Hold On To Hope for the Pals Blog Hop

Pals BLog Hop Badge APril 2020

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! While the COVID 19 pandemic is adding stress to our lives, we Pals hope this blog hop will help to lift your spirits. Let us inspire you to take a creative break and relax for a little while. This month our theme is “Special Occasions” where we have made a project for just about any occasion you can think of! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I love fun fold cards and I have a new favorite for you today called a pop out fun fold.

Stampin Up Best Dressed Hold On To Hope fun fold Easter card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp - Jeanie

Normally I would be on my way to Massachusetts this week to celebrate Easter with family. I have four sisters and a brother and even though we live in 4 different states we usually manage to get together for special occasions and holidays. I’m usually in charge of ~25 table favors for everyone. Because everyone is “sheltering in place” this year I decided to send my mom and siblings this Easter card.  The sentiments from the Hold On To Hope Stamp set couldn’t be more appropriate this year!

I stamped the hope sentiment then cut it apart for the front of the card.  I also used several of the other stamps on the back of the card. Stampin' Up! Hold On To Hope fun fold Easter card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

There’s even room to add a personal message. This stamp set also has coordinating dies, Cross of Hope, which I used to cut out the layered crosses and flowers on the front. I have used these dies for many different occasion cards (sympathy, wedding, new baby, baptism, Easter).

I have many fond memories of Easter.  My mom would make all our Easter dresses and my Nanna would buy us new white ankle socks and Mary Jane patent leather shoes (which I loved to use to tap dance on the blacktop).  My dad would always buy the girls corsages to wear to church.  We hunted for bags of jellybeans and it wasn’t who found the most bags, it was who had the most jellybeans (there were different amounts in each bag) so no one ate any until you counted them! Here’s a couple of old photos of me with my siblings. (I’m the youngest in the first photo and third in the line up.)

I hope they will enjoy their special Easter cards this year. If you would like to make this fun fold card be sure to check back tomorrow.  I’ll have another version of this fun fold card along with the tutorial. (*Subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out when I post.) You can view the list of products I used below.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 13th, when we will say “Goodbye to January Mini and 2019 Annual Catalog and/or Hello to 2020 Annual Catalog.” The Design Team will showcase their favorites from the retiring catalogs or new products from the new catalog. Don’t miss the fun! And, until then, please stay safe.

Positive Thoughts

With everything that’s going on with the Coronavirus right now we can all use some positive thoughts. That’s exactly what you get in the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set.

I love this stamp set and it couldn’t be more appropriate right now! Use the images and phrases in these stamps to create a bouquet of affirmation for your friends and family. I used the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper with this stamp set to create some bright and cheery cards.

I needed to take a break from watching the news so I decide to unplug and play in my craft room most of the day on Saturday. It was so much fun! The Best Dressed Designer Series Paper has so many gorgeous floral designs. I will be making more cards using all of them! Here’s a quick video showing each of the different patterns.

Here’s a closer look at each of the cards I created.

For my first card I used Blackberry Bliss for the card base and dressed up the edge of the Old Olive strip with a die from Stitched Be Mine Dies. The Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon is so easy to wrap and tie bows! You can also dye it any color you want using Stampin’ Blends!

Purple Posy and Mint Macaron create a beautiful soft color combination. I used the Beautiful Scalloped Linen Ribbon to create the border trim.

My third card uses Old Olive and Daffodil Delight along with the Stitched Be Mine Die and Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon.

The layout of each is the same with just a few subtle differences with ribbon and trim. Here’s the details:

  • Card Base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Whisper White layer: 3 5/8 x 4 7/8
  • DSP Layer: 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 and 1 1/4 x 4 1/4
  • Add ribbon and trim to DSP strip before adhering to card.
  • Stamp sentiment from Positive Thoughts and punch with 1 1/2 Circle Punch.
  • Cut Circle Die in coordinating color to layer sentiment.
  • Punch scrap in same color cardstock as card base using Label Me Pretty Punch
  • Adhere sentiment layer to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add pearls on eaither side of greeting.
  • Stamp sentiment, fern, and butterfly on Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4 for inside of card.
  • Stamp the front of the envelope to coordinate.

Best Dressed Sweet Friend Swap Card

Stampin' Up! Best Dress Honey Bee thinking of you card idea for a friend - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I made this card for a swap I’m participating in. I love this sentiment from the Honey Bee Stamp Set.  I can’t seem to stop playing with this set!  It is so versatile! Check it out!

This my featured stamp of the month. (*See details below.) I have been making a variety of cards and gifts with it! Click HERE to see one of my new favorite fun fold cards.

This is one of my “go to” layouts for a quick & easy card! I chose the beautiful floral DSP from the Best Dressed 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper pack then chose my coordinating colors of Lovely Lipstick and Petal Pink.  Here’s the measurements:

  • Card Base: Petal Pink 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Layer 1: Lovely Lipstick 3 3/8 x 3 5/8
  • DSP Layer: 3 1/4 x 3 1/2

I stamped the sentiment in Lovely Lipstick on Whisper White and cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Dies.  It is layered on Lovely Lipstick cut with a Scalloped Oval Die and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The butterfly is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set and stamped with Lovely Lipstick on Whisper White and colored with Clear Wink of Stella.  It is punched out using the Butterfly Duet Punch. I also used the leaf punch and punched 2 from Old Olive Perennial Essence Vellum cardstock. Such a pretty combination of colors! Punches make it quick & easy!

I added some layers on the inside with the coordinating cardstock, DSP, and the matching mini butterfly.  I left it blank for a personal message but this sentiment works for many occasions (happy birthday, get well, congratulations, etc.)

Clean & Simple! Quick & Easy! Winning combinations in my book!
