Thank You, Friend

I’m still cranking out thank you cards! I received lots of yummy food from friends while recuperating so when I return the dishes and baskets I like to include a little note.  I love the Host Stamp Set in the annual catalog, Love You Lots.  The animals featured in this set make adorable note cards.

How simple and cute is this 3 x 3 note card?! I started with a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock measuring 3 x 6 and scored it at 3″. The real red layer is a 2 3/4 square and the stamped whisper white layer is a 2 1/2 square.  I stamped the ladybugs and sentiment with Basic Black ink and then colored the ladybugs with my real red marker. Next, I made an envelope using a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Sending Love 6 x 6 Paper Stack and the Envelope Punch Board. It is so simple to make your own envelopes following the simple directions right on the envelope punch board.  This is definitely one of my favorite tools as I use it for more than just envelopes.  You can make all kinds of candy treat holders, etc.  You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one… it is only $20 (item # 133774) and even has a built in corner rounder.

Here’s a short video showcasing the Envelope Punch Board.

I dressed up my envelope with some organza ribbon and real red bakers twine (left over from the holiday catalog). I stamped and colored some more ladybugs then cut them out with the Layering Circles Framelits .  I added a scalloped circle cut in basic black and adhered this to the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  This way the ribbon piece just slides off to open the envelope.

Happy 90th Birthday to Sister Corda!

Last week I had my monthly get together with my Paper Pumpkin Players.  Everyone put together their kits and made lots of alternative cards and projects (Thanksgiving table favors, boxes, etc.) but the fun didn’t stop there. After spending the afternoon crafting we surprised Sister Corda with a Paper Pumpkin Party in honor of her 90th birthday!  She is one of the most amazing people I know and she loves her Paper Pumpkin kits and crafting as much as I do!

Sister Corda

Before I share pictures of our Paper Pumpkin get together and surprise dinner party, I want to show you one of the cards and gifts I “wrapped” for Sister Corda. I had a special request to make a 90th birthday card for Sister Corda (and to order her a new set of the standard cutting pads for her Big Shot).  Here is the card I made.

Stampin Up Party Pop Up Thinlits and Large Number Dies Birthday card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I made a double z fold card. (Click HERE  for directions and to see the one I made previously for my daughter.) I used the Large Numbers Framelits to cut the 90 from Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I used the Party Pop-Up Thinlits to cut the Happy Birthday die then I cut it apart to go across the front.  The inside sentiment is from a retired stamp set and was the perfect saying for Sister Corda. I stamped the sentiment then punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.

I wanted to wrap the cutting pads in matching DSP so I used the envelope punch board and a piece of 12 x 2 DSP to make a large envelope to hold the cutting pads. It was easy to make following the directions right on the envelope punch board. The standard cutting pads fit perfectly inside!

I decorated the large custom envelope by placing the card in a clear envelope and adhering it to the front of the package.  I added some Mint Macaron ribbon and it was complete and ready to deliver.

Here’s a few of the Paper Pumpkin projects we made. Pictures below is one of the alternative cards Sister Corda made with the leftover punched leaves from the kit. She sponged the leaves and embossed trees and added a sentiment from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.

Paula made the box using one of the cards in the kit. (Check back tomorrow for directions how to make it.)

I love crafting with these ladies! (Unfortunately Margie had to leave early before this picture was taken.)

I surprised Sister Corda with one of her favorite dinners (Maryland crab cakes) and an ice cream cake for dessert. Everyone popped their “pumpkin” crackers and adorned their party crowns.

E is for Envelope DSP

Welcome to my ABC’s of DSP series! This month I am featuring projects showcasing Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper. Did you know Stampin’ Up! has Envelope paper? It is often overlooked in the catalog (page 176).  It is thin text-weight paper to use for making envelopes.  You get 20 sheets: 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in 5 colors. It comes in 12 x 12 sheets in the In Colors.  I enjoy making odd sized cards on occasion so this paper is great to make matching envelopes and you know how I love the In Colors! I used the 2016 – 2018 In Colors for today’s cards and project.

3 x 3 In Color Gift Enclosure Cards

I love these 3 x 3 cards and they were quick & easy to make! (My kind of cards!!!)  I cut my cardstock 3 x 6 and scored it at 3.  I cut Whisper White at 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 and ran it through the Big Shot with the Elegant Dots Embossing folder before adhering it to my card. I like the way the dots on the embossing folder compliment the dotted envelope paper. I stamped the flower from the Flower Shop stamp set on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I stamped the sentiments from Tin of Cards Stamp Set on top using Basic Black ink.  I cut them out with the Layering Circles Framelits and glued them to a scalloped circle.  I cut a  4 inch piece of ribbon and attached it with glue dots. I popped the layered sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The envelopes were easy to make using the Envelope Punch Board.  Check out this short video from Stampin’ Up! to see how simple it is to use!

I used the 2016-2018 In Color Envelope paper to make my custom sized envelopes.  I cut the paper at 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 and followed the directions on the punch board.  Here’s my finished cards and envelopes.

After I finished these adorable cards I thought they would make a nice little gift.  So I pulled out a half size wood mount stamp case.  It’s the perfect size for these cards, envelopes, and some chocolate.  I only had 1 mini Hershey bar but you could easily add another in the box.

img_5211
Half Size wood- mount stamp case used as a card holder for 3 x 3 cards.

I made an insert for the case to keep the cards in place.  It measures 3 1/4 x 6.  I scored it at 3 1/2, 4 1/4, and 5.  Fold on the score lines and insert in the case.  I also cut a piece of Dapper Denim Envelope paper at 11 1/4 x 3 3/8 to slide into the sleeve on the cover.  I decorated the front to match the look of the cards.

I hope you like today’s cards and project.  These stamp cases are wonderful storage containers for all kinds of things.  I use the half size to store my retired In Color ink refills.  It holds 5 refills and stands up on my shelf. You can purchase any of the items used to make today’s projects in my online shop.  You can click HERE to get started. Please use the Hostess Code 7DB3CBKS when you check out.  I’ve added a visual below to show where to enter the code. I always send a thank you gift each month when you order from me.  I appreciate each and every order!
