As we get ready to say goodbye to 2024 I want to let you know I am so grateful for your support, prayers, and kindness this past year. I appreciate you and the ways you support my Stampin’ Up! business. Something Fancy for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #253

Happy first Thursday of the month and welcome to a new Tic Tac Toe Challenge! I needed a sympathy card this week. While these are never my favorite cards to make, I wanted it to be special. The Tic Tac Toe Challenge board provided just the inspiration I needed.

The center square caught my attention. Scoring is a simple technique that adds a subtle elegance. I created Tic Tac Toe going straight down the middle with Patterned Paper, Scoring, Circle. Here’s my card.

I love that the Golden Greenery Dies work with the stamp set and specialty designer series papers. I cut my greenery from the DSP. You can view the complete list of products used to create this card below. Here’s the details:

Stamps: Something Fancy, Quiet Reflections, So Sincere
Papers: Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Season of Green & Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper, Graceful Greenery Vellum
Ink: Old Olive Stampin’ Pad
Tools & Accessories: Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Paper Trimmer, Golden Greenery Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, Bough Punch, Gold Satin Edge Ribbon, Gold Glimmer Enamel Dots, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Adhesive

Measurements:

Card base (Very Vanilla): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 score at 4 1/4
Old Olive: Cut 2 @ 3 5/8 x 4 7/8, scrap to punch 2 leaves with Bough Punch
Very Vanilla: Cut 2 @ 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 score @ 1/4 and 3/8 from edge on all four sides, scrap to stamp and die cut sentiment

Directions:

Fold and burnish card base.
Score both Very Vanilla layers according to measurements above. *You can use either the Paper Trimmer or Score Board; however, you get a deeper score with the Score Board (shown on left).
Adhere Very Vanilla layer to Old Olive layer with adhesive of your choice.
Die cut greenery from Specialty Designer Series Papers using Golden Greenery Dies. Adhere greenery and punched leaves to Very Vanilla layer with Mini Glue Dots.
Stamp sentiment in Old Olive ink and cut with Stylish Shapes Die. Add a strip of ribbon on the back of the die cut and adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere layers to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Embellish with Gold Glimmer Enamel Circle Dots.
Stamp inside sentiment on very vanilla scored layer and adhere to old olive layer. Adhere inside card.
Optional: Score envelope on all four sides same as very vanilla layers. (Unfortunately it’s hard to see it in the photo.)

Book Binding Z Fold Card for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #249

I have Tic Tac Toe several different ways using 7 of the 9 elements. I started with Patterned Paper, Fun Fold, Ribbon/Twine and just kept adding Layers, Die Cut, Gems and created a Thinking of You card.

I love to create fun fold cards! This one combines two different fun folds- book binding and Z fold. Here’s a closer look at the open card which shows the fun fold.

The sentiment I used on the front is from Stampin’ Up!’s Quiet Reflection stamp set. The inside sentiment is also from Stampin’ Up! called Comforting Thoughts. Both of these stamp sets have great sentiments for a variety of cards.

The Frames & Flowers Specialty 12″ x 12″ Paper is unlike other patterned paper packs. It has three sheets of double-sided designs with floral and greenery designs on one side and all-purpose patterns on the other. And it also has three sheets of die-cut greenery elements that you can use on card fronts or to frame photos on scrapbook pages. As a fun plus, some of the die-cuts are sized to fit card fronts, making it easy to create quick, beautiful cards. This paper is a must for card makers and scrapbookers!

Product colors: Early Espresso, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive, Petal Pink, Pretty Peacock, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce, Soft Sea Foam

I used one of the die cuts from the DSP pack to decorate the envelope flap to coordinate with the card.

Here are the details to create this fun fold card.

Measurements:

Card base (Basic Beige): 4 ¼ ” x 11” scored at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 5 ½
Basic Beige: 4 ¼ x 3 ¼ for card front, scrap to punch 1 3/4″ Circle for sentiment
DSP (Flowers & Frames): 1 x 4, 2 x 4, 3 x 4, Die cut wreath & stems

Directions:

Fold & burnish score lines. Fold in half on the 5 ½ score line then fold back on the 4 ¼ and 2 1/8 score lines to create the book binding feature and the Z fold.
Add Adhesive to the space between the 5 ½ and 4 ¼ score lines then close to adhere.
Adhere 1×4 DSP strip to outside edge along bookbinding feature.
Adhere 2×4 DSP on the right edge on inside of the card.
Adhere 3×4 DSP to Basic Beige layer.
Fold back the Z fold feature and add adhesive to the top panel. Center the Basic Beige layer over the adhesive and adhere to z fold.

*Note: This cardstock piece is centered over the z fold not the card front. It will be offset on the card front so that you see less of the left DSP and more of the right.
Add Stampin’ Seal Adhesive to center of wreath. Twist Linen Thread and adhere to wreath. Add die cut stems.
Stamp sentiment on Basic Beige and punch with 1 3/4″ punch. Adhere sentiment to wreath die cut with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Tie a simple knot with ribbon, trim ends, and attach to card with Mini Glue Dot.
Add wreath to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Add a few petal Pink Foiled Gems.
Stamp sentiment on inside of card.
Adhere die cut floral to envelope flap.
