I had a client ask for some inspiration for note cards. That request inspired me to pull out one of my favorite ideas for gifting a set of note cards…the Card Clutch. This “purse” holds 4 Stampin’ Up! note cards & envelopes.
This makes a great gift for Mother’s Day, teachers, friends, hostess, birthday, etc. Who doesn’t need thank you cards?! Or simply change the sentiments for an all occasion set of cards.
I used the Flowering Zinnias Suite Collection for today’s project. This suite is part of the NEW ONLINE EXCLUSIVES that will be released tomorrow, March 5th. Be sure to check back to see all the fabulous new items!
Here’s a video showcasing everything included in the NEW Flowering Zinnias Suite.
Flowering Zinnias Suite Collection (#163485) This collection includes the following:
Simply Zinnia Bundle (#163480)
Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder (#163337)
Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper (#163469)
Adhesive-Backed Sequins (#163484)
The Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for today’s project!
You need a full 12 x 12 sheet to create the purse and ~1/2 sheet to create the note cards. The pattern I used for the note cards made it quick and easy with just a few cuts.
Here’s a look at the note cards.
Supplies/Measurements:
Card base: Basic White Note Cards & Envelopes (Need 4) 5 x 7 *Come prescored at 3 1/2
DSP (Flowering Zinnias): cut 12 x 12 DSP in 1/2 then cut 4 @ 3 x 4 1/2
Cardstock Layer (Old Olive): cut 4 @ 3 1/8 x 4 5/8
Basic White: Cut 4 strips @ 3/4 x 2 1/2 to stamp sentiment in Old Olive. Trim end at angle.
Embellish with Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies
Emboss envelope flap with Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder
The sentiment is from the Simply Zinnia Stamp Set (Available as a bundle-SAVE 10%).
I fussy cut the flower on the purse from the DSP. *You could create your own flower with the dies/bundle.
The purse is really easy to make with just a few folds…no adhesive needed!

***Anniversary Special***
This week is my 11th anniversary with Stampin’ Up! I can’t believe it’s been 11 years already.
I could not have done this for this long without the support from all of you! As a special thank you and to celebrate the occasion, I’m sending out handmade cards with every order this month. The more you order, the more cards you’ll receive …up to 11 cards (in honor of my 11 years as a SU demonstrator) with an order of $100 or more. These are all cards that I have handmade. You can use them as inspiration or send them out to share the joy with others.
I am going to have to add to the list of My Favorite Things from the Mini Catalog! I have been playing with the new Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder and it is AMAZING!!! I created this set of cards in no time and I have a pile of hearts leftover to make more!!!!
Previously I posted some embossed cards I created using Color Buddies. If you you missed that post you can check it out HERE. Today’s cards showcase more Color Buddies…using DSP instead of just cardstock. I had so much fun putting these cards together. Here’s a closer look at each.
Basic White Layer: cut 2 @ 4 x 5 1/4 then cut using the largest Stitched with Whimsy Die
Cardstock: cut 2 x 6 strips for each color with *Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder
DSP (6×6 Designer Series Paper Assortments): cut 2 x 6 strips with *Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder (*See cutting tips below.)
I used the Sending Smiles stamp set on all these cards. I love this stamp set!! It includes nine versatile sentiments to use for any occasion! There’s also thirteen images that arrange to create a wide variety of floral designs.
You can create thoughtful cards for every occasion with the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. Send sunshine to brighten someone’s day, comfort and strength, a note of thanks, or birthday wishes. Whatever the occasion, you can create beautiful cards with heartfelt thoughts that will bring a smile to whoever receives it! It is available as a bundle with dies to coordinate (Save 10%).
I love how this stamp set worked so well with the hearts I cut and embossed using the Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder.
This collection of hearts will help you create crafts that are perfect for anniversaries, Valentine’s Day celebrations, and any other love-filled occasion! It’s easy to share the love with the Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder! I love that you can cut and emboss at the same time. I have had several people ask how it works. Here’s a few tips and reminders…
I cut my cardstock and DSP 2 x 6 so I could cut/emboss 3 colors at once.
To die cut & emboss at the same time, place the dies inside the embossing folder with the cutting edge up. You will be able to feel them fit in place. Add your cardstock on top of the die and close the EF. You will run this through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using just the platform base (#1) and the #4 plate. (*There’s visual reminders right on the base plate.)
Always feed the embossing folder through your machine with the hinge end going through first. (*The Stampin’ Up! Logo will be at the bottom of the EF going through last.) You get 9 beautifully cut & embossed hearts each time!
When you just want to die cut (like I did with the DSP) you will use the platform base (#1), thin die plate (#2), cutting plate (#3), paper, and a second cutting plate (#3) on top. *You make a “sandwich” with your paper and die between the cutting plates.
When die cutting DSP you can actually cut 2 pieces at once. I was able to cut 6 2×6 strips at once which made it quick to cut all the different hearts for today’s project!
There is so much more you can do with this hybrid embossing folder….I plan to use the leftover negative strips for some fun shaker cards and more! Subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss out!

Welcome to my ABC Color Series! Stampin’ Up! offers so many great color choices! I love to combine different colors and patterns and hope to inspire you with some fun color combinations throughout this series. Today’s cards feature Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, and coordinating colors from the Inked Botanical Designer Series Paper.
Inked Botanicals 6×6 Designer Series Paper Coordinating Colors: Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Lost Lagoon, Petal Pink, Pool Party
This paper was designed by pressing hand-inked flowers onto the paper, giving it a beautiful textured, artistic effect. The spectrum of colors, botanical designs, and patterns featured in this paper are great for any season and ideal for all-occasion projects to create year round! Just pair with the greeting and embellishments of your choice to say hello, wish happy birthday, or send a thank you note in simplicity or finesse—the choice is yours!
I love working with 6×6 paper and trying to use it all without any waste. Today’s cards do just that! I had fun trying different color combinations using the pretty patterns. Here’s a look at each:
Each card uses 1 sheet of 6×6 DSP. Here’s how to cut the DSP with no waste:
First cut: 3 3/4 x 6 (leaves 2 1/4 x 6 for envelope)
Second cut: Cut 3 3/4 x 6 piece so it measures 3 3/4 x 5 (leaves 1 x 3 3/4 piece for inside card)
*You can also cut the 3 3/4 x 5 piece again and flip one piece over to show both patterns like I did for the last card.
*Note- If your pattern is directional you will need to cut a little different for a horizontal card.
Here’s a look at the DSP on the inside of the cards:
I used the Something Fancy Dies for the sentiment layers on the front of the cards.
You can create beautifully elegant tags and labels for all your projects with the Something Fancy Dies! These dies coordinate with the Something Fancy Stamp set; however, they work well with many different stamp sets. (I used the Biggest Wish stamp set for 3 of today’s cards.) This die set is packed with versatile labels and shapes in several sizes, so you are sure to get the most use out of this set. Check it out!
