Welcome to my ABC Color Series! Stampin’ Up! offers so many great color choices!  I love to combine different colors and patterns and hope to inspire you with some fun color combinations throughout this series. Today’s projects feature my favorite shade of green, Granny Apple Green. Take a look at how it compares with some other greens.

While I do like and use all of these shades of greens, one of my favorite color combinations is Granny Apple Green with Blueberry Bushel. I created two cards showcasing this color combination.

I rarely make just one card at a time as I like to try different products and techniques. The measurements are the same for both cards; however, I used different color card bases as well as different embossing folders. I also tried different techniques to color the leaves and flowers on these cards. Here are the details:

Measurements:

  • Card Base: 7 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
  • Designer Series Paper: 2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Cardstock layer: 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed
  • Basic White: ~3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ cut with Scalloped Contour Die
  • Basic White: scrap to stamp and punch flowers with Petal Park Builder Punch
  • Inside Cardstock layer: 3″ x 4″
  • Basic White inside: 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • DSP envelope: 2 x 6
  • Cardstock strip for envelope: 1/4 x 6

My first card starts with a Granny Apple Green card base. I used the Flowers 3D embossing folder from the Basic Pack (online exclusive) for the background. I stamped the outline of the leaves in Granny Apple Green then stamped off before stamping the inside. (*I tried stamping without stamping off it was just too dark for the look I wanted.) I stamped the flowers with Blueberry Bushel ink and rather than stamp the inside stamp I chose to color in with the Blender Pen to create the lighter color. It picks up the ink from the outline.

I use my Bone Folder to curl the flowers under then curl the ends up before adhering the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here’s my second card:

This card starts with a Blueberry Bushel card base. The Granny Apple Green layer is embossed with the Elegant Eucalyptus 3D Embossing Folder. The leaves are stamped in Granny Apple Green then colored in with the Granny Apple Green Blends. The flowers are stamped in Blueberry Bushel like the first card only this time I used Wink of Stella to color in. It picks up the ink color and adds. little shimmer which I like. (It’s hard to see in the photos.) I also added sone White Classic Matte Dots in the center of the flowers.

Both of these cards feature the Petal Park Stamp Set, Petal Builder Punch, and Scalloped Contours Dies. The designer Series paper is a sneak peek at one of the new holiday paper packs that will be available starting tomorrow (Sept. 6th), Merry Bold & Bright 12×12 Designer Series Paper. I absolutely love the bright and bold patterns!

There are so many fun color combinations you can choose with this paper pack.  I love the stripe pattern I used on today’s cards. I chose to highlight Granny Apple Green with Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lime Twist.

I love how the DSP you see on the front of the card is actually adhered on the inside. *The inside sentiment is from Good Feelings.

Celebrate with Make a Medallion

img_0709

I can’t believe I waited until the last day of Sale-A-Bration to ink up the Make a Medallion Stamp Set!  I had so much fun layering these stamps with different color combinations.  Because this is a photopolymer stamp set, it is so easy to get perfect placement with each layer.  I used the In Colors cardstock and ribbon with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folder… I love the debossed impression you get.  This card is really quick and easy to put together.  I started with a Whisper White card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 scored at 4 1/4.  I embossed my In Color layer which measures 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered that to the card base.  The stamped layer is a 2 7/8 square which is layered on a 3 x 3 piece of coordinating cardstock and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Here are my color combinations:

img_0713

Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron

img_0712

Dapper Denim and Bermuda Bay

img_0710

Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry

img_0714

Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder

img_0711

Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie

Do you have a favorite color combination?  Check out this video from Stampin’ Up showing some different ways to layer with this stamp set.

As you can see from the video there are so many different ways to combine the stamps in this set! I didn’t even use the sentiments that fit nicely in the medallion! I like the way this stamp set looks with the Lovely Lace embossing folder which I used to decorate my envelopes.

What’s In Your Shoebox?

FullSizeRender 8

I recently attended a “Shoebox Swap” with my friend (and upline), Susan Itell. We had lots of laughs and chatted away as we traveled down the road and joined fellow demonstrators in the Northern Virginia area for a day of Stampin’ Fun!  Each person brought a card they made and put everything they used in a shoebox so others could create it.

This is what was in my shoebox:

Stamp sets: Gift of Love, Tin of Cards   Papers: Sweet Sugarplum, Basic Gray, Whisper White  Ink: Memento Black, Sweet Sugarplum, Pear Pizzaz  Accessories: Organza ribbon, Wink of Stella Brush, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The exclusive Gift of Love stamp set is one of my favorites. Ask me how you can earn it for FREE!  (I like free, what about you?) This flower is a simple two-step process and you get a beautiful watercolor effect.  I added a little sparkle to the flowers using the clear Wink of Stella Brush.

Here’s the details how to make it:

Attach a piece of organza ribbon to a 1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Basic Gray. (See how you can save ribbon?) Attach gray strip 1″ from the bottom of your card base.  Take a second piece of ribbon and tie a knot. Stamp sentiment in Memento Black ink above the gray strip.

Stamp the outline flower with Memento Black Ink.  Be sure to use a Stampin’ Mat to get a nice clean image when using Photopolymer stamps. Stamp the leaves using Pear Pizzaz Ink and the blooms with Sweet Sugarplum.  The photopolymer stamps make it easy to see exactly where to stamp.

FullSizeRender 7

Adhere the stamped image to the basic gray layer and attach to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Brush the blooms with Wink of Stella and you’re done!  Well, almost….Don’t forget the envelope! I think Sweet Sugarplum may be my new favorite color! So pretty!!!
