Welcome to my ABC Holiday 2019 Series! Throughout this series I will be sharing all kinds of cards, gifts, and ideas to help make your holidays as easy as ABC! Kits are great to give as gifts or buy for yourself to make your holidays stress free and easier than ever! Here’s a look at the new Christmas Countdown Project Kit.
This kit is amazing! It includes enough supplies to create 25 mini boxes, plus a sturdy outer box to hold them all. When my kids were little I always had a different handmade advent calendar with activities for each day. I love how these sturdy hand-crafted boxes can be used year after year for a great holiday tradition! You could fill the boxes with small treats or do what I did and put a note in each box with a special activity to do each day. (We would be doing most of these things anyway but this made it something special to look forward to each day.) My kids were always so excited to get up and see what fun thing we were going to do that day. Here’s a few ideas to get you started.
- read a Christmas story (I always had a new book for them to unwrap.)
- pick out (or make) a new ornament for the tree
- write a letter to Santa
- visit Santa at the mall
- go to the tree farm to pick out the tree
- decorate the tree
- choose an “angel” from the angel tree at church
- shop for child/family in need
- bake cookies
- make Christmas tags
- play Christmas music and wrap presents
- watch a Christmas movie together (either a new one or family favorite)
- go for a drive to look at the holiday lights
- do a random act of kindness
Here’s a little secret from me to you….I would fill the box with blank notes and just write on it the night before. Let’s face it, who wants to predict what will work two weeks from now?! Shhhh…don’t tell my kids I did that! LOL

This would be a great early holiday gift to give to friends, family members, or teachers (Imagine the joy the kids in school could enjoy as they anticipate a fun fact or activity each day)!
You can get even more bang for your buck by turning the boxes around and decorate the other end to use for another countdown activity throughout the year….days til the end of the school year, family vacation, etc. Or use the boxes for storage of small items…embellishments in your craft room, jewelry, hair ties or bows in a child”s room, nuts & bolts in the workshop, paper clips, brads,etc. in the office…. The possibilities are endless!!!!
