Welcome to my ABC Card Series! I’m looking forward to sharing a variety of cards for every occasion from A to Z! Today I want to share some congratulations cards! There are many different reasons to congratulate someone (a new job or job promotion, retirement, anniversary, engagement, new baby, graduation, etc.) Today’s cards feature a simple fun folding pop up gift card card or money holder.
I can honestly say these cards are quick & easy to create! I made this graduation card in less than 30 minutes before I had to head out the door to the graduation party! I enjoy making graduation cards in the school colors which is why this one is gorgeous grape, silver, and black.
Here’s the card details…The card base is 5 1/2 x 11 scored at 4 1/4, 5 1/2, and 6 3/4. Fold accordian style and add a strip of Tear & Tape along the score line as shown below.
Fold the card and adhere. Use the Classic Label Punch to punch halfway in the middle of the fold then on each side. (*Line the punch along the edge of the paper to do each side.)
Add a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White cardstock on the inside to stamp a sentiment or add a handwritten message. Insert cash, check, or gift card in the center slot for a fun pop up when the recipient opens the card.
Wrap the card in ribbon and add your layered sentiment to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Friendly Expressions Stamp Set for both of my cards. I love the font and different sentiments in this stamp set. It is on the retirement list which means tomorrow is the last day to order it before it’s gone for good.
The graduation cap is made with a 1 3/4 square of cardstock. Take a 5 inch piece of Bakers Twine, fold in half and make a knot. Fray the ends and adhere to the square with a glue dot. Punch a 1/2″ circle and adhere on top with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
I love the color combination on my next card, daffodil delight and gray granite.
The sentiment is stamped on a piece of 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 Whisper White and layered on a piece of 3 x 4 Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper. I stamped and punched 2 daisies on Daffodil delight and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The gold faceted dots add the finishing touch. For this card I added a restaurant gift card on the inside for the newly retired recipient.
Thanks to Ronda Wade for the pop up gift card idea! I will be making more of these for upcoming graduations in different school colors!
Have a great day!

I love these simple but cute cards with a place for gift card or cash. Great job! Have a great week!
Hi Hilda! I give a lot of gift cards for birthdays and holidays so it’s good to have a quick & easy one to make! Have a great week!
Super cute….again!!! You know me….I am always game for new and fun ideas to use gift cards!
I am so happy that you are doing the abc series…..ziti is your trademark!!
Thanks Susan! You are always such an inspiration!
Immediately cased your graduation idea before I headed out this morning–perfect timing for the perfect card! I think I am going to do a bunch of these bases in whisper white from this template to have ready to personalize for REALLY fast gift card emergencies. (Or in other words, to bale myself out when I have procrastinated myself into a corner.)
Lovin’ this latest ABC series. Your designs are always an inspiration and the alphabet reassures me I’ll get my “Jeanie Fix” soon. Thanks for another great project. HAPPY JUNE!!
Linda, I am glad the timing of this card worked out for you! I am the queen of proscrastination! For some reason I seem to work better under pressure! LOL
I like doing the alphabet series as it helps me get ahead of the game with cards I’ll be needing in the near future. Perhaps I won’t be last minute forever! As much as I loved the fun fold series, the Holiday catalog one helped me the most with getting cards, gift cards, and projects done well in advance of the holidays! (I’ll have to keep that in mind to do again!)
Happy June to you too! I love when June comes…it means summer is just around the corner!
I wish there was a pin button on your site. I love your creations!!!!
Wow….that is really a cool card idea! Definitely casing…. thanks Jeanie.
