog.  You can pick and choose which ribbon shares you want…there are so many choices for ribbon (which thrills me)!!

I have lots of photos for you today so let’s get to the details to make this card. Start with a piece of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 cardstock.  Score at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8 (or just flip and score at 2 1/8 on each side if that is easier.)

img_2260

I cut two 2 x 5 3/8″ strips of DSP for the front of my card and mixed up the patterns.  I stamped the floral image from Floral Phrases Stamp Set 3 times for each color…once on the envelope flap, once on a piece of 5 1/4 x 4 Whisper White (for the inside), and once on a piece of Whisper White to cut out using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  I also cut a scallop layering oval in each color cardstock. I attached the oval pieces together.  I adhered the DSP strips to the card bases then had some fun choosing different sentiments and playing with different ways to add ribbon. *Make sure when you adhere the ovals you only put adhesive on the left side so the card will open from the center.

Here’s a look at each of the cards…

Stampin Up Fresh Florals and Floral Phrases Happy Birthday Gate Fold card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I made a birthday card in Lemon Lime Twist and added a banner in whisper white to showcase the Lemon Lime Ribbon.  I love how these gate fold cards open.

Stampin Up Happy Birthday Gorgeous and Floral Phrases Fresh Florals Gate Fold birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used the Happy Happenings (retiring) and Happy Birthday Gorgeous (available June 1st) stamp sets for my sentiments on this card.

My next card is for a baby in the new Powder Pink. I made a simple bow with the ribbon and attached it with a glue dot.

Stampin Up Fresh Florals Gate Fold baby card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I thought the peek-a-boo sentiment from Suite Sayings (retiring) was perfect for this gate fold design.

I made a sympathy card in Fresh Fig and wrapped the ribbon around the card and tied a bow in the front.  I attached the  oval to the ribbon so you can slide it on and off like a belly band.

Stampin Up Floral Phrases and Teeny Tiny Wishes Gate Fold Sympathy card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The sympathy stamp on the front of my card is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  This is one of those MUST HAVE stamp sets.  There are so many sentiments for every occasion!  It is one of the first stamp sets I purchased and I have used it over and over again.

Stampin Up Floral Phrases and Flourishing Phrases Gate Fold Sympathy card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

The inside sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases…another versatile stamp set with sentiments for several occasions (sympathy, wedding, thank you, congratulations, hello, love, just a note, etc.)

Stampin Up Floral Phrases Fun Fold Sympathy card ideas - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used Berry Burst to make a wedding card.  I think the gate fold design would be great  for wedding invitations as well as cards to congratulate the new couple.  The teeny tiny Mr. & Mrs. stamp is from one of my favorite bundles that is retiring, That’s the Tag.

I like the fun ribbon tie on this one!  I simply wrapped the ribbon around the card and tied it with some Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  I adhered the oval to the ribbon using Fast Fuse so it can slide on and off like a belly band. The inside sentiment is from the Floral Phrases stamp set (which I also used to stamp the flower on each card).

I decided to switch the opening on the Tranquil Tide card for a fun twist.

I attached ribbon under the oval with a glue dot and made a bow tied with Bakers’s Twine for the front.  I love how you can open the card with the ribbon.

I use this thank you sentiment from Floral Phrases all the time!  It works on the front of a card as well as the inside.

Tranquil Tide in my favorite of the new In Colors. (Though Fresh Fig is a close second!) Do you have a favorite new In Color?
