I love to make fun fold cards and the gate fold card is one of the easiest to create with just two score lines.

The inspiration for today’s card came from this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board.

I chose to go across the top row: Stencil, Birthday, Die Cut.

I haven’t used my stencils in awhile and I’ve been wanting to create with this hydrangea. I could not believe how simple it was to color this gorgeous flower using the Thankful Garden Decorative Masks! These masks are meant to be layered, meaning you can build beautiful bouquets with lots of varying texture and detail. I used my blending brushes to add layers of color for a quick & easy WOW! With the Thankful Garden Bundle, your paper crafts will always be in bloom! Die cut the large flower stamps to give your card a bright center piece or pair some greenery with smaller die cut flowers to create an eye-catching gift tag. Use the decorative masks to add texture paste for dimension or blend soft colors for extra depth. This bundle is perfect for expressing love and gratitude in a truly artistic way.

I had intended to use strips of DSP on the front of the card; however, I thought it distracted from the beautiful flower. I love how it turned out with the DSP and die cuts on the inside.

Here are the details to create today’s card:

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Stampin’ Up! Thankful Garden Bundle, The Right Words
Ink: Stampin’ Up! Boho Blue, Blueberry Bushel, Garden GreenSoft Sea Foam, Momento Black
Paper: Blueberry Bushel, Boho Blue, Garden Green, & Basic White cardstock, Lovely Garden 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper
Tools & Accessories: Thankful Garden Decorative Masks & Dies, Blending Brushes, Textured Notes Dies, 2023-2025 In Color Flat Pearls, Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder, Garden Green Twine, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

Measurements:
Card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored along the long side @ 2 1/8 from each end
Cardstock (Boho Blue): 2 @ 1 7/8 x 2 1/8 embossed, 3 3/8 x 4 5/8
White Cardstock: 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 to stamp hydrangea, 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 (inside)
Garden Green: scraps to die cut leaves
Designer Series Paper (Lovely Garden): 2 @ 2 x 5 3/8, 2 1/4 x 6 (envelope)

Directions:

  1. Fold and burnish card base folding the ends into the center.
  2. Adhere DSP strips on the inside along the ends.
  3. Die Cut 2 Garden Green leaves with Thankful Garden Die. Adhere on the inside of card in the center section in opposite corners.
  4. Die cut white cardstock with Textured Notes Die. Stamp sentiment. Adhere inside card in the center.
  5. Adhere embossed layer to front of card across the middle.
  6. Stamp hydrangea on basic white with Momento Black ink. Place on grid paper and use a sticky note to hold it in place.
  7. Using Mask #1, line up the mask with the hydrangea and adhere the piece to the grid paper with a sticky note. Take a blending brush and rub it in the Boho Blue ink pad. Rub the brush on the scrap paper (grid paper) first to blend the ink and then, using a circular motion, rub the brush in the mask opening. Use a very light hand so that you just have a light blue color all over the flower.
  8. Remove Mask #1 but keep the stamped flower adhered with the sticky note in the same spot.
  9. Line up Mask #2 so that the mask opening is lined up with the flower. Adhere with a sticky note. Add more Boho Blue ink to the Blending Brush. Using a circular motion, rub the ink in the opening of the mask using just a bit more pressure.
  10. Remove Mask #2. Line up mask #3 and adhere with a sticky note.
  11. Add Blueberry Bushel Ink to the blending brush this time. Use a circular motion as before and add the darker highlights. Remove mask when happy with the results.
  12. Line up Masks #4 and #5 to color the leaves using Soft Sea Foam then Garden Green.
  13. Adhere flower to Boho Blue layer. Adhere to cardbase with Stampin’ Dimensionals. *Only add dimensionals along the left side.
  14. Embellish with dots. Add a twine bow with a Mini Glue Dot.
  15. Adhere DSP to envelope flap and trim to fit.

This “rainbow” of flowers makes me smile! I “fussy cut” some of the flowers from left over DSP pieces and popped them up on dimensionals on each of the panels. I love this added dimension!

I added an extra piece of DSP on this panel to insert a gift card.

The pinwheel tower card folds flat and fits in a regular Stampin’ Up! medium envelope. You can flip through the panels like a “never ending card”. So much fun!

Insert a test tube in the tower, add a little water and fresh flowers, and you have an even bigger “WOW card” to hand deliver! A few years ago one of Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Pumpkin kits had little test tubes with cork toppers for Halloween treats. These little test tubes fit nicely inside the tower or you can find test tubes on Amazon.

This idea would be perfect for a get well, birthday (as shown), or even just a thinking of you card. I got this added flower bouquet idea from my sister. We always make cards when we visit each other. My sister created a tower card filled with fresh flowers and had it waiting in the guest room for me during my last visit. *I will share her amazing card (which inspired me) later this week in my Sunday Showcase. (I will have another added surprise!!!)

The Spooky Sweet 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper includes patterned paper, precut images, and cut-apart scenes and elements. It’s perfect for creating tags and gift packaging for Halloween goodies, accents for scrapbooks, or other spooky-cute paper crafts. I used the cut -apart scenes for each of the panels on my card. I fussy cut the adorable animals in costume and popped them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I like these mini bubble wands for Halloween and I know Nolan (4 years old) will too! It’s a great non sweet treat that will be lots of fun! I fit 4 of these in the center of the tower. (I purchased the bubbles from Amazon.)

Nolan told me he likes “scary things” and is really into spiders lately so I think he will enjoy this Halloween card. I always bring him and his sister a new book when I visit and this card will be a perfect compliment to The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. *A great book for 2-5 year olds!! (As a former teacher I am happy to offer book recommendations for gifts.)

I love the radiant hues in the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper pack! The floral sheets showcase bright blooms and lush leaves, while the coordinating pattern sheets provide a delicate touch of texture and contrast. There is wonderful variety of patterns to add visual interest to your cards, scrapbooks, gift tags, and more. This paper just makes me smile and the double flap fun fold is a great way to highlight the different floral patterns as you unfold this card.

The sentiment from You Are Remarkable is perfect paired with this DSP! I fussy cut the flowers from the DSP and popped them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the Nested Essentials Dies. The Fern Embossing Folder (Last Chance Product) was another great match with the patterns in the DSP.

I left the last “page” blank to add a personal message. I like to change things up for a little of the unexpected inside instead of just the 4 x 5 1/4 basic white. I added the DSP to bring the colors of the card base and DSP together and added a bit of whimsy with the Nested Essentials Die! Just a fun card!

I loved paper dolls as a kid so I don’t mind fussy cutting. If that’s not your “thing” you can easily stamp/die cut flowers using the Impressions Abloom Bundle! It has a great selection of floral stamps & dies that coordinate with the flowers in the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper!

I decided to “go rogue” and try the optional choice to add a little twist for my next card. I used the Stylish Shapes to cut a circle on the front of the card. The sentiment does double duty on the front and inside.

I was absolutely thrilled when Stampin’ Up! kept the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper in the new annual catalog! I was certainly not done playing with this gorgeous DSP!!! (It’s also one of my daughter’s favorites and I enjoy sending her different cards using these gorgeous patterns!)

You can bring the beauty of lavender to all your paper crafts with the Perennial Lavender 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. The hand-painted designs were inspired by fields of wild lavender and the wildflowers that grow right alongside it. I did change up the measurements a bit (the size of the DSP) and after making my cards I decided I prefer the embossed strips at 1″ rather than 7/8″ so I am making that change in the PDF below. Of course you can always change it up like I do to what you prefer! There’s no right or wrong way to do mystery stampin’…use what you have and enjoy creating something special!
