Today is my son’s birthday. He took on a new business adventure this year and I couldn’t be more proud of him and all he has accomplished! I had to pull out some retired Designer Series Paper for the projects and card I made for him.

He started a virtual golf business which opened mid January. I decided to go with a golf theme for his birthday. The retired Country Club DSP was perfect for his card.

I saw a sketch for this mini slimline card and knew it would make a great masculine card. Here’s the card details:

Card Base: 6 1/4 x 6 1/2 scored at 3 1/4
Layer 1: 3 x 6
DSP Layer: 2 7/8 x 5 7/8 and 1 1/2 x 3 1/4 layered on 1 5/8 x 3 3/8 cardstock
Banner: 3 1/2 x 1 1/4

I also made him a business card holder for his desk.

I don’t have one of his new business cards but he sent me a picture. (You know me, I wanted to make sure everything color coordinated.)

My last project is a treat holder I made using the Love You Always Treat Boxes. I love these boxes! They are so easy for a quick gift! There’s a hidden surprise inside this one.

I found these golf ball chocolates at our local candy store. Hidden under the candy is his birthday check. I also sent him a fun golf bag pen holder I ordered online for his new office.

Gum Holder Tutorial and Productivity Tip!

Did you know that chewing gum can increase your productivity? According to studies, chewing gum has incredible effects (speeds up reaction time, boosts cognitive abilities, combats sleepiness, and reduces stress)! My son is starting a new business this week and my daughter has her first major grad school test so I thought I would send them both a little something “Extra”.

This gum holder is fun and simple to make. I had to make my daughter the cat version (as Storm is her “study buddy” these days) and went with some retired Country Club DSP for my son. (His new business adventure is virtual golf.) You can customize the colors, etc. for someone in your life! I’d like to thank Tracy Bradley for the inspiration for this gum holder box idea!
Here’s the details:

Measurements:

Cardstock for box: 3 1/2 x 8 1/2
Score on the long side @ 3 1/8, 3 5/8, 6 3/4, 7 1/4
Score on the short side @ 1/2, 3
DSP: 2 3/8 x 1 1/8, 2 3/8 x 2

Directions:

Cut small square and rectangle from short side (* photo below).
Cut 1/2 inch squares from the middle section.
Punch or die cut circle notch from the top of the box.
Use Tear & Tape or Liquid Glue to adhere the sides.
Add DSP panels.
Pop up die cut or punched shape with Stampin’ Dimensionals to slide lid under to keep box closed. *Tip: Fold the lid over and add 2 Dimensionals just under the lid. Add a third dimensional on the bottom of the die cut piece.

This card is quick & easy to make! Here’s the details:

Materials & Measurements

Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes
Night of Navy cardstock: 2 3/4 x 5, 5/8 x 6 strip (for envelope)
DSP: 2 1/2 x 5, 1/2 x 6 strip (for envelope)
Garden Green cardstock: 3/4 x 3 1/2 for banner
Whisper White cardstock: 3 x 3 to stamp and die cut sentiment

Directions

Adhere the DSP strip to the cardstock layer and then to the note card.
Snip the ends of the banner and adhere to the DSP.
Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy ink and cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Die. Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere cardstock and DSP strips to front of envelope for the finishing touch.
