B is for the Big Shot

Welcome to my ABC’s of Stampin’ series! Each day I will focus on some of the basics of stamping and share some tips, tutorials, and exclusive Back to School Specials as I share cards and projects.

I LOVE and use my Big Shot every day! It cuts, scores, and embosses! You can create boxes, bags, bows, and more! The Stampin’ Up! Big Shot comes with an EXCLUSIVE  base plate that is GREAT!!! Here’s a video showing you all the basics.

Click HERE to see and print a flyer for how to make your “sandwich” for the Big Shot when using Intricate Dies,  Thinlits & Framelits, and Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. You can keep it as a reference by your Big Shot.

Today is my mom’s birthday! She loves the fall colors. Our home was always decorated in shades of red, orange, gold, and tan.  We had orange woodwork in our kitchen and textured wallpaper in our living room and dining room (Think late 70’s).  I saw a card by Diane Barnes using these flowers and die and it reminded me of my bedroom curtains when I was a kid.  They had these bold, bright flowers in orange and yellow. I used my Big Shot and the Precision Base Plate to make this childhood memory inspired birthday card for my mom.

Here are some tips and tricks for using the Precision Base Plate with your Big Shot for when you need to cut detailed dies.

You will love what the Big Shot can do for you. It’s a MUST HAVE for any crafter.

I admit, the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine is an investment. (But well worth it!)  Here are some suggestions to get it at a savings…

1) Sign up to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and order it with your starter kit.  You get $125 in product of your choice for $99 (shipping & handling is included). Plus you will get a FREE Paper Pumpkin kit, business supplies, and more to get you started. I’d love to chat with you if you are interested or have questions. There’s no pressure or obligation. Stampin’ Up! welcomes hobby demonstrators who just want to get product at a discount. Why not join?

2) Host a get together or virtual party and earn hostess dollars toward your purchase.  I will set up a hostess code so you and your friends and family can order online and you will get the rewards.

3) Just go ahead and order it from my website today and take advantage of today’s Back to School Special… With the purchase of the Big Shot I will send you a Free set of Replacement Cutting Pads (I have 2 sets I use all the time…1 just for embossing and 1 for cutting.  If you missed my previous post about this you can click HERE ). NOTE: You can only get the new updated base plate through Stampin’ Up! It comes with your Big Shot.

If you already have the Big Shot you can order just the new updated platform ($26). Therefore, I am offering a second Back to School Special for today…If you already own the Big Shot and want to purchase the new platform from me today, I will send you a sampling of precut framelits, thinlits, and embossed cardstock pieces.  Oh the possibilities! This way you can see and create with some of the different options that are available.  What fun!  (I will also send a sampling along with the cutting pads to anyone who purchases the Big Shot from me.) Remember to use the Hostess Code VS23B4FP  when you check out.

Fun Fold Friday

Card Created By Kitty Miller

While I am away I thought I would share this Fun Fold Card I received in the mail last week.  I joined a card swap with 15 other stampers and it has been so much fun receiving these cards in the mail. (So much better than junk mail or bills in the mail!)  I will be showcasing all the gorgeous cards so check back again.

Kitty CASed (Copied And Shared) her card from Patty Bennett.  I  have made several versions of this fun fold card in the past and this makes me want to make another. I will post one when I get back home and will share lots of photos with step by step directions.

Here is a picture showing what it looks like when you open the top flap. You can see how the circular opening in the card body moves right over the circle that is attached to the designer paper.

Here is the inside of the card.

I love the way Kitty added the flower from Botanical Blooms on the back of the circle punch so you see it when the card is opened.  Very clever! (And so easy to cut out using the matching Framelits!)

The sentiments are from the new Here for You stamp set.  I really like the different sentiments in this set.

I am still finishing up my swap cards to send.  Here’s a little preview. I just love this stamp set and the new In Colors.

Today we got my daughter all moved in to her new dorm room.  We even got pictures hung to make it look homey.  She loved her jar of Hugs & Kisses!  If you didn’t see yesterday’s post (and enter the contest) click HERE to leave a comment for a chance to win a set of handmade cards.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Fun Fold Friday…Collar Fold

IMG_1136

This is the card I am sharing this week at our monthly card club.  My friend Margie named our group C3…Creative Card Club. She is so clever!  I always look forward to getting together with these ladies and making cards. We have a lot of fun!

This card could be used for so many different occasions. I love this sentiment from Suite Sayings. I started with a mint macaron card base cut at 4 1/2 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2.  I adhered a layer of crumb cake measuring 5 1/4 x 2.  The Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper is cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  I marked the center at 2 5/8″ then measured and cut in 1 1/2″ and folded it back to look like a collar.  Our Designer Series Paper is double sided so you get to see the design on the back.  How cool is that!  I’m a visual person so I’ve included lots of photos for you.

I put a Stampin Dimensional under each fold and adhered the DSP to the card base.

I stamped the sentiment using Night of Navy ink.  To decorate, I cut the flowers and stem using The Big Shot, Precision Base Plate, and Botanical Builder Framelits.  The Precision Base Plate works great with detailed framelits and makes it so easy to have nice clean  cuts. I used the Die Brush to easily remove the pieces from the dies.  Having the right tools makes life simple!

I just love the flower die in this framelits set! You get 14 different dies in the set!  Today’s card uses just 3 of the dies.  I added a dimensional to the back of the flower to hold the leaf in place and pop it up on the card.  I used a glue dot to attach the flower center then added a pearl. And we’re done!
