Happy Birthday Linda!

Balloon Adventures Stamp Set, Party Animal Designer Series Paper, and Stitched Shapes Framelits

Today is my sister’s birthday. She would want me to mention she’s my “younger” sister. ūüôā (I have 4 sisters and 1 brother.) ¬†Linda is always on the go! She likes to be busy and is always planning her next project or vacation. ¬†I thought this sentiment from Balloon Adventures (available Jan. 4th) was just perfect for her! She is moving in to a new home next week so I didn’t want to send her something else to pack up and move. ¬†I made a pocket card to hold a gift card. ¬†(You could also put a check or money in the pocket.)

The Stamp Set, Designer Series Paper, and ribbon are from the Party Animal Suite in the new Occasions catalog. If you are not currently working with a demonstrator and would like a copy of this catalog I would be happy to send you one.  Email me and I will get one in the mail to you along with the new Sale-A -Bration catalog.

I used the new Stitched Shapes Framelits on this card.  I used the largest square framelit and made a rectangle. I did this technique before using the Hearth & Home Framelits to made a double window.  You can see that post and directions HERE.

To make today’s card I started with a piece of 4 1/4 x 10 1/4″ Whisper White thick cardstock. ¬†I scored it at 2 and 4 3/4″ and folded along the score lines. ¬†I added sticky strip and folded the end over to make a pocket. It is a standard size card and will fit in the Stampin Up! medium envelopes.

I used the Party Animal Designer Series Paper (available Jan. 4th) on this card.

The piece on the front measures 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 and the inside piece measures 4 1/4 x a smidge less than 5 1/2. (So it can fold over easily.)  Next I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Whisper White using Pacific Point ink.  I used the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies to cut my rectangle. To do this you have to make sure the cutting plate does not cover all the way to the end of the die. I added some photos below so you can see how I cut the die with the Big Shot.  I placed the cutting pad just short from covering the die on the left hand side the first time I ran the die through the Big Shot. It cut the die only where I placed the cutting pad on top.  Then I lined the die up and placed the cutting pad on top making sure not to cover all the way on the right this time.

I love the look of the Stitched Shapes Framelits! ¬†I framed it with a layer of Crushed Curry cardstock measuring 2 7/8 x 4″. Before I attached this to my card base I stamped and adhered my inside sentiment on a piece of whisper white measuring the same as the Crushed Curry, 2 7/8 x 4″. ¬†I stamped and punched some balloons and adhered them on the inside pocket. ¬†Next I adhered the layer on the front of the card. ¬†It is much easier to place it correctly to cover the inside sentiment. ¬†Just add adhesive to the left side making sure you don’t glue it to the inside of the card.

For a final touch I made a bow with Emerald Envy 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and adhered it with a glue dot then decorated my envelope to coordinate. I like the fun bright colors!

P is for Punches (and Paper Pumpkin)

I love the Stampin’ Up! Punches! They make it so easy to add interesting layers to a project. I have¬†plenty of photos and¬†punched projects to share with you today as well as my¬†Paper Pumpkin Preview, videos, and special offers. Let’s get started with a quick 2 minute video showcasing one of my favorite punches, the tag topper punch.

Oh My Gosh!!!  Did you just love the candle wrap she showed in the video?! What a clever gift presentation! Here are some projects I made with the tag topper punch.

The tag topper punch can be used for cards, gift pouches, as well as tags and more. I love making gift sets that all go together. ¬†The measurements for the gift pouch came from Hannah McCurley (StampinbyHannah). ¬†Start with a piece of 4 x 4 1/2 Designer Series Paper and score on the long side @ 2″ and 4″. ¬†Add tear & tape along the edge to adhere. Punch the top with the tag topper punch and staple the bottom closed. I decorated the front using the Balloon Bouquet Punch and stamped the sentiment from Thoughtful Banners. This is the perfect size treat holder for miniature candy bars.

I embossed the matching gift tag with the Confetti Embossing Folder and punched coordinating balloons. ¬†The sentiment is punched out using the Duet Banner Punch. The Basic Black Bakers Twine is used on all 3 projects to “tie” it all together. ūüôā

You can watch the short video below to see how I made this gift box topper using the Festive Flower Punch. The sentiment on the tag is punched with the Decorative Label Punch.

Here’s a little trick I found on Pinterest for using the Elegant Butterfly and circle punches to make bats. So cool for Halloween projects!!

As you can see in the photo below I have¬†Plenty of Punches! The Stampin’ Up! Punches can store flat or standing on edge. It’s best to use your whole hand when punching. ¬†These punches work better if you set them flat on a table and then punch using direct downward pressure. Happy Punching!

Here are some past¬†projects I’ve made using¬†punches.

Made using the Triple Banner Punch
Made using the Tree Builder Punch
Made using the Bow Builder Punch
Made using Circle Punches (and Envelope Punch Board)

Paper Pumpkin Preview…Something Good To Eat Kit ¬†September 2016

Paper Pumpkin Players

A few of my local Paper Pumpkin subscribers wanted to get together and make some alternative projects using the Paper Pumpkin Banner Surprise kit.  Pinterest here we come!

I made several sample project ideas.  Everyone wanted to make the gift card/money holder using the bags in the kit.  I used the Thankful Thoughts stamp set on mine as I made it to give to our cat sitter who took such good care of our fur babies while we were away.  When you fold the bag you get one pocket for the cash/gift card/check and another to add a note. You can use washi tape to seal the sides or just tie ribbon around it so the gift card or money does not fall out. The ladies chose to use the B.Y.O.P. stamp set for theirs.

They decided to make a shaker party hat next and everyone chose a different In Color for their card base.  We used the Balloon Bouquet punch in addition to the products in the kit.

We had such a fun afternoon and decided to do get together again next month.

You too can be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber.  Just click the link at the top to sign up and start receiving your project kit.  You must sign up by the 10th of the month to receive the August kit.
