B is for Bridge Fun Fold

Welcome to my ABC’s with Fun Folds series. Today I am sharing a new fold (new to me at least) called the bridge fold.  Linda Heller shared this fold created by Debbi Muche.  This is a fun card that can stand up on a desk. My version uses the High Tide Stamp Set (which I absolutely love).

I had a request to make a card for someone that is going through chemo. I think the sentiments in this stamp set are perfect for encouragement and support!

High Tide Stamp Set

The bridge fold is quick & easy to make (just the way I like it)!  Start with a piece of cardstock that measures 4 1/4 x 8.  Score at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 5 1/2, and 6 3/4.

Fold and crease the score lines so you have the shorter ends in the front and the larger panel set back.  I chose By the Shore Designer Series Paper to use on my panels but you could easily use the stamps in the set to create your own watery background. I cut 2 pieces of DSP at 1 x 4 and 1 at 2 3/4 x 4.  I wanted my panels to look like one continuous flow so I started with a 6 x 4 piece and cut them in order to line up across the panel.

I stamped the center panel using Basic Black and Dapper Denim ink. I cut a 1 x 5 1/2 strip of Crumb Cake and stamped it using Sahara Sand ink. I fussy cut along the top part of the strip. I used Fast Fuse just on the ends and adhered this strip to the panel.  The lighthouse is two step stamping.  This is a photopolymer stamp set which makes it easy to see and do. First I stamped the outline in Real Red ink on Shimmery White cardstock.  Then I stamped the details in Basic Gray ink and fussy cut it out.  I used foam adhesive strips just along the bottom and side to pop up the lighthouse. I love how it turned out! It even folds flat to fit in the envelope to mail!

Linda Heller’s version used the new Daisy Delight stamp set, Daisy Punch, and Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (available June 1st).  I CASEd her design (with a few changes) to make this birthday card for my friend, Caroline.

These are so much fun to make and the possibilities are endless.  My mind is racing with more card ideas I want to make using this fold! If you decide to give this fold a try I would love to see what you create.  Email me a photo (j.stark@myactv.net).

Fun Fold Friday…Double Z Fold

I have been receiving swap cards in the mail all week. What a treat it has been going to the mailbox!  This beauty was an absolute favorite of mine and I thought it was perfect to showcase in my Fun Fold Friday series!

Card Created By Sharon Cline

I love beachy cards and this one has such a cool sentiment to go with it!  Sharon outdid herself with this fun fold card.  Check out how it looks when you open it up.

I love the way she used the Stampin’ Up!  Window Sheets to cut thin strips to hold the fish. The Seaside Embossing Folder was the perfect choice for a background.  Sharon used the Seaside Shore Stamp Set which coordinates beautifully with By The Shore Designer Series Paper. Click HERE to see more ideas and products from the soft & nautical By The Shore Suite. You can easily purchase any of the products in the suite by simply clicking on the image.

To make a Double Z Fold card you start with a piece of 4 1/4 x 11 cardstock. Score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2.  You will score the other 11 inch strips the same. Make sure you only put adhesive on each end of the thin strip when adhering it to your card.

I mailed my swap cards out earlier this week. I made a fun fold card too! I couldn’t decide which color flower I wanted to do so I used three different In Colors for my cards.
