I love May with everything starting to bloom and the possibilities that come with spring. (*Check out the Stamp-n-Storage Spring Sale below!) We moved in to our new home last summer so I missed all the spring blooms. It’s a surprise every day to see what’s popping up in our yard.
My friend Caroline loves to garden. She always has a beautiful flower garden. I made this fun fold tulip card for her birthday.
I was inspired to try this fold from a beautiful Christmas card created by Jan B. She called this unique fold a “floating screen card”.
I love the Tulips Dies! They are a must have for any floral enthusiast. Not only can you create layered tulip fields, but you can also create three types of layered tulip blossoms, perfect for creating your own tulip bouquet! Simply die cut the coordinating dies with contrasting cardstock colors, and then fold the pieces together to make beautiful tulip blossoms. These dies are sized perfectly for the front of a card. You can purchase them on their own or buy the bundle and save 10%.
I cut the tulip dies in poppy parade and calypso coral and sponged the ends with poppy parade. The leaves were cut with Old Olive and sponged with Old Olive. I love the way this adds texture and depth. I built the tulip on a white panel cut with the Tasteful labels dies.
This fun fold is much easier to create than it looks! There’s several layers to this card but it’s just simple cuts. Here’s the measurements:
- Poppy Parade cardstock – 5 3/4 x 11 score at 2, 4, 4 1/2, 6 1/2, 7, 9
- Poppy Parade cardstock – 8 1/4 x 3 3/4 score and fold at 4 1/8
- Pool Party cardstock – 8 pieces @ 5 5/8 x 1 7/8, 2 pieces @ 4 x 3 5/8, 3 5/8 x 1 7/8
- Flowering Fields DSP Design 1 (tulips) – 4 pieces @ 5 1/2 x 1 3/4, 3 7/8 x 3 1/2, 3 1/2 x 1 3/4
- Flowering Fields DSP Design 2 (polka dots) – 4 pieces @ 5 1/2 x 1 3/4
- Basic White – 3 x 4 to cut Tasteful Labels Die, 3 7/8 x 3 1/2 (inside)
- Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Old Olive cardstock- scraps to die cut tulip & leaves
Cut pieces out from the top and bottom of the card base. Line up cardstock @ 4″ then cut from edge to 1 inch. Line up at 7″ and cut to 1 inch. Then cut between the 2 cuts. Do this at the top and bottom.
The rest is simple…Layer all the cardstock and DSP pieces together and adhere to the card base on front and back.
Stamp sentiment inside card. Adhere the center piece so it is “floating” on the panel.
I added some pool party sheer ribbon around the card and tied a bow to keep it closed. This card fits in a 6 x 6 envelope to mail.
