C is for Coffin Treat Box

Welcome to my ABC Holiday 2019 Series! Throughout this series I will be sharing all kinds of cards, gifts, and ideas to help make your holidays as easy as ABC! What better Halloween gift box than a coffin box? The Coffin Treat Boxes are just right for Halloween treat giving.

Stampin' Up! Coffin Treat Boxes and Wonderfully Wicked Stamp Set and Dies Halloween treat ideas - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

You get 12 coffin boxes and lids for $7. And they’re food safe! Perfect for your favorite trick-or treaters! These are quick & easy to put together with just a few Glue Dots or liquid adhesive. I love the way the sample project (on page 53 in the Holiday Catalog) embossed the lid with the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder so I tried it on one of mine! So cool!

These can be filled with just about anything from small gifts (jewelry, make up, perfume, nail polish, essential oils), gift certificates, practical needs (travel toothpaste, soap, floss, chapstick, etc.) to candy for your favorite college student, friend, family member, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator (LOL), or trick-or-treat visitors! You can even line the inside with the Real Red Ruched Ribbon and/or stamp a sentiment on the bottom for the recipient to find under all the treats.

I thought bones & skulls were the perfect candy treats to go inside a coffin. LOL  My daughter loves Kit Kits so these Halloween ones with skeleton wrappers were just what I was looking for! I found other fun treats for my son.

The ribbon slides off like a belly band to open it. I might even hide a little money in the bottom of these for a fun surprise!

I love these little boxes and had so much fun making them! I stamped the one above using the web from the Wonderfully Wicked stamp set with Versamark Ink then heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to cut the little spider and popped him up with the new mini black Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and cut with a die from the Merry Christmas Dies and tied to the ribbon with some black & white twine. The little bats are from the Every Season Punch Pack which has a set of 4 mini punches.

I used the Word Wishes Dies to cut the Happy Halloween in purple (my daughter’s favorite color). I cut the spider in Smokey Slate and dangled him from the words with some silver thread.  I added the googly eyes for a spooky fun touch!

  • Pressed Petals DSP: 3″ x 4 7/8″, scored on the long side at 3/8″ and 1 3/8″, 4 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ for back layer, 1/4″ x 6″ for envelope
  • Very Vanilla stamped panels: 2 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ (front), 4″ x 4 1/4″ (back)

Assembly

  • Fold and burnish score lines using a bone folder. Fold Old Olive cardstock forward, fold Pressed Petals DSP back
  • Adhere Old Olive DSP to the Old Olive card base.
  • Put Tear & Tape (or other strong adhesive such as Multipurpose Liquid Glue) along the 3/8″ score line. Fold up from 2nd score line and adhere.
  • Stamp sentiments on Very Vanilla cardstock with Golden Glitz Metallic Ink and Soft Suede. (I masked sentiments from Country Home and To A Wild Rose Stamp Sets.)
  • Punch and die cut leaves from Gold Foil using Leaf Punch, leaf from Every Season Punch Pack, and die from Botanical Tags Dies. Adhere to Very Vanilla panel.
  • Emboss sentiment layer with Subtle Embossing Folder for a linen look. Adhere to Pressed Petals DSP.
  • Add adhesive along 3/8″ strip of DSP panel and along bottom of card base. To adhere to card base:  Fold card base flat, center bottom of DSP along bottom of card base and adhere. Then fold adhesive on top of DSP down and adhere to card base.
  • Stamp sentiment for back of card on Very Vanilla. *Tip: For an easy masking technique when you want to stamp 2 colors, use the Stamparatus and a sticky note. First I stamped the sentiment in Golden Glitz Metallic Ink on to my cardstock.  I covered the words I didn’t want to stamp with a sticky note then inked my stamp again with Soft Suede and stamped. So easy!
  • Add leaf die above sentiment and adhere to DSP layer and to the back of card base.

  • Wrap ribbon around DSP on front of card and tie a bow on top.

A Sentimental Fun Fold Card for the Pals Blog Hop

2019-September Blog Hop Badge

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects for “It’s the Sentiment That Counts”  – showcasing new or favorite sentiments as the focal point of their project.  You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin’ Up! has so many great sentiments to choose from it was really hard to pick a favorite. Then inspiration hit me as I was decorating my home for fall.

Thanksgiving pillow

I love the sentiments on this pillow (enough to buy two to sit on my dining room chairs). It really sums up how I feel! There’s inspiration everywhere! I love a challenge and decided to recreate this “sentimental” pillow for my card.

Stampin' Up! Country Home and To A Wild Rose Fun Fold Thanksgiving card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I used two stamp sets for my sentiments, To A Wild Rose and Country Home. This pop up fun fold design really showcases the sentiment layer and makes it the focal point. I used the Stamparatus and the new Delicata Golden Glitz Metallic Ink to stamp my sentiments. I stamped grateful twice, first in Golden Glitz then with Soft Suede so it would be darker like the pillow but I also wanted it to shine like the others.

Stampin' Up! Country Home and To A Wild Rose Fun Fold Thanksgiving card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

It’s hard to see the shine in my photo but trust me, it’s there. I punched and cut the leaves from Gold Foil and glued them on before embossing the sentiment layer with the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it the look of fabric like the pillow. (Sometimes I do go a bit overboard when I’m trying to recreate the look; however, I really like how this turned out and probably wouldn’t have thought to do that if it wasn’t for my inspiration piece.)

You can stamp a message and/or write a note on the back of the card. The sentiment I used is from Country Home. This card can sit on a shelf or desk and folds flat to fit in an envelope.

Check back tomorrow for the tutorial how to make this fun fold card. You can use this design with other sentiments for many different occasions! Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out on project ideas and more!

So what do you think…Did I get the look of my inspiration piece? Leave a comment below and let me know where you find inspiration.
