So Much Happy for Ariane’s Birthday!

Today is my daughter’s birthday! I wish we could be together to celebrate! Here’s the birthday “cake” card and little gift I sent her. Stampin' Up! So Much Happy birthday card and acetate gift box idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
Can you guess her favorite color? I always make purple cards for her! I love this birthday cake card idea from Brenda Quintana.  It is real easy to make with the Happy Dies. I used both the dies and stamp set from the So Much Happy Bundle to create this gift set. Stampin' Up! So Much Happy bundle - visit juststampin.com for inspiration and ordering information - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The So Much Happy Bundle includes the So Much Happy Stamp Set and the Happy Dies. Make birthday cards, graduation gifts, and other papercrafting projects with the So Much Happy Stamp Set. Decorate your projects with fun die-cut elements—balloons, streamers, and more with the coordinating Happy Dies! You can create so many fun projects and cards with this bundle! Here’s the details to make the card:

Measurements:

  • Purple Posy (Card Base): 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, scraps to punch flowers
  • DSP (Playing With Patterns): 4 1/4 x 4 3/8, 1/2 x 4 (inside)
  • Whisper White (icing): 2 pieces 4 1/4 x 1, 4 x 4  (inside)

Directions:

  1. Fold and burnish card base.
  2. Line the top of the letters on the Happy Die with the fold of the card base and run it through the die cut machine.
  3. Adhere the DSP to the card front.
  4. Use the Scalloped edge die to cut 2 pieces for icing. *Run each piece through with different parts of the die to get a different look for each.
  5. Adhere icing strips to the front of the card.
  6. Punch flowers using the Small Bloom Punch and Confetti Flowers Border Punch. Adhere to card with Mini Glue Dots. Add Pearl Basic Jewels to flower centers.
  7. Adhere Whisper White layer inside.  Stamp sentiment in Highland Heather and adhere DSP strip along the bottom.

I have been making a lot of these acetate gift boxes lately.  I enjoy making cards and gifts to coordinate!
Stampin' Up! Clear Acetate Gift Box idea with So Much Happy stamp set - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
I enjoyed reading your comments and ideas for what to put in these 3 1/8 x 3 1/8 acetate boxes! Here’s what I put in this one.

A year ago I never would have thought that I’d be looking for a necklace to attach a mask. It’s a useful and practical gift for this year.  I also added some chocolate (of course)! The acetate box holds 6 wrapped Hershey nuggets as well as the necklace. I used a piece of coordinating cardstock in the front of the box and cut 6 1x 3 in. strips to wrap the nuggets.  I added a small pearl and flowers punched with the Small Bloom Punch and Confetti Flowers Border Punch to each one. Usually we like to give a birthday “experience” every year but there’s certainly nothing usual about this year!  This year has provided enough new “experiences” and she wants/needs a desk for her apartment.  I’m hoping this birthday is better than last year! If you follow my blog you may remember she had to take her graduate exam on her birthday last year and the Uber van she was in was involved in an accident. She spent most of her birthday in the hospital.
She’s not planning to go anywhere today!!!

Today’s the day I promised to announce the blog candy winner of the kit to make the poinsettia acetate box. And the winner is…Bernice P! Congratulations Bernice!

Happy Birthday Carl!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  He spoils me 364 days of the year so I am excited to surprise him today! We recently attended a Casino Night fundraiser for my school and had such a great time. Here’s a photo of us from the event.

I thought I would continue the theme for his birthday.  Here’s the card I made for him.

Stampin Up birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used several retired stamp sets, dies, and DSP to create this card. I know my husband is going to love it! The red glimmer paper and silver foil really make this card sparkle! Here’s a close up of the “slot machine”. The lever actually pulls down! I fussy cut the cherries from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired).

Some chocolate covered “casino chips” add a sweet treat.

Can you guess his birthday gift? I made these “dice” to go with the card to hold his “chips” and added surprise.

Stampin Up Simply Scored Cube Box idea - Jeanie Stark Stampin Up

The cube box is quick & easy to make with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I started with a piece of 8 x 11 Thick Whisper White cardstock.  With the long side across the top I scored it at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10.  I scored the short side at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2.

Look at the photo below to see where to cut to make the box. Remove the little rectangle from the bottom of the box and cut up each of the score lines along the bottom. You remove quite a bit from the top of the box just saving one section for the top/lid. Notch the ends to make it easy to close the box.

Apply Tear & Tape to adhere the sides of the box. Fold the bottom flaps in and adhere with Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive.  I punched 3/4″ circles and adhered with Multipurpose Glue to the sides of the boxes to look like dice.

For his birthday gift, I booked a weekend getaway at the MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino.  I wanted to include a little extra surprise with some “gambling” money. The cube box is a great way to give cash. I folded $ in thirds accordion style and attached with washi tape. The washi tape can be removed without tearing the bills. It is so much fun to pull the top bill and see what looks like a never ending money box!

I hope he’s feeling lucky! I love the way this makes such a fun gift presentation.

A Quick & Easy Box for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #15

I needed a quick & easy box for a little gift. I admit I am often last minute but this was an unexpected special request for a little baby girl.  What could be more special than homemade?! This little gift box was simple to make using the Window Box Thinlits.Stampin Up Window Box Thinlits gift idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used elements from this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board to create this sweet gift box.

No automatic alt text available.

I made Tic Tac Toe two ways: across the top and down the left side. I love how fun and easy it is to create by just choosing elements from the challenge boards each week! The floral squares are cut from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper. I stamped the sentiment from Colorful Seasons inside the bottom of the box using the same color ink as the cardstock, Powder Pink.  It will be a nice surprise when they take the gift out.

One of the things I love about these boxes is the versatility! You can easily reuse this box as a little nightlight by putting a battery tealight inside. Click HERE to see a video, photo tutorial with directions, and 4 more box ideas I made using these dies.

There’s still time to play along with this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge. Challenges run from Thursday – Tuesday with winners announced on Wednesday.
