P is for Peace on Earth with Pretty Pines and Paper Pumpkin

Welcome to my Holiday ABC series.  Today I am “shaking it up” for P! I used my Paper Pumpkin Pining for Plaid kit  (October 2017) with the Pretty Pines Thinlits and Carols of Christmas Bundle to make this “Peaceful” Christmas card . If you missed out on last month’s kit, don’t worry as you can still create this fun shaker card with products in the Stampin’ Up catalog. I like to make and share alternative ideas with my Paper Pumpkin subscribers and this card is just one example of how you can change it up a bit to make it your own.

My card base is from Paper Pumpkin; however, you can cut a piece of the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper for the front of your card. I love the Carols of Christmas Stamp Set and have used it a lot to create cards and boxes for the holidays. The Peace on Earth sentiment fit perfectly in the precut card front in the Paper Pumpkin kit.  I love how my Paper Pumpkin saves me time! You always have the choice of turning over the prestamped image and stamping your own sentiment on the back or cut a piece of 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 Whisper White to stamp an image or sentiment and another piece 4 x 5 1/4 to cut the circle using the Layering Circles Framelits. The window sheets, dimensionals, and sequins were included in the kit but you can order any of these items from my Stampin Up store. To assemble you attach the window sheet with glue dots to the back of the circle cut out.  Then add the dimensionals around the circle and fill with some sequins.  Remove the backing from the dimensionals and adhere the sentiment so it faces the front.

Then just add dimensionals to the top and bottom and adhere to the card base.

I added the pine branches from the Pretty Pines Thinlits and the trees and deer from the Card Front Builder Dies.  You can purchase the Card Front Builder Dies with the Carols of Christmas stamp set and save 10% on the bundle!

I love the matching envelopes in the Paper Pumpkin kit.  You can always cut the Merry Little Christmas DSP and add to the flap on the back of your envelope to tie it all together if you don’t have the kit.

I am so excited that the November Paper Pumpkin kit is designed to coordinate with the cards in October’s kit.  We’ve been told it is a “gifting project”.  I love having cards and gifts to match; however, you don’t have to have the card kit to make the projects in the November kit.  They can stand alone or be used together. If you want to get that handmade holiday touch without the fuss sign up by Friday, November 10th to get the November Paper Pumpkin kit.  Click HERE to sign up.

Stepping It Up with So Many Shells

Shaker card with Stampin' Up! So Many Shells stamp set. For project ideas, directions, and supplies visit www.juststampin.com

Yesterday I shared a simple card I made that was inspired by a picture I saw in a shop by the beach.  If you missed that post you can see it HERE.  I stepped it up for today’s card.

My stepped up card is a shaker card. I added some sand and tiny shells I got from Newport when I went sailing with my son. I enjoy shaker cards and they are really fun and easy to make.  The cardstock, measurements, etc. for this card are the same as yesterday’s simple card.  I attached a 2 1/2″ square window sheet with glue dots to cover the square. Then I added 2 layers of Foam Adhesive Strips around the square (to allow for enough space for the shells to move around).

I added a few pearls and this stepped up version is just as simple to make as the original! Which one do you prefer?

I enjoyed reading the comments yesterday about what you think I collect when I go on vacation. I gave you a hint when I told you I’m in my happy place when my toes are in the sand. You can see some of my collection below.

My sand collection from my travels. Visit www.juststampin.com for inspiration and Stampin' Up! supplies.

I told you I love the beach! I bring the beach home with me everywhere I go! (Oh the stories I could tell about some of this sand! FYI…trying to go through customs with sand in a plastic bag is not always easy!  LOL) I love the different colors and textures. It’s amazing how different the sand is from beach to beach. I have sand from as far north as Prince Edward Island and as far south as Cancun, Mexico. I also have sand from as far west as Hawaii and as far east as Normandy, France. I spend a lot of time on the east coast and have collected sand from Maine to Florida. My favorite is the pink sand from Bermuda! This is such a fun collection and brings a smile to my face.  It’s inexpensive and easy to document my travels with some Avery labels on jars.

I am still away so I had to text my daughter to get her to take the picture of my sand collection. My husband took a picture of her standing on the bathroom counter to get the photo. The things she does for me!  LOL

Congratulations to Pam Traffis for guessing correctly! Pam, email me (j.stark@myactv.net) your address and I will put a goodie in the mail to you next week when I get home. Many thanks to all who left a comment.  I enjoyed reading about your collections. I love to take lots of photos too while on vacation and I look forward to sharing some stories and pictures from my travels.

Happy Birthday Claire!

Claire’s 10th birthday was sprinkled with fun!  I made her this shaker card using her favorite colors.

img_3037

Stamp Sets: Number of Years, Milestone Moments, Cool Treats (inside sentiment)  Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Perfect Plum  Papers: Whisper White, Tempting Turquiose  Tools & Embellishments: Large Numbers Framelits, Confetti Embossing Folder (retired), Sprinkles Punch (retired), Layering Ovals Framelits, Sponge Daubers, Sequins, Foam Adhesive Strips

The sentiment from the Cool Treats Stamp Set was perfect for her party theme!  I think she really liked it!

Claire loves her Paper Pumpkin kits so much she asked me to do a Paper Pumpkin birthday party for her friends. What fun! The May kit, Sprinkled with Love, was the perfect theme for a Donut Shoppe birthday party!

img_3015-2

Claire and each of her friends had so much fun making the 3 different cards included in the kit. They did a great job!

img_3040

The teacher in me gave them summer journals/back to school notebooks and they had so much fun coloring them. I found cute packs of colored pencils at the craft store.  I used the new Crafting Forever stamp set to stamp this fun sentiment on an Avery Label and punched it out using the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch. Just peel and stick for quick & easy party favors! I also made each of them monogrammed kits for their embellishments using the Large Letters Framelits.

They loved their notebooks and couldn’t wait to start coloring them.  It was cute to listen to what subject they were planning to use it for next school year. (I had Claire and some her friends in my Pre-K class when they were 4.) It was so much fun to spend the day with them!

How adorable is this giant donut birthday cake made by Claire’s Aunt Cathy!
