Retiring In Colors and more!

I am just returning from Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage convention in Hartford, Conn.  I had a blast!  It was so much fun getting together with my stamping friends!  Six of us rented a house just outside Hartford so we could extend our stay and have some stamping fun.  We didn’t get much sleep and I laughed so hard my sides hurt! I have so much to share with you in the weeks ahead but first I want to make sure you don’t miss out on some important information…

*The retirement list is coming out today, April 9th at 1PM (MT).  Be sure to check back! You can click on SHOP Stampin’ Up! from my blog (~3 PM EST) and then click on the retirement list. Items sell out fast once they release the list so if there is something you want, don’t wait! We will be saying good bye to the 2016 -2018 In Colors. I really love these colors!!! What’s your favorite retiring In Color? If one color could stay (Hint Hint!!), which one would you want to see again?2016-2018 in colorsHere’s some projects I’ve shared previously using these colors.  Click on any image to see the original post.

N is for Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes

Welcome back to my ABC “Sale-A-Bration” Series! This series showcases products from the 2018 Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochures. Today I’m showcasing the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes found on page 19 in the Occasions Catalog.  These are easy to overlook but you don’t want to miss out on these little gems!  I have been on a roll making a bunch of these note cards. They are small and narrow and perfect for little notes to put in your child’s lunchbox, husband’s briefcase, or to give with homemade baked goods to a friend or neighbor.

Stampin Up Thank you card ideas using Narrow Note Cards and Tutti-frutti Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

My husband does most of the cooking in our house but I enjoying baking.  A few of my favorites are homemade strawberry bread, apple bread, and banana nut bread. Many friends brought us meals during my recovery and I thought I would bake some breads to show my appreciation. The Tutti-frutti 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper is perfect for these adorable thank you cards to go with my loaves of bread.  The 2 1/4″ Circle Punch makes a quick envelope liner to coordinate with the card!

The sentiment from the Fruit Basket Stamp Set is perfect for the inside. There’s still plenty of room to add a personal message.

I also made some note cards to tuck in with customer orders. The leaves on the thank you stamp from A Good Day coordinates nicely with Petal Garden Designer Series Paper. I colored the leaves with my Old Olive Stampin’ Blend.

You get 20 Thick Whisper White cards and 20 envelopes for just $8.  They are really quick & easy to decorate. You can get 4 card fronts from just 1 piece of 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper! Stampin’ Up!’s CEO, Sara Douglas, did a Facebook Live video showcasing a quick & easy way to cut 6 x 6 DSP to get 4 card fronts! You can Click Here to see her video. I stepped mine up a little with a layer of coordinating cardstock measuring 2 1/4 x 4 1/4. I added some ribbon and then stamped and punched the sentiment using the new 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch from the Occasions catalog. I popped up the sentiment layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like to challenge myself to use every little piece of DSP and so I used the leftover 2 x 2 piece to make this Easter card.

Stampin Up Easter card idea using Narrow Note Card and Petal Garden Designer Series Paper - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I cut the leftover piece of DSP in half so I had two 1″ x 2″ pieces.  I added a 2″ x 2″ piece of Whisper White which I used to stamp the bunny from A Good Day Stamp Set and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I added Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon above and below the white piece. This little bunny is so cute! I added a little color with Stampin’ Blends.

My last card is a sweet treat holder for St. Patrick’s Day.

Stampin Up Teeny Tiny WIshes St. Patrick's Day card idea using Narrow Note Card - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I found these chocolates at our local “Candy Kitchen” Shop. They have delicious homemade chocolates! I used some retired Emerald Envy DSP and punched a circle through the top layers using the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I adhered the candy with a glue dot on the inside. The sentiment on the front is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and the inside sentiment is from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set.

I hope you enjoyed this parade of nine note cards today. Do you have a favorite? You can use any Designer Series Paper with these note cards to make a fun little card and make someone smile! The are quick & easy to make!

Coloring with Stampin’ Blends for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #30

It’s time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge! How would YOU like to be a guest designer? Simply play along and each week someone will be chosen to be a future guest designer.  Here’s this week’s challenge board…

TTTC board #30

The “No Sentiment” box popped out at me.  I rarely make a card without a sentiment on the front so I thought I would challenge myself to use that element this week. I created a gift set of 3 x 3 cards.

Stampin Up Petal Passion 3 x 3 card gift set - Jeanie Stark StampinUp

I love to color (which may be one reason why I teach Pre K)!  I have shared many different coloring techniques on my blog (using aqua painters, blender pens, sponge daubers, etc.) For this project I used my Stampin’ Blends and the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper.

To order the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and other Stampin Up products, visit my blog www.juststampin.com

The black and white designs are great on their own but I really like how you can customize the designs.  The flowers are so vibrant using the Stampin’ Blends and trust me, it is so easy to do…the markers do the work for you!

I am thrilled the pizza boxes from the Holiday Catalog made it on Carryover List. They are perfect for 3 x 3 cards and envelopes or food items.
Stampin Up Pizza Box idea - Jeanie Stark StampinUp
The DSP is 3 x 3 layered on a 3 1/4 Black square. I covered the top of the box with a 3 1/2 square of Rich Razzleberry and covered the sides with 1 x 3 1/2 strips in the same color. I added the gorgeous Whisper White Metallic Edge Ribbon as the finishing touch!  You could easily give the set of cards in black & white and let the recipient color them or enjoy some “coloring therapy” and give the set complete as I have done. Either way I think it makes a nice little gift.  I love having note cards on hand for any occasion and these fit the bill.  Stamp a sentiment inside or write a personalized note.
Here’s a tip for when you color with the Stampin’ Blends…put a piece of scrap paper under the image you are coloring becasue the color will bleed through.  You will want to adhere your colored piece to another layer. I cut my DSP in to 3 x 3 sqaures for this project.  I colored then adhered them on to 3 x 6 Thick Whisper White Cardstock (scored at 3″).  I hope this project inspires you to find time to create some handmade kindness!
You can purchase any of the products used to make today’s project from my online store or click on the images below for more information.  I invested in all the Stampin’ Blends and realize that can be a bit pricey starting out; however, I suggest you break it up over the next 3 months during Sale-A-Bration (Jan. 3 – Mar. 31) and earn a FREE item each time (with a qualifying purchase)!

Celebrate with Make a Medallion

img_0709

I can’t believe I waited until the last day of Sale-A-Bration to ink up the Make a Medallion Stamp Set!  I had so much fun layering these stamps with different color combinations.  Because this is a photopolymer stamp set, it is so easy to get perfect placement with each layer.  I used the In Colors cardstock and ribbon with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folder… I love the debossed impression you get.  This card is really quick and easy to put together.  I started with a Whisper White card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 scored at 4 1/4.  I embossed my In Color layer which measures 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered that to the card base.  The stamped layer is a 2 7/8 square which is layered on a 3 x 3 piece of coordinating cardstock and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Here are my color combinations:

img_0713

Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron

img_0712

Dapper Denim and Bermuda Bay

img_0710

Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry

img_0714

Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder

img_0711

Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie

Do you have a favorite color combination?  Check out this video from Stampin’ Up showing some different ways to layer with this stamp set.

As you can see from the video there are so many different ways to combine the stamps in this set! I didn’t even use the sentiments that fit nicely in the medallion! I like the way this stamp set looks with the Lovely Lace embossing folder which I used to decorate my envelopes.

img_0717

There is always something to celebrate! I’m sending these cards out to my team members this month. I am looking forward to getting together with “my people” next weekend in Richmond, Virginia at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event.  We will get to see the new annual catalog, play with some of the new products, swap cards, and have all kinds of fun!

Sale-A-Bration ends today and it has certainly been a lot of fun! I appreciate everyone who placed orders with me.  I have been busy getting your goodies ready to mail out. All orders placed through my online store (Using the host code GZ4DZZ6J )are eligible for my FREE monthly gifts.  This month you will receive my birthday party goodie bags with DSP, card kits, and more! Getting Carried Away with Lift Me Up Stamp Set

The other day I posted 4 cards I made using the Lift Me Up Bundle and Carried Away Designer Series Paper.  If you missed that post you can click HERE. I told you how I couldn’t stop playing with this bundle! Evidently I’m not the only one! Here’s an awesome video from Stampin’ Up! with even more inspiration and ideas to make 12 quick cards and a fun decorated tin to store them in!

WOW!  Brandi did a great job showcasing how easy it is to create this whole set of cards in no time at all!  (It reminds me of the Power Layout method for scrapbooking to get an album done in a day!) The only problem I see here is you would need to spend $100 to get both the Card Tin and the Carried Away Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration.  So here’s my “special with purchase” solution for you…Shop my online store and purchase $50 or more and choose the Card Tin as your Sale-A-Bration gift (or other item if you already have that).  I will send you the Carried Away Designer Series Paper needed to complete all 12 projects and the adorable decorated banner for your tin! U is for Up and Away Thinlits Dies

Welcome to my alphabet series showcasing some of the new products in the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs. Today I am showcasing the Up and Away Thinlits Dies and Lift Me Up Stamp Set.  I couldn’t stop playing with this bundle! Here’s 4 cards I made.

img_8951

My colors came from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper (Free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration): Mint Macaron, Night of Navy, Peekaboo Peach, Watermelon Wonder, Smokey Slate, and Whisper White.

sab-carried-away-dsp

The DSP coordinates with the Lift Me Up Bundle. The DSP panels on all 4 cards measure the same, 3 1/4 x 3 1/4, with a layer of cardstock just  a smidge (1/8″) more.  There’s so many different sentiments in this set which work for birthdays, congratulations, thank you, thinking of you, and love. Here’s a look at the Lift Me Up Bundle.

lift-me-up-bundle

Check out this video showing all the uplifting possibilities!

I tried something different on each of my cards using the stamp set and dies.

img_8953 These two cards have stamped balloons which I then cut out with the framelits.  The one on the left I stamped twice, once on mint macaron and once on white.  I cut the top part of the mint macaron balloon and adhered it to the whisper white then popped it up on dimensionals.  I was trying to get the look of the balloons in the DSP.  The one on the left was easy to match the DSP by just stamping in different inks and running it through the Big Shot to cut it out.

img_8952

These 2 cards use the Thinlits Die with the Precision Base Plate.  I love this die!!! It’s easy to get different colors perfectly sized to fit with the dies in the set.  I used some DSP for the card on the left and cardstock for the card on the right.  I turned the dies over and pieced them together like a puzzle and held them together with Tear & Tape.  Then I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the hot air balloon.  I added some rhinestone jewels to one and  adhered the balloons with dimensionals to lift them up.

img_8936

Here’s a look at each of the finished cards with matching envelopes.

I is for Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper

Welcome to my alphabet series showcasing some of the new products in the 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs. Today I am showcasing Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper.  You can earn this paper pack for FREE with a $50 purchase from my online store.

inside-the-lines-dsp

I made a set of note cards using each of the designs.  How quick & easy is this?!

img_8571

Simply cut the DSP the same size as your card and adhere to the front.  At this point you can choose to color with your favorite coloring tool (watercolor pencils, markers, sponge brayer, blender pens, or aqua painter) or keep it plain and simple. (I do love black & white!) You can even add a die cut or sentiment.  The new Dragonfly Dreams Detailed Dies coordinate with this DSP. I am giving this set as a gift so I opted to include some dies and sentiments and let the recipient decide.

img_8572

img_8575

img_8574

img_8573

I decorated stamp cases to hold my cards. The standard stamp case will hold up to 10 note cards & envelopes and the wide stamp case will hold 10 – 20.  You could even include a set of the new Stampin’ Up Watercolor Pencils in the case. (I love these!!)  I have given these decorated stamp cases as gifts before.  (Click HERE to see.) They say, “Give what you would love to receive.”

Check out this short video showing the different coloring techniques you can use with Inside the Lines Specialty Designer Series Paper!

I love all the different ways you can color this paper!

inside-the-lines-sab-samples

I cut a piece of 7 1/4 x 11 1/4 Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper and used the watercolor pencils and a blender pen to color.  I love to color! (Hmmm, this could explain why I am a preschool teacher.) When complete just slide into the sleeve on the stamp case.

img_8570

I had so much fun making these! I also made this card and matching envelope to give to a coworker.

img_8582

I thought a set of cards to color would be a perfect gift while she recovers from surgery. I’m sure she’ll appreciate some note cards to send thank you notes to everyone who brought meals, etc.  For the standard size case I cut a 5 1/2 x 7 1/4 piece of DSP and this time I left it plain. The DSP covers the front and the spine but not the back of the case.  I figured with the cards in the case the back looked fine. She can always take out the insert and color that too if she wants! After she uses the cards she can use the case to store the watercolor pencils or markers and this way she can easily see what’s inside with a quick glance at the back.

Which gift set would you prefer…colored or plain?

img_8589

Here’s my special with purchase for today…purchase $50 or more from my online store and I will send you 4 note cards & envelopes plus 4 panels of Inside the Lines Specialty DSP and some pre-cut dies and sentiments so you can make all 4 cards shown today! Have fun coloring them for yourself or give them as a gift! Remember every $50 ordered qualifies for a FREE Sale-A-Bration gift. Be sure to enter the Hostess Code EPGDT3KF when you check out. A Paper Pumpkin Gift Set

I have had so much fun playing with last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit!  One of the nice things about being a Paper Pumpkin subscriber is you get to order refill kits for just $8.00! I love the shaker cards in this kit and thought they would make a fun gift set to give. I bought several extra kits, added my own touch, and split them up to make sets of 4.

img_6599
Gift set of cards from October 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit

I love to give cards to friends and hostesses and they also make nice gifts for teachers, hairdressers, etc.  Instead of giving a set of thank you cards or all occasion cards,  I decided to “shake it up” this time and let the recipient decide what kind of card it’s going to be. I stamped the die cuts with several possible sentiments and included some glue dots to adhere them to the cards. I stamped both sides of the die cut shapes to give even more options.  They can choose to layer the die cuts on the front of the card or use one on the front and one on the inside. I even sponged some of the punched out leaves which they can add to the front of the envelope or on the inside of the card. There’s so many possibilities.

Here’s a look some possible cards with the added sentiments.

The recipient can decide if they need all birthday cards, thank you cards, etc.

I cut some of the die cut banners from the kit in half to give more options for sentiments. I love the “just wanted to say..” stamp.  You can use it as a note and write inside or attach several different sentiments inside.

Another nice thing about this set is you have the option of making it a vertical card.

In addition to using the stamp set in the kit as well as past paper pumpkin kits, I made a few of my own banners to include some sentiments for Thanksgiving. I’m sure any Thanksgiving host would love a special card.

I hope I have given you lots of ideas and different ways to combine elements and think “outside the box”. The Paper Pumpkin kits make it quick, easy, and affordable to give lots of handmade gifts. I even like to include the stamps in the package so they have everything they need to send a card and make someone smile! Who do you know that would love a set of cards?

E is for Envelope DSP

Welcome to my ABC’s of DSP series! This month I am featuring projects showcasing Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper. Did you know Stampin’ Up! has Envelope paper? It is often overlooked in the catalog (page 176).  It is thin text-weight paper to use for making envelopes.  You get 20 sheets: 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in 5 colors. It comes in 12 x 12 sheets in the In Colors.  I enjoy making odd sized cards on occasion so this paper is great to make matching envelopes and you know how I love the In Colors! I used the 2016 – 2018 In Colors for today’s cards and project.

img_5201
3 x 3 In Color Gift Enclosure Cards

I love these 3 x 3 cards and they were quick & easy to make! (My kind of cards!!!)  I cut my cardstock 3 x 6 and scored it at 3.  I cut Whisper White at 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 and ran it through the Big Shot with the Elegant Dots Embossing folder before adhering it to my card. I like the way the dots on the embossing folder compliment the dotted envelope paper. I stamped the flower from the Flower Shop stamp set on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I stamped the sentiments from Tin of Cards Stamp Set on top using Basic Black ink.  I cut them out with the Layering Circles Framelits and glued them to a scalloped circle.  I cut a  4 inch piece of ribbon and attached it with glue dots. I popped the layered sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The envelopes were easy to make using the Envelope Punch Board.  Check out this short video from Stampin’ Up! to see how simple it is to use!

I used the 2016-2018 In Color Envelope paper to make my custom sized envelopes.  I cut the paper at 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 and followed the directions on the punch board.  Here’s my finished cards and envelopes.

After I finished these adorable cards I thought they would make a nice little gift.  So I pulled out a half size wood mount stamp case.  It’s the perfect size for these cards, envelopes, and some chocolate.  I only had 1 mini Hershey bar but you could easily add another in the box.

I made an insert for the case to keep the cards in place.  It measures 3 1/4 x 6.  I scored it at 3 1/2, 4 1/4, and 5.  Fold on the score lines and insert in the case.  I also cut a piece of Dapper Denim Envelope paper at 11 1/4 x 3 3/8 to slide into the sleeve on the cover.  I decorated the front to match the look of the cards.

I hope you like today’s cards and project.  These stamp cases are wonderful storage containers for all kinds of things.  I use the half size to store my retired In Color ink refills.  It holds 5 refills and stands up on my shelf. You can purchase any of the items used to make today’s projects in my online shop.  You can click HERE to get started. Please use the Hostess Code 7DB3CBKS when you check out.  I’ve added a visual below to show where to enter the code. I always send a thank you gift each month when you order from me.  I appreciate each and every order!

Tuesday Tip…Gift Box for Cards

Yesterday I shared with you a set of thank you cards.  You can see that post HERE if you missed it. Today I am going to share 2 ways to present your cards for gift giving.  I put yesterday’s cards in a clear stamp case as I wanted to put a little chocolate in there too. Chocolate is like stamping vitamins right? Here’s the case and directions for the insert.

Stampin’ Up! Wide Stamp Case

To make the insert for the stamp case start with a piece of cardstock measuring 5 x 8 1/2. Score at 5 3/4, 6 1/2, 7 1/4.  Fold as shown in the photo.

The inset for the stamp case holds your cards and envelopes in place. The extra section is perfect for a little candy. I started out with these Hershey Nuggets wrapped in 1 x 3 In Color Designer Series Paper but changed my mind and went with the kisses to go with the contest theme.

Not only can you wrap the nuggets with DSP but you can also stamp the Avery address labels and just stick them over the wrappers (I use this idea a lot!). Here’s a set I stamped with the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp Set.

You can also decorate the stamp case for gift giving.  Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 7 x 11 1/4.  Score it at 5 and 6 1/4.  Slip the DSP in the sleeve on the stamp case and you have a gift wrapped box!  I made a belly band and decorated it with flowers and die cut leaves for my daughter and put some monogrammed notecards inside.  Can you tell her favorite color?

Did you know you can purchase these empty stamp cases?  You can find them on page 183 in the annual catalog.  I could do another whole post on ways to use these cases!  They are great for markers, reinkers, gift tags, etc. You get 4 wide cases (like these that I’ve shown) for $7 and they are so nice and sturdy. I’m sure you’ll find many uses for them.

I promised you 2 card holder ideas today so let’s get to the second one.  I use this idea a lot to display card sets in my craft area as well as for gift giving.  The box can hold 5 -6 cards and envelopes depending on how many layers or embellishments you add.

Start with a piece of 7 1/2 x 11 cardstock. With the short side along the top, score at 1 1/2 and 6.  Score the other side at 3 3/4 and 5 1/4.  Fold along the score lines and cut as shown.

Add tear & tape adhesive and  stick the sides together.  Decorate the front as desired.  I usually decorate it match my cards. You can cut the sides at an angle if you prefer (like I shared previously with the business card holders). So many possibilities! Quick & Easy!

I hope you enjoyed these ideas.  If you make one send me a photo!  I would love to see your creations!

Have a wonderful day!
