Flying Seagull Fun Fold Cards with Velvet Meadow

I love this fun fold name and design by Sue Campfield. I made one several years ago for my daughter’s birthday. (*You can view that card and more HERE.) You can see from the photo below how this card got it’s name.

Today’s cards feature the GORGEOUS Velvet Meadow Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the flocking on this paper…it is so soft and adds so much texture!

Here’s a closer look at each of today’s cards.

I used three different patterns for this card. The sentiment and dies are from the NEW Phrases & Frames Bundle.
Be prepared for card making occasions with the Phrases & Frames Bundle. It includes stamp sentiments for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, and encouragement, along with coordinating dies. Stamp a sentiment, then cut it out to create a framed image or label. The dies cut AND emboss, quickly adding texture.

This bundle includes Impressions dies that cut and emboss detailed accents, frames, and focal pieces, giving your projects instant detail and dimension. Use with an Impressions Plate and Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (sold separately).

This card fits in a standard envelope. Simply tuck the sides in and slip into the envelope.

My second card uses my favorite pattern from the DSP. I paired it with the Heirloom Boutique Two-Tone Cardstock for my card base. I really like the lighter shade of Peaceful Pine with this pattern.

As I was putting together my second card I went rogue with Clue #4 & 5. Instead of adhering each side separately,  I found it easier to just use a piece of tape to hold the two pieces for the card base together. Then I just added liquid glue to both sides and adhered my 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 cardstock on top between the score line.

I changed up the DSP pieces too! (*Remember- There’s no right or wrong way to do Mystery Stampin’!)  I cut 3 pieces of DSP (4 x 4 and 2 @ 2 x 4). For the other pieces (2 @ 1 1/2 x 4) I used the Velveteen Specialty Paper. This soft, flocked paper has a velveteen finish that’s just asking to be touched! It’s an easy way to give your crafting projects texture and dimension. I embossed the velveteen using the Paradise Garden Hybrid Embossing Folder.

I stamped my sentiment on a scrap of the DSP and cut it out with another die from the Phrases & Frames Dies. I added a slightly larger oval cut from the velveteen to frame the sentiment. I added some ribbon and butterflies for the finishing touch.

You can stamp a sentiment or add a personal message behind the center panel. I love that Stampin’ Up! brought back the white gel pens! These are perfect for signing cards, journaling, scrapbook pages, or adding fine details. They glide across the paper with crisp, even ink.

For the coordinating envelope I embossed Peaceful Pine Two-Tone Cardstock for the flap.
