Happy Birthday Andrew!

I can not believe I am the mother of a 30 year old son! I can still remember the day he was born.  I was not prepared for the overwhelming love I felt the moment I held him. He recently moved to my home state of Massachusetts for his job.  I am so proud of him and happy that he is embracing this new adventure. We traveled to visit him (and my family) for Easter and celebrated his milestone birthday.  Here’s the card I made.

Every year I  give him a package of E.L. Fudge cookies for his birthday. I craved them when I was pregnant. Do you know how many cookies come in a package?  The fact that I know this could account for the 50 pounds I gained during my pregnancy.  I joked that he was going to be born looking like the Keebler Elf.  The colors of this card reminded me of those cookies…chocolate and vanilla.  Yum!

My card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  The Designer Series Paper is from Urban Underground Specialty DSP and measures 2 1/4 x 3 3/4.  I added a layer of Basic Black 1/8″ larger.  The sentiment is from Milestone Moments and stamped in Delightful Dijon and Basic Black on a piece of 2 x 3 3/8 Very Vanilla cardstock.  The Basic Black layer is 2 1/8 x 3 1/2.  I added some linen thread and adhered the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added three White Perfect Accents which I colored with a Black Sharpie marker.

  1. Happy bday Andrew! What a beautiful card and beautiful picture of the both if you. Happy memories, Jeanie.

    1. Thanks Mary Ann! I love to pull out the scrapbooks and reflect on my kids birthdays! The time goes by so quickly! I am blessed with many happy memories (and hopefully many more to come)!

  2. Happy Birthday, Andrew! My daughter was 33 on Easter Sunday . . . as a child, she figured out that her birthday will land on Easter . . . every 11 years. She just makes me laugh. 🙂 I love your card, very neat and masculine. Now, about those cookies . . . I cannot find them anymore, or they just aren’t like they used to be. Weren’t they daisy shaped and chocolate with chocolate? Also dark chocolate graham cracker cookies I can only find in Starbucks for big bucks! How did I get on cookies?
Have a great day! Do you have the week off from school?
    🙂

    1. Hi Nancy! Happy Birthday to your “inquisitive” daughter! About those cookies…I cannot find the original ones anymore. They were elf shaped and plain on one side, chocolate dipped on the other. There were 40 in a package (amazing the things I remember when I can’t remember where I parked my car in the parking lot. LOL). Now I buy him the elf shaped butter cookies with chocolate fudge filling. Still yummy!
I did have the week (and more) off from school. Love vacation this time of year. It’s going to be hard to get back to reality but my daughter comes home in 2 weeks! Hard to believe her first year of college is almost done! She was so right that blogging would make the time go by faster! 🙂 Such smart kids we have!!!

  3. Happy Birthday to Andrew…30 years sure goes by quickly! I think every mother would attest to that. Love the story of the E.L. Fudge cookies. They were always a favorite in our house…the vanilla cookie with fudge filling. I still buy them just for me! Perfect card, too!

  4. Great card and story, oops I am getting crumbs on me as I write this! I could not resist getting in on the celebration.

  5. Well , you did yourself proud with that handsome son you had ! Happy Birthday to your Andrew !
I think we are all alike when it comes to our “peeps” as Susan calls them . I have a daughter that ADORES Jordan Almonds ! A GS that loves Sour Patch Kids ! And I could go on and on….it`s always fun to get those special treats for them .
Great “Guy” card ….really like the color combo !

  6. Wonderful story I craved TacoBell Burrito Supremes no lettuce when I was pregnant with my son almost 30 years ago. I love the card you made.
