E is for Encouragement

Welcome to my ABC Card Series! Throughout this series I’ll be sharing a variety of cards for every occasion from A to Z! Today’s card is for times when we want to encourage a friend or family member.  Good Luck is the perfect sentiment to send someone for an upcoming surgery, exam, interview, new job, etc.  My friend, Margie, has been wanting a stamp set like this. I hope she likes this card!

Stampin' Up! Believe You Can Good Luck card idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

My Stampin’ Up! order came last week and I received the Believe You Can stamp set as a Host Reward. (Ask me how you can earn this stamp set for your collection!)

I love how you can change the sentiment in the banner for different occasions. (I am also in love with the quote from Teddy Roosevelt.) This is a versatile stamp set and one I knew I had to have!

I colored the stamped image with my Stampin’ Blends and cut it out with the new Stitched Nested Labels Dies. These double stitched dies cut the image and the border piece.  Double whammy! I can use the leftover piece on another card!

I used one die to cut the stamped image and a larger die to cut the Designer Series Paper.  I like the way it looks like another layer with the border from the card base  You can see how it’s stitched around the edges.

I thought the leaves on the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper would be a good background for the stamped image.  The designs in this paper pack are all soft shades of green. You can use this paper with many different color combinations.

B is for Bridge Fun Fold

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series. Today I am sharing a new fold (new to me at least) called the bridge fold.  Linda Heller shared this fold created by Debbi Muche.  This is a fun card that can stand up on a desk. My version uses the High Tide Stamp Set (which I absolutely love).

img_2137

I had a request to make a card for someone that is going through chemo. I think the sentiments in this stamp set are perfect for encouragement and support!

High Tide Stamp Set

The bridge fold is quick & easy to make (just the way I like it)!  Start with a piece of cardstock that measures 4 1/4 x 8.  Score at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 5 1/2, and 6 3/4.

img_2120

Fold and crease the score lines so you have the shorter ends in the front and the larger panel set back.  I chose By the Shore Designer Series Paper to use on my panels but you could easily use the stamps in the set to create your own watery background. I cut 2 pieces of DSP at 1 x 4 and 1 at 2 3/4 x 4.  I wanted my panels to look like one continuous flow so I started with a 6 x 4 piece and cut them in order to line up across the panel.

img_2124

I stamped the center panel using Basic Black and Dapper Denim ink. I cut a 1 x 5 1/2 strip of Crumb Cake and stamped it using Sahara Sand ink. I fussy cut along the top part of the strip. I used Fast Fuse just on the ends and adhered this strip to the panel.  The lighthouse is two step stamping.  This is a photopolymer stamp set which makes it easy to see and do. First I stamped the outline in Real Red ink on Shimmery White cardstock.  Then I stamped the details in Basic Gray ink and fussy cut it out.  I used foam adhesive strips just along the bottom and side to pop up the lighthouse. I love how it turned out! It even folds flat to fit in the envelope to mail!

img_2140

Linda Heller’s version used the new Daisy Delight stamp set, Daisy Punch, and Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (available June 1st).  I CASEd her design (with a few changes) to make this birthday card for my friend, Caroline.

img_2142

These are so much fun to make and the possibilities are endless.  My mind is racing with more card ideas I want to make using this fold! If you decide to give this fold a try I would love to see what you create.  Email me a photo (j.stark@myactv.net).
