My Stampin’ Therapy

Wow!  What a week! I hope you all are staying home and staying healthy! We had to drive to Georgia (2 days each way) to pick up our daughter and move her and all her stuff back home. She would have been graduating in May; however, they have cancelled the graduation and she will have online classes for the remainder of the semester. As we all adjust to the changes in our life one thing we can all do to make a difference is make cards and send cards! Not only is stamping great “therapy” but there are others that need some happy mail now more than ever. A friend of mine works at a nursing home and shared that the residents are anxious and miss having visitors. I have been working on making cards for them. I know it won’t compare to having their loved ones visit but hopefully it will bring a smile to their face knowing that others are thinking of them and care as well! I have been going through my past paper pumpkin kits and using up my extra refill kits, leftover embellishments, etc. These kits make for some quick & easy cards when you need to make many (or a few). I just added some Stampin’ Up note cards & envelopes to create all these cards! . Here’s a look at what I’ve made so far.

For April, Stampin’ Up! created a fun, family appreciation themed card kit that would make it easy for others to share their hearts with those they love most: mom, dad, daughter, son, sister, and brother. April’s kit even includes Mother’s Day and Father’s Day sentiments, giving you the perfect way to show your appreciation for beloved parents on their special days with a beautiful, handmade card. Everyone’s clan is unique. With that in mind, Stampin’ Up! provided sentiments that would include anyone in your life who feels like family; for instance, “brothers” and “sisters” who have helped you along the journey of life. This “fam-tastic” kit will be perfect for reaching out and connecting with those who are most important.

  1. Central College, here in Pella, has most of the students returning home and finishing on line. Some of the students are staying if necessary. There are some students from Africa and I think they are staying here. No commencement will be held at all of the major universities here in Iowa. Hope everyone can stay safe. Mike is working from home too.

For some silly reason I have been saving parts of the same PP kit you showed. That is silly, I need to just make them and get them to the nursing homes. I wasn’t too keen on a few of them but I bet someone would like them. Thanks for the reminder, I need to use them up and that is a good way. Why reinvent the process? Great use of that embossing folder too!

    1. Chris, I am so bad about buying extra refill kits all the time in case I see an idea I just have to make! I decided they needed to be used and sent! It feels good so I’m happy to use them up! I will always have the stamp sets to create in the future!

  2. You have definitely had a week of remember. I’m sure it is very disappointing for graduation to be canceled. My grandson’s is in June in NJ, but who knows if they will have it. She is so lucky you all could go get her on a moment’s notice. That’s a trek I’m sure you won’t miss. Your cards are lovely, Jeanie. I especially love the more masculine designs. We always seem to need those. Stay healthy and get some rest.

    1. Ariane understands the reason and has a good attitude. I think the hardest part was leaving her friends. Thank goodness this generation is so good with technology that they can still socialize and keep in touch. I do love having her home!

  3. I’m trying to do a similar idea for our neighbors in our 55+ condo park…..sending a cheerful “hello” thinking of you….

  4. I have been doing just that all day yesterday and today. I live in Sr. Housing, we are in lock down, and self-isolated. There are 150 apts, so I am making small 3×4 cards w/ HOPE stamped on the front. A short note inside. I hope it encourages people.

  5. What a good idea. I like using up the PP kits and refills to send reminders they are not forgotten.
Glad you made down to GA and back safely but I’m sad she’ll miss graduation. I’m sad for all the high school seniors who will miss that fun too.

    1. Hopefully there will be lots of good that comes out of all this when it’s over! It’s a great reminder that we need to focus on and appreciate all the blessings we do have in our lives! I am happy to have her home!

  6. Each of these designs are wonderful and are sure to cheer up the recipients. What a great way to use past Paper Pumpkin kits! I’m happy Ariane is home safe and sound. Hugs to all of you!

    1. THanks Rosanee! They are fast to do which is the real life saver when you need to make a bunch! I also like the variety!
